Another day, another loss. This isn't good. We've got 43 games left, and at the rate we're going, we won't even be within 10 to 15 games by the end of the season. Realistically, I think if someone gets to 85-90 wins in the NL this year, they'll take the league. The Giants are most likely going to repeat as NL champs this year, and the Yankees have a big 14-game lead on the Indians now. The Red Sox are the worst team in MLB right now, and the Reds are currently in the NL cellar.

If it hadn't been for all the injuries, I think we could have had a really good season. Pitching and defense, among other things, have cost us wins, as a result, no doubt. As far as free agency, I don't hold out much hope for us to be able to upgrade all that easily this year, due to the likely expensive trade that we made to ship off Lazzeri and Bottomley to the Browns. But we'll see what happens with them both. Hopefully, they'll retire before their contracts are expected to end, and free up some money currently due them for us. Although we're still going to have to eat a certain amount of money tied to them, unfortunately, for a while, most likely.

1934 is probably gone for us, as far as us being able to finish the season successfully as a potential World Series champion. But if we can get some better players for 1935 and future seasons, I think we could build a championship team that is potentially capable of winning more than one or two titles prior to 1942. We have some promising talent coming up now, and I can't wait to see what Medwick, Rolfe, Mize, and others will be able to do once they're the primary players for the Cardinals in the future, if they're not already.

As far as the 1934 season goes, I'll probably have some mixed feelings about it, in the future, but at least we got off to a good start before the injuries started to really hit our organization and all. The pitching has largely been a weakness this year, but for the most part, the hitting has been fairly good, at least.

However, we still need to upgrade not only our pitching, but defense and other things, if we want to have better overall results for ourselves in the future, it seems to me. While the hitting is good in many respects, we need better defense, and also need to see about getting younger, too, I think.

Another day, another win, but Paul Waner got hurt. Diagnosis is still pending, so we don't know if and when he'll miss time, and if he does, how much, just yet, of course. I strongly suspect that for us to have a chance at catching up to the Giants and the other teams ahead of us, however slim that chance may be, I'll probably have to try to manage most, if not all, of our remaining games, and hope for the best for us, then. Another day, another loss, unfortunately. We definitely need to do something related to pitching and all as soon as possible. However, it's long past the trading deadline, so we're just going to have to wait until the offseason, I think, to try to improve ourselves for 1935, at least. CD out.

Finishing August with a loss is not good, but it is what it is. June, July, and August really hurt us a lot, it seems to me. Hopefully, though, we can do better in September, and then much better next season. It would help if we could keep our players healthy, of course, too. Especially our key ones. CD out.

Another day, another win, but too late now to probably make much difference in how the standings will ultimately shake out. Giants are the likely NL winners who will no doubt face the Yankees. Indians will not catch the Yankees, unless the Yankees totally collapse. Nor will the Tigers. Tigers and Indians will likely have to battle for second, seeing as the Yankees already are 93-36 for the season, with 25 games left to play. Indians are at 76-52, with the Tigers four games back of them at 72-56.

The Giants are at 78-51, Cubs 74-54, Pirates 68-58, and we're at 65-61. Maybe we can catch the Pirates, but I wouldn't expect us to be able to catch either the Cubs or Giants. I think whoever gets to 85 or more wins first is likely to win the NL title, if not at least 90. We are unlikely to get to 80, but if we manage to break .500 with all the injuries we have had this year, then I'll be at least a little pleased here. Not totally, of course, but at least we'll have met the owner's goal of having a winning record if we do so here, somehow. I was hoping for better results for us this year, but major injuries hurt our chances severely this season.

Will write more later, at some point, I'm sure, but for now, I'll close this post here. Here's hoping we have a halfway-decent September at least, though. CD out.

Managed a split of a doubleheader against the Pirates, but the Giants won both sides of a doubleheader against the Phillies. Fortunately, though, we gained on the Cubs, but I still don't think we're going to catch them or the Pirates very easily, if at all, to be honest. That is all. CD out.
