September 1st-September 7th
September 1st, 2023: Happy Roster Expansion!
This was the first month I didn't get Rookie of the Month, as the Nats 3B Tanner Kohlhepp won instead of Seth Beer or Cole Roederer. Down in AAA, I swept the awards, with 2B Reizo Honda and SP Tim Cate winning. Both would be up with the club later this month. Honda hit .397 with 7 homers, 36 RBI's, and 23 runs scored. Callup time: Max Povse, Nolan Gorman, and Jordan Montgomery have all been added to the active roster. AAA ends on the 4th, AA the 11th, A+ the 10th, A the 11th, and A- the 11th. For some reason AAA ends a lot earlier then usual, but we're going to make the playoffs. We opened the series in Atlanta with Jordan Mongtomery (6-2, 3.44 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) facing Sean Newcomb who was making his 2018 debut. I'm hoping we can at least win 2 of 3. Moniak loves hitting against Newcomb, 6-fot-11 in his career while he was with the Phillies. We took the opener 6-4 to tie things up at the top of the East. Monty had a short stsart, 3.1 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Corbin Burnes got the win, 1.2 innings out of the pen with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Tyler Jay, Ben Popkin, Phil Maton, and Luiz Gohara earned holds, while Yasukazu Shiotani got the save. Maton allowed a run in 0.2 innings with 2 hits and a walk before Gohara finished the 8th. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, double and homer. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, 2 RBI's, and a run scored. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Moniak was 1-for-5, but doubled and got a steal. September 2nd, 2023: Montgomery asked again for an extension, and I think we finally reached a deal, 5-years, $24,000,000 per year. It's a big commitment, but I have the room and top starting pitching is tough to come by. He'll end the contract at 35, but I'm confident in him staying effective. And it helps that he's a clubhouse leader. We looked to take first of ourselves with A.J. Puckett (7-6, 4.53 ERA, 1.63 WHIP), taking on Joey Wentz (11-8, 4.34 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). I had to give the tired Thomas Dillard a day off for Nick Feight. I love Boone so far, but sometimes his lineups are weird looking, but they usually work, so I can't complaing. Just like today, we won 3-2. For example, hitting Brendan Rodgers 4th doesn't make too much sense, but he was 2-for-3 with a walk and clutch RBI. This is a weird one, Puckett went just 4 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts, before Shoehi Ohtani went to pitch. He allowed 2 runs in 0.1 innings with a hit and walk. Edward Cabrera, Phil Maton, Luiz Gohara, and Joe Jimenez earned holds while Yasukazu Shiotani got the save. Cole Roederer was 3-for-5 with a double, 2 runs scored, RBI, and steal. Adam Haseley was 0-for-3, but waked and stole a base. Mickey Moniak was 0-for-4, but walked, scored, and stole a base. September 3rd, 2023: The Phillies will be without Aaron Nola for the rest of this year and most of last year with a torn labrum. It happened against us in his first start of this year after a torn UCL a year ago. Nola looks like a shell of himself, and his 7-year, $241,500,000 contract he signed prior to the 2022 season is starting to look like it's going to be an awful investment. We looked to finish the road sweep, yes road sweep, with Walker Buehler (10-6, 3.61 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) taking on Mike Soroka (11-8, 3.14 ERA, 0.98 WHIP). Soroka hates facing us, and is 0-3 with a 7.24 ERA this year against us. We extended our lead to two with an 8-1 win, going to Atlanta and sweepping the Braves. Buehler went just 4 innings, with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. A little shocked about the short hook, but we still won. Burnes got the win, pitching a perfect 5th. Thomas Dillard was 3-for-5 with a homer, a steal, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI's. Seth Beer was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and a hit by pitch. Micket Moniak was 1-for-4 with a walk and 3 run homer. Nolan Gorman was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Cole Roederer was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a walk and double. After sweeping our now trailer, we're off to face the 70-66 Reds for three. We'd see Huner Greene (10-9, 4.48 ERA), Bobby Stiles (8-7, 4.77 ERA), and our old friend Zach Davies (7-9, 3.90 ERA). September 4th, 2023: We're up to 3rd in the Power Rankings, with Atlanta fallling down to 7th, one behind the Mets. Jake Florence (10-10, 4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) opened the series against Hunter Greene (10-9, 4.48 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) at Great American Ballpark. Speaking of Boone's lineups, one thing I really like is Thomas Dillard hitting 2nd. He had another great game, and we extended our win streak with a 5-0 shutout. Florence was brilliant, despite just 2 strikeouts. He went 6.1 innings, allowing just 3 hits and a walk. Luiz Gohara finished the 7th and got a hold, but we extended the lead to 5 in the top of the 8th. All five of our runs came via the homerun. Dillard was 3-for-4 with a pair of homers (solo and two run). Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-3 with a wlk and solo homer. September 5th, 2023: We looked to win our 5th straight (all on the road), with Jameson Taillon (6-5, 4.73 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) taking on Bobby Stiles (8-7, 4.77 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). Another good pitching outign lead to a 7-1 win as we won our 81st game of the year. One more and we'll finish over .500 for the 3rd straight year. Taillon was great, 7 innings with 5 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Corbin Burnes and Max Povse both got an inning, the former with a walk and 2 strikeouts, the latter with 2 hits and a strikeout. I think Burnes will move back in the rotation next year, especially if injuries hit, but he's adujsuted well to the pen. It all rests on Taillon's player option and if Montgomery agrees to the extension. Micket Moniak had a great game, 3-for-5 with a run, 2 RBI's, and a double. Seth Beer was 3-for-5. Jose Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk, homer, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. But here's the most interesting statline of the da: Taillon was 0-for-3, but scored twice and stole a base. Not too sure what happened their, but hey, that's pretty cool! The D'Backs Brice Turang was 5-for-6 in a 15-4 win over the Dodgers. Funny thing about Arizona, they aren't bad, 70-68, but they're 6-1 against us. September 6th, 2023: Lewis Brinson suffered a setback and will miss another 4 weeks, and he may not be ready come playoff time. Jordan Montgomery officially agreed to the extension I offered him. He'll make $120,000,000 for the duration of the contract, and the fans are thrilled. In 5 years in Miami and 2 in New York, he's 60-43 with a 3.48 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 851 strikeouts with just 245 walks in 992.1 innings. We looked to make it back-to-back road sweeps with the newley extended Montgomery (6-2, 3.58 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on his former teammate Zach Davies (7-9, 3.90 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We pummelted our former pitcher to finish the sweep with an 11-2 win. I could not have expected a better end to the 9 game road trip! Montgomery was brilliant, showing the baseball world why he deserved that extension, tossing 6 shutout innings with just 2 hits, a single walk, and 5 strikeouts. Edward Cabrera allowed 2 runs in 2 innings off 4 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Jose Ramirez had a monster game, 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, 6 RBI's, and was a triple away from the cycle. Brendan Rodgers was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a double. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-5 with a double and steal. Cole Roederer was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's, a sac fly, and a double. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a double, walk, and 2 runs scored. Our road record is now a more respectable 32-39, and we'll head home with an off day tomorrow. At home, we're an impressive 50-18, the best in the league. September 7th, 2023: Today, the first team was eliminated from postseason contention, as the 53-88 Yankees can no longer make the playoffs. Aaron Boone's former employer's have a $206,684,250 payroll, the 6th highest, which is almost double ours. The last place Phillies will come to town for three as we start a long stretch of baseball. At 58-81, they sit 24 games out of first. We'd see Sixto Sanchez (5-10, 4.71 ERA), Ross Stripling (6-6, 4.31 ERA), and Cole Bellinger (1-2, 6.10 ERA). Looking back at the division, the Braves continued their fall all the way down to third, and our 4 games out of first, but have a 4 game lead over the Dodgers for the 2nd Wild Card spot. The new 2nd place Mets are 3.5 out of first at 79-61. We sit a top at 82-57. Only the Padres have a better record then us, and we share the same record as Oakland. Don't forget, we did sweep the Friars who have one 8 of their last 10. Down in the Minors, it looks like New Orleans will be the only team representing us in the postseason. They're up 1-0 in the first round against Colorado Springs. Young SP Tim Cate was diagnosed with an injury, and may not be able to play in the bigs despite being on the 40-man roster. He played in 51 games with 6 starts last year for the Mariners, but spent all of this year in AAA. Another thing to now, obviously, every GM will have his fair share of bad trades, and the ones that stick out the most are with the Mariners. They were rebuilding, but are a shocking 73-67 this year, mostly because of there top two starters Juan Villasenor and Mitchell White. I mentioned Villasenor a little while back, but I also traded them White. Now a 3.5, I sent him and Javier Garcia to them for Evan White and Max Roberts. White would've helped in the rotation so much, and despite White being a solid player, I could really have used White, especially since I traded White back to them after getting him from the Dodgers. White went back in the James Pazos trade, and Pazos made just 1 spring apperaence before tearing his rotator cuff and has dropped from a 5 to 3. Make that three trades the Mariners and good ol' Jerry Dipoto has bested me in, although the Lane Adams trade where I finessed 4 big leaguers from them. I looked at all the trades with the Mariners, and the rest include Drew Steckenrider for Tim Cate (wash currently), Pavin Smith for Reizo Honda (mega steal for me), Joe Dunand for Griffin Roberts (wash), Alex Cobb for Dan Atlavilla (loss for both sides), and Johnny Giavotella for Nathan Bannister and J.J. Hardy (slight win). |

September 8th-September 14th
September 8th, 2023: We hosted the Phillies to start a 7 game NL East homestand. A.J. Puckett (7-6, 4.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP) got the ball against Sixto Sanchez (5-10, 4.71 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) in the opener as we looked to stay hot. We treated the home fans to a nice 11-4 series opening victory.
