March 1, 1912

Main Event

FW - Cal McCarthy (2/CH) (23-6) scored an easy UD15 over Kid Landfield (CH/8) (17-15-3) to win the WBC FW title.

Landfield hung pretty close in the early rounds then McCarthy took over from the 6th on only losing the 15th the rest of the way. Landfield was down twice in the 14th.

I had it 146-137, while the official judges had it 146-138/144-140/145-138.

Title Fight

BW Dave Sullivan (CH) (24-3-1) continued his strong career with a TKO9 over favored Owen Moran (8/11) (33-8-6). Sullivan made his first defense of the IBF BW title.

Sullivan cut Moran over the left eye in the second and that cut would eventually stop the fight. Moran was fading fast at the stoppage. A very close fight was broken open in the 8th when Moran was dropped. Then with Moran tired and bleeding badly again in the 9th the ref stopped it.

I had it 77-75 at the stoppage.

Other fights

MW - Jack McCarron (UR/15) (14-0-1) scored a UD10 over Billy Manning (68/81) (9-10) to remain unbeaten and to join the rankings. McCarron was never in any trouble in this fight and dropped Manning in the 8th. I had it 99-91, the official scorers had it 99-92/100-92/100-90.

MW - Joe Thomas (53/38) (18-7-4) got a nice with with a UD10 over Bill Gabig (32/39) (15-2-3). The fight was close the whole way and even after 8 rounds. Gabig tired and was dropped twice in the 9th. I had it 96-92, and the official judges had it 97-91/96-92/97-91.

HW - Jimmy Elliot (59/41) (31-9-3) TKO1 James Couper (57/75) (11-5-2) (couper at pre)

WW - William Sullivan (68/59) (14-7-3) KO9 Frank Burke (60/68) (12-6-1)

Bad month to be a champ so far

March 2, 1912

Main Event

MW - Jeff Clarke (17/CH) (20-2) caught a lucky break when an injured shoulder gave him a TKO13 over Billy Papke (CH/4) (25-5). Clarke takes the IBF MW title.

Papke had pretty good control over this fight but Clarke was rallying when Papke seperated his shoulder in the 13th round. Clarke's right eye started swelling and it was completely closed by the 13th.

I had it 116-113 at the stoppage. The commissioner (me) has given Papke an automatic shot at Clarke or whoever holds the title in 4 months when he is healed.

Regional title fight

LW - Freddie Welsh (12/9) (20-8-1) used his superior boxing skills to win a UD12 over Willie Fitzgerald (8/11) (21-2-3) to win the CBU LW title. Fitzgerald was the IBO champ also and while the title is vacated Welsh doesn't get the crown. The IBO title can only be fought for in December.

There were no knockdowns or cuts and Welsh held Fitzgerald to 20% accuracy. I had it 117-113, while the official judges had it 116-114/116-115/116-113.

Other fights

LW - Patsy Kerrigan (UR) (6-0-2) scored a UD8 over Willie Rothwell (UR) (3-4) to remain unbeaten. Easy fight for Kerrigan with no knockdowns or cuts. I had it 79-73, while the official judges saw it 78-74/78-74/79-73.

FLY - Kid Murphy (9/7) (21-6-4) scored a UD10 over Griff Jones (UR/8) (12-3) (pre). Murphy was cut over the right eye in the 7th but dropped Jones in the 1st and the 10th to cruise. I had it 97-91, while the official judges had it 98-90/97-91/98-90.

LW - Young Erne (92/78) (19-10) UD10 Jae Plantaganet Green (UR) (10-4) (green at pre)

BW - Jimmy Walsh (6/6) (17-12-5) TKO5 Hank Brennan (49/49) (16-9-1) (weird neither fighters rankings changed and I checked the pp, Walsh's 7th straight win)

Britton's dirty tactics payoff

March 8, 1912

Main Event

WW - Jack Britton (CH) (25-3-6) fouled his way to a SD15 victory over Kyle Whitney (6/6) (19-6-5) for his first defense of the IBF WW title. Three of Whitney's six losses have come to Britton.

Britton recieved 7 warnings and 2 point deductions and was almost disqualified on his way to the victory. He won the 11-14th rounds to seal the win. No knockdowns or cuts in the fight.

I had it 144-140, while the official judges had it 143-140/144-140/141-143.

Regional title fight

LW - Mike Ward (45/45) (13-2-2) (pre) fought to a DRAW12 with Arthur Douglas (48/47) (17-7-1) (pre) to retain the AABU LW title.

Close uneventful fight which I had 115-113 for Ward but the official judges had it 116-112/114-114/114-114. Both fighters went to prime.

