1889 National League final standings
I thought about having a playoff between Boston and New York but i decided to stick with my original house rule. I imagined a cutoff date to schedule games for a league. If Boston would have won their last game they would have made it to the series. The reason i use as played schedules over scheduled for 19th century is that there are seasons a team may fold after short amount of games. Code:

Current 1890 standings.
Giants have started out red hot. I thought there would be a drop off with the loss of Buck Ewing, Roger Connor and Tim Keefe. Guess the Reds coming over has kept them on their toes. On the opposite end is the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. I knew about the 1899 Spiders being bad but i guess i never noticed how bad the 1890 Alleghenys were. Sorry Pittsburgh fans. Maybe the name change in 1891 will help. |

Paul Hines became the 4th player to get 2,000 hits. Harry Wright is closing in on 1,000 wins as a manager. He currently has 928. Last edited by BaseballMan; 09-10-2023 at 09:22 PM. |

Missed trading Henry Easterday to Philadelphia. Accidentally traded him to
Pittsburgh. Was tempted to restart the season but since i already posted results i decided to just continue. Speaking of Pittsburgh it didnt really help them as they became the first team to be eliminated for the 1890 season. Sorry Pittsburgh fans but your time is coming with those early 2oth century powerhouse Pirates teams. Last edited by BaseballMan; 09-15-2023 at 11:21 PM. |

Chicago again? Theyswept a 3 game series with the Giants. I guess losing those star players is catching up with the Giants. But will it be St.Louis's year? Update I lost my saved game and had to go back to sept 4th. Last edited by BaseballMan; 09-19-2023 at 09:00 PM. |

Mike Tiernan delivered. The Giants center fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 12-1. Tiernan, 23, earned accolades for his efforts. The win means New York now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series. Lew Whistler, the 22-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Whistler contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put New York up, 3-0. "I felt good up there," said Whistler. "I saw the ball well."