Puckett was great, 6 innings with a run, 4 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeotus in 6 innings. Luiz Gohara and Ben Popkin got holds while pitching the 7th before we scored 2 in the bottom half. Corbin Burnes allowed 3 unearned runs after a Seth Beer in the 8th, getting 2 of the outs with 2 hits, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Koda Glover finished the 8th, and since it was a save situation before we scored 5 in the bottom half, he pitched the 9th as well and earned a save. Adam Haseley was a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 walks, a double, 3 runs scored, and an RBI. Seth Beer was 3-for-5 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with a double and 2 runs scored and driven in. Sheohi Ohtani was 1-for-5 with a three run homer. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a walk, run, and double. September 9th, 2023: Walker Buehler (10-6, 3.57 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) got the start against Ross Stripling (6-6, 4.31 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) in a battle of former Dodgers. We allowed 5 in the 8th and the game went to extras. Seth Beer took Daniel Camarena deep in an 11 pitch at bat to walk off 6-5 winners. Buehler was near perfect, 6 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts.. Gohara got a hold, but then Popkin allowed 5 in an inning with a strikeout. Joe Jimenez got the win, striking out the side in the top of the 10th. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-5 with a steal. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a run scored, 3 RBI's, and a walk, as well as a 2 run homer. September 10th, 2023: Despite winning their division last year, the Rockies have been eliminated from postseason contention. At 56-85, they're 37 games behind the Padres. We looked to finish the sweep with Jake Florence (11-10, 3.87 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) taking on JoJo Romero (8-12, 4.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). It was a low scoring affair, and we came out winners, this time 2-1 as we've won 9 straight. Florence was great, 5 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Koda Glover, Tyler Jay, and Joe Jimenez got holds while Yasukazu Shiotani earned his 31st save. Jimenez allowed a run in the 8th with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a walk, double, and RBI. Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored. Seth Beer was 2-for-3. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk. Atlanta is back in 2nd, but 5 games out, and they come to town for four. Hopefully, we can keep on winning, but I'm not expecting another sweep. We'll see most of the rotation, Sean Wymer (4-6, 3.02 ERA), Sean Newcomb (1-1, 5.73 ERA), Mike Soroka (12-9, 3.23 ERA), and Joey Wentz (11-9, 4.32 ERA) in the four game divisional set. September 11th, 2023: We're up to 2nd in the power rankings, behind just the perennial #1 Padres. We eliminated the Phillies from the playoffs yesterday. They're 58-84 and 27 games out of first. I activated Scott Kingery from the DL today, and with the end of the A+ season, I was able to make more callups. I brought up relievers Ernesto Estrella, Dustin May, Shane Smith, and Brett Conine. I'd make the more callups tomorrow when the AA season ends. I have 33 of 40 guys on the active roster, with one on the MLB DL, two on the AAA DL, and the rest in AAA. I plan on leaving Tylor Megill and Nick Neidert in AAA until the postseason ends, as they both are starting there. We opened the Braves series with Jordan Montgomery (7-2, 3.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) facing Sean Wymer (4-6, 3.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). Against us this season, Wymer is 0-2, but carries a 1.64 ERA. We brought the streak to double digits with a 5-2 win to kick off the series. Montgomery was elite, 8 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 9 strikeout. Shiotani pitched the 9th and earned a save with just 1 hit in the 9th. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 3 RBI's, and a homer. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with a walk, hit by pitch, and solo homer. He also swiped his 17th base, very impressive for a catcher. Mickey Moniak out did him, however, swiping 3 in a 1-for-3 game with a run scored and 2 walks. Montgomery hit well, going 2-for-3 with a RBI and improved his average to .231. Drew Pomeranz, now 34, tossed a 2-hit shutout in a 3-0 Rangers win over Houston. He's been a Ranger since 2019, but hasn't had the most success. September 12th, 2023: Corbin Clouse and Jensen Elliot have rejoined the big league club in preperation for today's game. Jameson Taillon (7-5, 4.42 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) battled Sean Newcomb (1-1, 5.73 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) as we looked to have my best win streak in charge. I had a 10 game streak before, possibly eariler