Other fights

HW - Carl Morris (UR) (14-0) scored a UD10 over Billy Cadman (132/137) (6-9-5) to remain unbeaten. It was a close fight throughout and Cadman lost a point due to a foul. I had it 96-94, while the official judges scored it 95-94/97-94/97-92. Cadman was cut under the right eye in the 9th.

FW - Dick Hollywood (34/22) (14-3) UD10 Tommy O'Toole (14/23) (14-4) (both at pre)

FW - Benny Yanger (12/11) (23-3) TKO3 Billy Ross (82/club) (10-15-2) (Ross drops to the club ranks with the loss)

HW - Frank Slavin (57/42) (30-17-1) TKO10 Harry Laing (71/85) (18-6-3)

Champs are 2-5-1 in March so far

March 9, 1912

Main Event

FW - Oscar Gardner (3/CH) (24-6-1) got up off the canvas in the first to score a TKO7 over Will Curley (CH/8) (23-10-3) to win the WBA FW title. Curley will also vacate the IBF title since it wasn't on the line here and an 8 man tourney will start next month.

Gardner was down in the first but won the next 3 rounds to get back in it, cutting Curley's left eye in the third. By the 7th the eye was a mess and the ref stopped the fight. I had it 57-57 at the stoppage.

Regional title fight

FLY - Joe McGrath (5/2) (18-3-3) got a narrow MD12 win over Grover Hayes (1/3) (17-1-1) (pre) to win the USBA FLY title and hand Hayes his first loss.

There were no cuts or knockdowns. Hayes won the early rounds with McGrath coming on late. I had 115-114 McGrath as did two judges. The third called it even at 115.
-
Other fights

MW - Jack Fitzgerald (85/41) (12-12-1) pulled the monster upset scoring a MD10 over previously unbeaten Willie Brennan (10/42) (15-1-1) (pre). Brennan was cut over the right eye in the 5th and Fitzgerald survived a knockdown in the 6th. I had it 96-93, the official judges saw it 96-93/95-95/96-93.

WW - Dick Nelson (49/35) (18-8) got a bit of a gift with a SD10 win over Mike Glover (21/30) (20-2-2). Nelson looked the worse for the wear with a cut lip and a swollen left eye. Glover seemed to break open a close fight with a 10th round knockdown. I had it96-94 Glover, while the official judges had it 95-94/94-95/96-93.

LH - Leo Houck (15/11) (27-12-2) SD10 Alec Greggains (31/39) (14-7-1)

BW - Nunc Wallace (57/32) (16-8-2) UD10 Jack Madden (13/23) (18-4)

March 15, 1912

Main event

HW - Jack Johnson (CH) (44-3) cruised to an easy UD15 over the pre-prime Pearce Henry (4/5) (18-1). For Johnson it was his 3rd defense of the WBO title. Henry retained his CBU title.

There were no cuts or knockdowns and the outcome was never in doubt. I had 147-138, the official judges had is 146-140 x 2 and 147-139.

Other fights

HW - Joe Choynski (11/11) (35-10-2) (post) battled to a DRAW10 with Joe Goss (22/22) (26-6-5). Back and forth contest with no knockdowns or cuts. I had it 95-95 as did two of the official judges with the third scoring it 96-94 for Goss.

MW - Joe Shugrue (UR) (6-0-2) (pre) remained unbeaten with a boring UD8 win over Jack Lewis (UR) (1-6) (pre). Once again no knockdowns or cuts. I had it 77-74 with Lewis losing a point due to fouls. The official judges had it 77-74 x 2 and 78-73.

LH - John Miller (56/27) (11-9-2) stopped John Cavanagh (8/28) (13-4-2) in the third round to pull of this mild upset. Cavanagh won the first two rounds but was basically out on his feet when it was stopped in the third.

Main Event

WW - George Cole (CH) (19-10-4) scored a TKO8 over George Lavigne (4/6) (31-16-2) to defend his WBC WW title for the first time. His WBA belt was not on the line.

Cole battered the right eye of Lavigne's until the ref had to stop it in the 8th. It was swollen shut and bleeding badly. I had Cole ahead 69-64 at the stoppage.

Regional Title

FW - Johnny Dundee (UR) (14-0) (pre) was cruising to a win when Patsy Kline (30/34) (12-8-2) fouled his way out of the fight. Dundee takes the CBU FW crown with a DQ8. I had it 69-64 at the stoppage. No knock downs but Dundee was cut over the right eye.

