1889 National League final standings

I thought about having a playoff between Boston and New York but i decided
to stick with my original house rule.
I imagined a cutoff date to schedule games for a league.
If Boston would have won their last game they would have made it to the series.
The reason i use as played schedules over scheduled for 19th century is that
there are seasons a team may fold after short amount of games.

Cincinnati Win to Pull Even With New York
The Cincinnati Red Stockings topped the New York Giants by the score of 6-2 and moved into a 2-2 tie in the World Championship Series today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Cincinnati starter Jesse Duryea, who threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win.
Duryea was in the zone all game. He frustrated New York hitters while giving the Red Stockings 9 innings of quality work. Duryea threw 107 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 2 punchouts.

Red Stockings Clip Giants 12-11 in WCS Contest
The Cincinnati Red Stockings and the New York Giants will take the World Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. The Red Stockings got a dramatic walk-off victory in a must-win situation today to beat the Giants 12-11 at League Park and force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. New York second baseman Danny Richardson was impressive in a losing effort. He went 4-6 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Cincinnati left fielder George Tebeau, facing Tim Keefe, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Red Stockings the 12-11 win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cincinnati manager Gus Schmelz.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at League Park in Cincinnati.

Series MVP was Jim O'Rourke who batted .407 with 13 rbi and scoring 6 runs.
Not bad for 38 yr old.
O'Rourke also became the 3rd player to collect 2,000 hits behind Deacon White and Cap Anson.

Current 1890 standings.
Giants have started out red hot.
I thought there would be a drop off with the loss of
Buck Ewing, Roger Connor and Tim Keefe.
Guess the Reds coming over has kept them on their toes.
On the opposite end is the Pittsburgh Alleghenys.
I knew about the 1899 Spiders being bad but i guess i never noticed
how bad the 1890 Alleghenys were.
Sorry Pittsburgh fans.
Maybe the name change in 1891 will help.

Missed trading Henry Easterday to Philadelphia. Accidentally traded him to
Pittsburgh. Was tempted to restart the season but since i already posted
results i decided to just continue. Speaking of Pittsburgh it didnt really help them as they became the first team to be eliminated for the 1890 season.
Sorry Pittsburgh fans but your time is coming with those early 2oth century powerhouse Pirates teams.

Chicago again?
Theyswept a 3 game series with the Giants.
I guess losing those star players is catching up with the Giants.
But will it be St.Louis's year?

Update
I lost my saved game and had to go back to sept 4th.

The St. Louis Browns got an exceptional performance from starter Billy Hart, who silenced the New York offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 3 of the World Championship Series today. Hart went the distance for St. Louis, allowing no runs on 6 hits, while striking out 1.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Hart told the St. Louis Citizen.

Tiernan, Giants Wallop Browns in Game 4 of WCS
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot St. Louis Browns team, the New York Giants had a tough assignment. Mike Tiernan delivered.
The Giants center fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 12-1. Tiernan, 23, earned accolades for his efforts. The win means New York now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Lew Whistler, the 22-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Whistler contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put New York up, 3-0.
"I felt good up there," said Whistler. "I saw the ball well."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sportsmans Park in St. Louis.

St. Louis Crowned Champions
It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious St. Louis Browns, that meant the Major League Baseball World Championship Series trophy.
The Browns took a 6-5 victory over the New York Giants at Sportsmans Park, winning their 1st championship after taking the series 4-1.
"We've got grit," said Browns starting pitcher Billy Hart, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to."
The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the American Association and a 93-46 record.