this season. It was a close one, but a 5 run 5th helped us earn the 7-6 win. Two players left with injuries, Taillon and Gohara. Taillon is headed to the DL for hopefully the minimum with a strained back while Gohara's diagnosis is pending. Taillon went just 2, allowing a run, hit, and strikeout. Ohtani pitched an inning, 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. I don't know why someone with such good stuff always seems to give up runs. Max Povse got the win, 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Phil Maton, Gohara, and Popkin got holds, while Ernesto Estrella earned the save, the first of his career in his 2023 debut. Koda Glover failed to record an out, and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits. Mickey Moniak was 3-for-5 with a run scored and two more stolen bases. Jose Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a 2 run homer. Nick Feight was 1-for-4 with a grand sal, although he's hitting just .183 this year. September 13th, 2023: Wow, here's a huge injury. The young 25-year-old ace of the best team in baseball Sam Keating has had a career ending torn rotator cuff. Keating was 18-4 this year with a 3.30 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 149 strikeouts in 171.2 innings. If it's any consolation, the Padres clinched their division, but I bet there is a lot more tears then laughs today in the clubhouse. This is a huge blow to the rotation, as they now have just 3 dependables starters, although two have ERA's north of 4. We looked to keep rolling through with A.J. Puckett (8-6, 4.20 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) facing the Canadian Mike Soroka (12-9, 3.23 ERA, 1.01 WHIP) who's 0-4 with a 7.79 ERA against us this season. He finally got a good start against us, and they ended our streak with a 5-1 win. Puck was hurt with a Thomas Dillard error, and allowed 3 (1 earned) in 5 with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. Phil Maton started the 2nd, but allwoed 2 hits and 2 runs without getting an out. The rest of the pen combined for 5 innings with just 1 hit, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Seth Beer and Nolan Gorman were both 2-for-4. Scott Kingery was 1-for-4 with a RBI triple. Cole Reoderer was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and steal. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a walk. Even with the loss, we still have 6 game leads over Atlanta and the Mets. September 14th, 2023: Luiz Gohara is headed to the DL with a strained back. The 27-year-old has had a solid season out of the pen with us this year, 65 games with 47.1 innings and a 3.61 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 61 strikeouts. We looked to win the series with Corbin Burnes (11-7, 4.26 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) returning to the rotation against Joey Wentz (11-9, 4.32 ERA, 1.36 WHIP). We couldn't score, and dropped the finale 1-0. Worst part? We game up just 1 hit all game... Burnes allowed the single hit and an unearned run (his error) in 5 innings with a walk and 4 strikeouts. The rest of the pen combined for 4 innings with a walk and 5 strikeouts. Jose Ramirez was 4-for-5 with a double, and we still couldn't score a run... Mickey Moniak was 1-for-4 with a walk and double. When Moniak doubled, it was the only at bat Ramirez didn't get a hit. Brendan Rodger was 1-for-4 with a double. We got a long road trip ahead of us, starting with the Nationals. We'd see Breiling Eusebio (9-9, 3.23 ERA), Tyler Lyons (4-5, 3.97 ERA), and Sonny Warner (8-11, 4.48 ERA) as we looked to inch closer to the playoffs. At 87-59 with a 5 game lead, our playoff percentage is a shocking 100% with a magic number of 12 for the division. While technically not 100%, we've almost clinched a playoff spot, as we have a 8.5 game over the Dodgers who are trailing the Mets for the 2nd Wild Card spot. Sidenote: As we approach the playoffs, I'd like to announce the future plans for a new dynasty report. Once the Marlins are "fixed" and win a World Series, I will possibly start a report with the Orioles, trying to fix the terrible situation they are in. It will follow the same format as this league does. Fear not Marlin fans, this dynasty will definitely live on, as I love my Marlins too much to ever give up. While it will take sort of a back seat to this new one, I will definitely keep this one going for as long as I can, hopefully meaning forever, although that's a little unlikely. The Orioles will be my last dynasty on OOTP 19, if I start another, although I'm guessing when 20 comes out I'll do one with another rebuilding team that looks like they have very little shot of being good ever. |

September 15th-September 20th
September 15th, 2023: Poor Sean Newcomb... Another huge injury as he tore his labrum, and he'll miss the rest of this year and most of next year. He made just 3 starts this season, going 1-1 with a 4.11 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.
