Well, at least this world cup is in MY time zones.

Games start at 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm my time. In four years it will get a bit bitter

Bottom line, it WAS disrespectful for the US Soccer Federation to do what they did.

Anything that makes islamic countries aware that their gender and LGBTQIA2+ policies are unacceptable is okay with me. Not really worried about offending Iran. Not that we are perfect, but we don't take away any pro-gay items from fans when they enter stadiums.

I'm sure his haircutter will tell him all about it, and that he knew it before.

And that they should reintroduce the blonde accents.

You missed my point completely. FWIW, I agree with what you have posted here. You STILL missed the fact that the US Soccer Federation did a bad thing.

That's because I think they did a good thing, they are making oppresive goverments more aware about how to be humane to minority groups.

I saw that goal. I did think that the ball glanced ever so slightly off of Ronaldo's head, but they awarded the goal to Fernandes.

Another reason why they could have given the credit to Ronaldo was his presence in front of the net. A player of his stature is bound to attract an inordinate amount of attention, so the goalkeeper seemed to be concentrated on him instead of the ball. Even if Ronaldo didn't touch it at all, it would have gone into the net because the goalie was focused on Ronaldo.

This writer thought Ronaldo was trying in a "sneaky" manner to take credit for the goal by celebrating as if he scored. Then he supposedly looked pouty when the goal went to Fernandes. My opinion is, the writer was reading a great deal into the situation.