Other fights

MW - Jerry Jerome (53/40) (18-6) scored a TKO10 over Jim Carr (61/77) (11-8-3) (pre). Jerome dominated the fight dropping Carr in the 4th and then again in the 10th. I had it 89-82 at the stoppage.

WW - Tommy West (13/17) (19-8-3) got totally screwed with a DRAW10 against Billy McMillan (59/59) (16-3-3) (pre). West controlled the fight and seemed to have a comfortable lead. I had it 97-93 West, but the official judges saw it 96-94/95-95/95-95.

WW - Joe Walcott (11/11) (26-16-7) DRAW10 Andy Watson (54/61) (15-8-3)

Regional title

HW - George Christian (UR) (13-0) (pre) dominated Arthur Warren (56/71) (10-5-3) (pre) to retain the AABU HW title. Christian won every round and was ahead on my scorecard 80-72 at the stoppage.

Herrera loses again

March 23, 1912

Main Event

LW - Jack McAuliffe (CH) (41-7-2) got up off the canvas to stop Aurelio Herrera (4/9) (24-11) in the 6th round to retain the WBO title. McAuliffe who looked over the hill winning the title found new vigor for this fight (rolled to come in at prime).

Herrera took the fight at McAuliffe early dropping the champ in the second round. McAuliffe returned the favor in the 4th and then a cut over the right eye of the challenger stopped the fight in the 6th.

I had it 47-46 Herrera at the stoppage. Herrera who has won a FW and LW title talked about moving up to WW after the fight. He said he'd see where the rest of the year took him then decide.

Other fights

MW - Tommy Gavigan (UR/11) (15-0) (pre) dominated Battling Connors (88/90) (5-8-3) (pre) to remain unbeaten. Gavigan was near perfect in winning a UD10. He dropped Connors 3 times and cut him over his right eye but couldn't get him out. I had it 100-88, the official judges saw it 99-88/99-89/99-88.

HW - Gunboat Smith (66/54) (17-1) (pre) used a 6th round knockdown and a strong 10th round to win a SD10 over Tommy Dugan (62/77) (16-11). Smith was cut over the right eye in the 8th and the fight was even going into the 10th. I had it 95-94 Smith, while the official judges saw it 95-94/94-96/96-94.

HW - Jack O'Brien (14/12) (30-7-2) UD10 Billy Squires (99/105) (15-19-1)

WW - Charles McKeever (45/25) (15-13) TKO6 Mysterious Billy Smith (19/29) (21-6-1)

MW - Denny Harrington (10/8) (16-1) SD10 Tommy Cleary (58/62) (15-8-1) (Harrington at pre)

Damn, bad luck for Herrera that McAuliffe came in at Prime. It'll be interesting to see how Herrera does at WW should he decide to move up there.

Main Event

HW - Sam Langford (CH) (33-6-2) scored a TKO12 over John Heenan (3/3) (29-9-1) to retain all three titles.

Heenan gave Langford a lot of trouble up until the 11th round. I had Langford with a small lead after 10. Both had a swollen eye. Langford dropped Heenan in the 11th and again in the 12th then the ref stopped it.

I had it 106-103 at the stoppage. Langford has now won 13 bouts in a row, has not lost in his last 14 (draw with Peter Jackson in there). He has defended the WBA title 6 times, the WBC 5 times and the IBF 4 times.

Regional Title

WW - Ted Lewis (9/7) (18-2-1) got up off the canvas twice to stop Jack Willis (27/40) (16-11-2) in the 9th to keep his CBU WW title.

Lewis was down twice in the 5th and behind on the score cards when he KO'd Willis in the 9th. He struggled to a draw in their first meeting. I had it 76-74 Willis at the stoppage.

Other fights

FW - Tommy Warren (UR/10) (15-0) (pre) broke Al Wright's (88/club) (8-13-2) nose in the first round and the ref stopped the fight in the 4th. I had Warren ahead 29-28 at the stoppage.

HW - John Sullivan (21/18) (40-9) KO1 Bill Curran (128/132) (11-11) (curran at pre)

LW - Jack Everhardt (13/10) (18-7-3) KO3 Young Joseph (74/83) (12-16-4) (big chance for Joseph but he continues to be one of the worst 7 rated fighters in the LBA)

MW - Charles Goff (75/44) (17-13-2) KO9 Peter Newton (31/55) (14-3) (newton at pre)

mh2365,

I've been going through your universe and was wondering if I could ask you for some of your created HW files? I read somewhere early in this thread, that you dont really share your created files because you dont spend a lot of time in creating them. What is your opinion on that issue? Thanks, btown32