The Tigers will be without RHP Tom Robson for all of this year and part of next year with a partially torn labrum. He was 4-7 with 70 relief appearences and a 3.95 ERA. We opened the series with Walker Buehler (10-6, 3.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) on the mound against Breiling Eusebio (9-9, 3.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). Eusebio is 2-0 with a 2.10 ERA against us this year. We crushed the Nats 10-3 to start the series off with a bang. Buehler was great, 6 innings with just 2 hits, a run, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Ben Pokin earned a hold, and Joe Jimenez got a 1.2 inning save since we scored 4 in the 9th. Ernesto Estrella allowed 2 runs in 0.1 innnings with 2 walks and a hit. Nick Gordon bruised his knee after being hit by a pitch, and will be DTD for about a week. His replacement, Nolan Gorman was 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's, and a homer. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-5 with a double, triple, 2 RBI's, and a run scored. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-3 with a double. Ryan Mountcastle was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's with a walk. September 16th, 2023: Jameson Taillon's recovery hasn't gone alone as planned, and it is unknown when he'll return. He still has 7 days on the DL, however, but the doctors don't know when we should expect him back. The Giants were eliminated from the playoffs today. At 67-81, they're 31.5 games behind the 98-49 Padres. They have 10 more wins then any other team (us with 88). We looked to take the middle game with Jake Florence (12-10, 3.75 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) battling Tyler Lyons (4-5, 2.97 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) who's making just his 4th start of the year, although his bullpen time came with St. Louis who released him on the 27th of August. I gave Gordon the day off for Gorman. Gorman is hitting .305 with 3 homers and 10 RBI's in his brief stint. The bats kept ot up, and we won 10-4. Florence had a shaky start, 4 innings with 8 hits, 4 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella earned his first big league game with a perfect 5th that got him a strikeout. Brett Conine and Koda Glover got holds, but we scored 3 in the 8th to put it out of reach. Shoehi Ohtani had a perfect game, 4-for-4 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, 2 homers, and a double, just a triple away from the cycle. He wasn't perfect running, 1-for-2 on steals. Ryan Mountcastle was 1-for-5 with a solo shot. Thomas Dillard was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run, and 3 RBI's. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a double, steal, and run scored. Cole Roederer was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and was 1-for-2 on steals. Jose Ramirez had a pinch hit RBI double and later scored in the big 8th. September 17th, 2023: The Braves will be without young RP Cole Winn for the year as he'll have to undergo shoulder surgery. The former 2nd rounder was 6-1 with 3 saves and a 2.93 ERA with a 0.89 WHIp in 95.1 innings. He also struck out 116 with just 26 walks. We looked to finish the sweep with Jordan Montgoemry (8-2, 3.32 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on Sonny Warner (8-11, 4.48 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). Gordon was in the lineup today as I plan to do an every other game until he's healthy. We rallied for 2 in the top of the 9th to finish the sweep with a 6-5 win. Monty wasn't bad, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) in 4.1 innings with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Ohtani allowed a hit and a walk with 2 runs and 3 strikeouts in 2 innings. It actually lowered his ERA... You may ask, why do I keep pitching Ohtani? Well, he should be a good pitcher... Joe Jimenez got a win and Tasukazu Shiotani got the save. Koda Glover also allowed a run off a hit and strikeout in 0.2 innings. For some reason, Carlos Soler was hitting cleanup, but man he did amazing. He was 4-for-5 with a 2 run homer and the go-ahead 2 RBI single. See? Boone really knows what he's doing. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-3 with 2 walks, 2 runs, an RBI, and a homer off former Marlin Nick Rumbelow. Cole Roederer was 1-for-3 with his 30th steal of the year. The hindered Nick Gordon was 1-for-5 with a solo shot. Our lead is up to 7 as we travel to the Big Apple for three with the Mets. We'd face David Peterson (9-4, 4.65 ERA) who they always try trading to me, Noah Syndergaard (7-12, 4.42 ERA), and 27-year-old superstar Brady Singer (12-10, 2.99 ERA). September 18th, 2023: I called up 2B Reizo Honda as his DL time expired today. He'd be set to make his debut. A 3/4.5 who spent a few years in the Nippon Professional League before coming over at just 23 in 2020, he's earned his spot on a big league roster. The Blue Jays have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 66-84, they're 22 games behind the 88-62 Rays. It's interesting how the Rays have done this every other year thing so far. We're still 2nd in the Power Rankings, the Padres are actually hotter then us right now. A.J. Puckett (8-7, 4.10 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) opened the series against Dustin Peterson (9-4, 4.65 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). I gave Gordon the day off and really shuffled the lineup. I have so many lefties, so it was hard to find someone to start. We shut them down for the most part, winning the opener 4-1. Puck went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Joe Jimenez and Tyler Jay earned holds and Shiotani got the save. Ohtani was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a solo shot. Mickey Moniak was 3-for-5 with a double, RBI, and steal. Scott Kingery was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Carlos Soler got a pinch hit single in the 9th, stole second, and scored. Michael Fulmer tossed a 2-hit shutout as the Tigers beat the Twins 6-0. September 19th, 2023: Corbin Burnes (11-8, 4.10E RA, 1.16 WHIP) got game two against Noah Syndergaard (7-12, 4.42 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). Reizo Honda made his big league debut and will hit 8th and play second. It took 12 innings, but former Marlin Albert Almora hit a walk off 2-run homer off Jensen Elliot as the Mets evened the series with a 8-6 win. We used 11 ptichers in this one. Burnes went just 4.2 with 8 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrealla, Ben Popkin, Tyler Jay, and Brett Conine earned holds. Shiotani got one too, bud didn't deserve it since the 2 runs in the 9th we allowed were his. Joe Jimenez was charged with the blown save, allowing a hit and walk with just 1 out. Shiotani allowed 2 hits and 2 runs, with a strikeout for his only out. Elliot went 0.1 innings with 2 hits and 2 runs. Shohei Ohtani signled handedly tried to win this game, 3-for-6 with 2 runs scored, 5 RBI's, and was a triple away from the cycle. Cole Roederer was 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a walk and double. Honda's debut wasn't as planned, 0-for-3 before being substituted for in the 5th in a double switch. September 20th, 2023: Fresh off a PCL Championship, Nick Neidert and Tylor Megill have both been recalled from New Orleans. They'd pitch out of the pen for us. We finished the series with Walker Buehler (11-6, 3.37 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) dueling Brady Singer (12-10, 2.99 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) in a classic Ace-Off. Gordon is now fully healed from his injury as well. The Mets got the best of us, winning the series and finale, 6-2. Buehler allowed 6 hits and 3 rusn in 3.2 innings with just 2 strikeotus. Max Povse allowed 2 (1 earned) in 0.2 innings with 2 hits. Phil Maton allowed a run in the 8th with a hit and strikeout. Megill pitched 1.2 innings out of the pen with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-2 off the bench with a double. Our last hit was a Thomas Dillard single. We'll finish the road trip with 4 in Philly. At 91-61, we look set to break our single season win record of 93 that we set two seasons ago and will improve on our last year's record of 92-70. We'd face Cole Bellinger (1-3, 7.52 ERA), Marcos Molina (6-14, 4.92 ERA), Sixto Sanchez (6-11, 4.74 ERA), and JoJo Romero (9-14, 4.70 ERA). |

September 21st-September 27th
September 21st, 2023: We open the four games set at Citizens Bank Park with Jake Florence (12-10, 3.88 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) battling the young Cole Bellinger (1-3, 7.52 ERA, 1.67 WHIP). Florence has been hot as of late, as well as Thomas Dillard and Shoehi Ohtani. Our losing streak continued as Dan Vogelback hit a walk off sac fly in the 10th, as we lost 10-9, despite scoring 3 in the 8th and 9th.
Florence had a rough outing, 5 runs on 7 hits, and a walk in 3.1 innings with just 2 strikeouts. Nick Neideret allowed a run, hit, walk, and struck out 3 in 1.1 innings. Brett Conine couldn't get an out and allowed 3 runs off 3 hits. Ben Popkin got the loss, 1.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a run. Nolan Gorman was 3-for-5 with a homer, run scored, and 2 RBIs. Seth Beer was 2-for-6 with a solo shot. Carlos Soler got a pinch hit 2 run homer in the 8th. Reizo Honda was 1-for-3 with his first big league hit. Adam Haseley was 3-for-4 with a walk, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's, and a double. Jose Ramirez hit a pinch hit 2 run double in the 9th. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with 2 walks, 2 runs, a steal, and double. Nick Gordon was 2-for-6. September 22nd, 2023: The NL Central leading Cubs will be without CL Michael Feliz for the postseason and most of next year with a torn flexor tendon. "Fuego" Feliz was having a great first year in Chicago, 37 saves and a 1.37 ERA with 103 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. The Braves locked up LHP A.J. Minter for 2 more seasons, paying 9 million a year. From 2017-2023, Minter has a career 2.95 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 241 strikeouts, 44 saves, and 4 shocking starts in 155.2 innings. Game two saw Jordan Montgomery (8-2, 3.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) taking on Marcos Molina (6-14, 4.92 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) as we look to bounce back. The skid continued with a 6-4 loss. Montgomery had a rough start, 4 runs in 3.2 innings with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Dustin May allowed a run in 1.1 innings with 3 hits and a strikeout. Brett Conine allowed a run in an inning off a hit and strikeout. His ERA is a beautiful 19.64... Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo shot. Nick Feight was 1-for-3 with a run shot. Brendan Rodgers was 3-for-4 with a double and run scored. September 23rd, 2023: I added two more arms to the roster with the activation of both Jameson Taillon and Tim Cate. The Rays clinched the East with. Manager Joe Girardi has lead the team to a 90-64 record. Jameson Taillon (7-5, 4.43 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) earned the start against Sixto Sanchez (6-11, 4.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) as we desperately looked for a win. Instead, the stupid last place Phillies blew us out 11-3 and we're a game away from the sweep. We also still have just 91 wins... Taillon pitched alright, 5.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Ben Popkin got hit hard, 5 runs and 3 hits with 2 walks with just 1 out. Koda Glover also struggled, an inning of work with 5 hits, 4 runs, and a walk. Carlos Soler was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Seth Beer was 2-for-3 with a solo shot of his own. Reizo Honda was 1-for-4 with a double. Our lead has slipped to just 4.5 and we've dropped 5 in a row. I hate how streaky we can be... September 24th, 2023: We looked to avoid the sweep with A.J. Puckett (9-7, 3.93 ERA, 1.54 WHIP) facing JoJo Romero (9-14, 4.70 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). Bryce Harper loves facing Puckett, hitting over .360 career against him. We finally won, in a nice 5-1 series finale. Puckett went 6 with 4 hits, a run, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. His ERA is now down to 3.82 after a dreadful start to the year that lead to his demotion. Ben Popking got a hold while pitching a perfect 7th. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a steal, double, and RBI. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and pair of doubles. Scott Kingery was 2-for-3 with a double, walk, run scored, and RBI. Cole Roederer was 1-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and three RBI's. His statline looks like he should have a homer run, but trust me, he didn't hit one. We're back home for three before a much needed day off. We'd host the Mets, who are 4.5 games behing us. We'd see Chris Sale (4-1, 4.02 ERA), Brady Singer (13-10, 2.90 ERA), and the struggling Jacob deGrom (2-4, 5.08 ERA). September 25th, 2023: There will be postseason baseball for the Marlins, as we clinched a playoff spot after yesterday's win. At 92-64, we are in shape to win our division. Shockingly, we remain 2nd in the Power Rankings even with the 5 game losing streak we just snapped. The Cubs clinched their division today. At 87-69, they hold a 7 game lead over the Reds. They'll get to defend their title this season after going all the way last year. Brady Singer (13-10, 2.90 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) skipped Sale in another ace-off against Walker Buehler (11-7, 3.45 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) who's been great recently. All the runs were scored in the first 3 innings, and we won 4-2. Buehler went just 5, allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Tyler Jay, Phil Maton, and Joe Jimenez got holds while Yasukazu Shiotani got the save. Tehy all combined for just a single hit and walk with 6 strikeouts in 4 innings. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, run scored, RBI, and was caught stealing. Cole Roederer, who hit fourth for some reason, was 1-for-4 with a steal. Boone has hit so many differenet guys fourth, but they generally get hits. Nick Feight was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI's. Nolan Gorman was 1-for-3 with a double and he scored as well. September 26th, 2023: The A's clinched the AL West today. At 90-66, they have a 7.5 game lead over the Rangers. This is their first postseason appearence since 2014. The Reds were eliminated from the postseason today. At 80-76, they can no longer win the Wild Card. Jake Florence (12-10, 4.07 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) and Chris Sale (4-1, 4.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) dueled in a battle of former White Sox first rounders. Sale was taken 13th Overall way back in 2010. Our bats gave the home fans a show as we won 8-2. Florence was solid, 6 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Koda Glover and Tyler Jay earned holds in the 7th before we broke away. Ernesto Estrella finished the last two innings with 3 strikeouts. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubels and 4 RBI's. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with 3 walks, 3 runs scored, and his 20th steal of the year. I have no idea who the last catcher to steal at least 20 bases was. Seth Beer was 2-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and RBI. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. September 27th, 2023: It's official, and in year #30, the Marlins have won their first NL East Title. Our 6.5 game lead over Atlanta and New York is too much to overcome, and we finally, finally, finally can't be eliminated after just 1 game. But first, we looked to finish the sweep with Jordan Montgomery (8-3, 3.46 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Jacob deGrom (2-4, 5.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) who is now 35. The Mets edged us 5-4, as they need the win far more then we do. Montgomery had a rough outing, 3 runs off 5 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Max Povse allowed a run in 1.2 innings off a hit and a strikeout. Koda Glover was charged with the loss, allowing a run in 0.2 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout. Reizo Honda was 2-for-2 with an RBI, but left with an injruy. Shoehi Ohtani hit his 22nd homer in a 1-for-3 outing with a walk. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-3 with a walk, triple, and run scored. Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and a double. We have tomorrow off, before we have our final series of the year, a three game set hosting the Chicago White Sox. It's almost playoff time in Miami, which will finally get to host a playoff game in my tenure. We've still sold out every game this year, so I'm guessing the NLDS tickets have already sold out. |

September 28th-October 3rd
September 28th, 2023: Lewis Brinson is back just in time for the final series of the year, and has been activated from the disabled list.
The Orioles lost former Marlin Jeff Hoffman to a torn rotator cuff and will miss most of next year as well. With Baltimore, he never was as good as he was with me, and he's how I got Ryan Mountcastle. He'll finish this year 8-7 with a 5.50 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, on par with his career stats. September 29th, 2023: Reizo Honda is headed to the DL with a sprained ankle. Obviously, his season is over, but it'll be a quick recovery for the rookie. Jensen Elliot was named American Confrence Reliever of the Year while pitching for New Orleans. In 40 appearences, he pitched 87.1 innings with 87 strikeouts, and was 6-0 with a 1.75 ERA. The former 7th Rounder in 2018 is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA and 1.66 WHIP for us in the majors in 12.2 innings. We opened the final series of the year, hosting the Chicago White Sox for three. Jameson Taillon (7-6, 4.36 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) got the start against Hector Antonio Perez (6-9, 5.75 ERA, 1.69 WHIP). Brinson was back in the lineup, hitting 8th and playing RF. The bats exploded for 5 in the first, 4 in the 2nd, and 4 in the third, and we held of the Sox 15-10. Taillon did not pitch well, 2.2 innings with 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeout. Shoehi Ohtani got the win, but allowed 3 in 0.1 innings with 3 hits and a strikeout. He's not pitching in the playoffs... Ben Popkin and Tyler Jay got holds pitching the 7th and 8th. Cole Roederer was perfect, except he now has a mild calf strain. I'm benching him for the rest of the regular season to be sage. He was 4-for-4 with 2 runs scored, a walk, 4 RBI's, a pair of doubles and was a homer away from the cycle. He was an absolute steal in the Rule-5 Draft. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-6 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, and a homer. Mickey Moniak was 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and 2 steals. In just 84 games, he has 31 steals. Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with 2 walks, 2 runs, an RBI, and steal. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a sac fly and 2 RBI's. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a sac fly, 2 walks, run scored, and RBI. September 30th, 2023: The Boston Red Sox were eliminated from the playoffs. At 81-79, they're 3 games out of the AL Wild Card hunt, although 7 teams are fighting for 2 spots. Walker Buehler (12-7, 3.46 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) took on Dane Dunning (9-12, 5.06 ERA, 1.54 WHIP) in game 161. We took the middle game 7-2 and will look to finish the sweep tomorrow. Buehler went 5.2 innings, allowing a run, 4 hits, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Koda Glover got a hold, 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Max Povse and Corbin Burnes both tossed scorless frames to finish the game. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a double. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a double. Seth Beer was 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Carlos Soler was 1-for-4 with a double. Adam Haseley was 1-for-3 with a 2 run double and a walk. September 31st, 2023: Here's something I didn't expect, Garrett McDaniels was activated from the DL. I acquired him a long time back in the Felipe Rivero deal, but didn't expect him to be ready for the season. I trasnfered Honda to the 60-Day DL to activate him. The Texas Rangers are headed to the playoffs and will host the Wild Card Game. At 86-75, it's their first appearence since 2017. With their clinch, the Tigers have been eliminated. Atlanta clinched a wild card berth, and have a 1 game lead over the Mets and 1.5 game lead over the Dodgers. I made a lot of changes for the final game. I let Jake Florence (13-10, 4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) pitch aagainst his former team and Grant Townsend (3-1, 4.24 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) to show them what they'd be missing out on. I also rested a lot of my starters in the final game of the year. We tried coming back, but lost game 162, 4-3 to finish the season 96-66. Flornece went just 4, allowing 6 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeotus. THe rest of the pen combined for 5 innings of no hit ball, with just a single walk, while striking out 5. Nick Gordon was the only starter who started, going 2-for-4 with a run scored, walk, RBI, double, and homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a walk and two run homer. Nolan Gorman was 0-for-3, but walked, scored, and stole a bases. And even though we lost, at least we didn't get hurt. October 2nd, 2023: The NL Playoffs are set, but the AL is not. Representing the Senior Circut is as follows: NL East Miami Marlins (96-66) Atlanta Braves (91-71) New York Mets (89-73) NL Central Chicago Cubs (90-72) NL West San Diego Padres (103-59) The Mariners and Astros will play a play in game tomorrow to decide the AL. October 3rd, 2023: Luiz Gohara is back on the big league roster. Forrest Whitely (7-19, 4.38 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) took on Mitchell Whtie (10-10, 3.50 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) in game 163 between the Astros and Mariners. Whitely was too much, as the Astros won 4-1 to edge the Mariners for the 2nd Wild Card Spot. They'd face the Ragners. Here's who's representing the Junior Circut AL East Tampa Bay Rays (93-69) AL Central Minnesota Twins (85-77) AL West Oakland Athletics (93-69) Texas Rangers (87-75) Houston Astros (86-77) We'd host the Cubs in the ALDS, and finally don't have to worry about the 1-game sudden death Wild Card game that we can never seem to win... Our only leaderboard figures was Walker Buehler, who finished 2nd in strikeouts with 216. He trailed just Cubs ace Jorge Flores with 226. Here's our final statistics: |

Wild Card and Divisional Series
October 5th, 2023: The Rangers crushed the Astros 14-2 to win the AL Wild Card game, and will face Tampa in the ALDS.
October 6th, 2023: Atlanta edged New York 3-1 and will face the unbeatbale Padres in the NLDS. October 7th, 2023: Today the ALDS started. Tampa beat Texas 5-3 and Oakland walked off with Matt Olson's second of two solo homers to beat Minnesota 2-1. Both teams are up 1-0. October 8th, 2023: Let's start with the only game that matters: the pitcher's with the highest strikeouts in the NL Walker Buehler (13-7, 3.40 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) and Jorge Flores (15-6, 3.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) opened the best of 5 series in front of a packed Marlins Park. It took 13 innings, but the Cubs topped us 5-4 in the opener. Nick Gordon and Scott Kingery both left with DTD injuries, but it's the playoffs, so they're playing through it! Poor Buehler... 6 scorless with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.. Luiz Gohara allowed a hit to the only batter he faced, who later scored. Ben Popking finishted the 7th, 2 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiontani went for the two innings save and allowed a run in 1.1 with a hit, walk, and strikeout. Joe Jimenez blew the game, 0.2 innings with 3 hits and a run. Former Cub Phil Maton got the loss, 1.1 innings with a hit and run and strikeout. Seth Beer was 4-for-5 with a walk, RBI, and a double. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-6 with a walk, solo homer, and 2 total runs scored. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-5 with a walk and solo shot. Gordon was 2-for-2 with a double before leaving with injury, being replaced by Kingery who was 1-for-2 before being reaplced by Ryan Mountcastle, who was 0-for-2 after leaving hurt. San Diego crushed Atlanta 11-2 to take a 1-0 lead. Oakland jumped ahead 2-0 with a 13-6 win over the Twins. Texas evened the series with a 7-6 win over the Rays. October 9th, 2023: We looked to even the series with Jordan Montgomery (8-3, 3.56 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) taking on Justin Dunn (15-9, 3.88 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). The pen was much better today, and we evened the series with a 6-2 win. This is my first postseason win, now 1-3. Montgomery was amazing, 7 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Shoitani got a 2 inning save this time, and was perfect with 2 strikeouts. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a three run homer and 4 total RBI's. Rodgers hit another solo homer and was 1-for-4. Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored, a double, and an RBI. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk. Atlanta shockingly shut out San Diego 8-0 to bring the series to Atlanta. October 10th, 2023: We got the day off today as we headed to Chicago for 2 games. Tampa took a 2-1 lead with a 5-1 win over the Rangers. The Twins survived, winning 7-2 to force a game 4 with Oakland. October 11th, 2023: Jameson Taillon (7-6, 4.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) took on Robbie Ray (12-10, 5.48 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) as we looked to take the series lead. Wrigley was packed at night, and we scilenced the home team with a 4-1 win to take the 2-1 lead. Taillon went 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Joe Jimenez earned a hold, and then Ben Popkin finished the final 1.2 innings to get the save. The rookie struck out 2 and didn't allow a base runner. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the 2nd and a 2 run homer in the 9th. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Jose Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored. San Diego won 5-4 with 2 in the 9th to take a 2-1 lead. Tampa finished the series with a 13-3 destruction of the Rangers. They'll face Oakland, who edged Minnesota 3-2. They have the same record, but Tampa has homefield advantage throughout the AL, although will give it up if either us or the Padres make the World Series. October 12th, 2023: Well, this one is a little werid... Corbin Burnes (11-8, 4.19 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) is getting the start against Jorge Flores (15-6, 3.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). Not sure why my #6 starter is getting the start, but I trust Boone. In a series deciding game, we combined for a 3-hit shutout and won 5-0. It's time for the NLCS BABY!!! I told ya, I don't know why Boone does things sometimes, but man he knows what he's doing! Burnes tossed 5 shutout innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Koda Glover got the win, 2 shutout innings with 4 strikeotus. Shiotani got a hold, an inning with a walk and 2 strikeouts and would've pitched the 9th, but we scored 4 in the 9th. Tyler Jay finished the 9th, and was perfect and got a strikeout. Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Scott Kingery came off the bench in a double switch, and was 1-for-2 with a 2 run double in the 9th. Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the 9th, and he scored a run as well. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a walk and RBI. We don't know who we're playing, as the Braves beat San Diego 6-5 to force Game 5. I really hope Atlanta wins, because we're super good against them, and will have homefield for the rest of the playoffs. October 13th, 2023: James Pazos is recovering well, and will be fully healed in 3-4 months. There's also no baseball today... MacKenzie Gore was too much for the Braves, tossing 7 shutout innings and striking out 11 in a 3-0 win to win the series. We'd have to go to San Diego to beat the Padres in a 7-game series. I'm confident in our team, I built them well, and in a series, anything is possible! |

League Championship Series and World Series
October 15th, 2023: The A's-Rays series starts first in Tampa today. Oakland tallied 9 runs to take the opener 9-3.
October 15th, 2023: Walker Buehler (13-7, 3.40 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) took on 34-year-old veteran Sam Runion (8-3, 3.83 ERA, 1.30 WHIP who really shouldn't be a big league pitcher. But he's had an amazing season, and even beat us earlier in the year. He was too much again, as we dropped the opener 4-2. Buehler allowed 4 runs in 6.2 innings with 5 hits an 8 strikeouts. Koda Glover and Joe Jimenez combined for the last 1.1 innings with 2 strikeouts. We had just 6 singles all game. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-4 and scored. Cole Roederer was 1-for-4 and drove in both runs with a single. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Tampa evened the series with a 6-4 win as the series shifts to Oakland. October 17th, 2023: We looked to even the series with Jordan Montgomery (8-3, 3.56 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) taking on Chris Rodriguez (9-12, 3.73 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). We were shutout 3-0 and headed home down 2-0... Monty allowed 2 runs in 6 innings off 5 hits, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Tyler Jay pitched the 7th and allowed a solo homer. We had just 4 hits today, and again, all singles. Moniak, Ohtani, Ramirez, and Gordon had the hits. October 18th, 2023: Oakland took a 2-1 lead with a 6-1 win at home. October 19th, 2023: Okay, we've got three at home starting with Jameston Taillon (7-6, 4.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) taking on MacKenzie Gore (6-6, 4.39 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). We have to show the home fans what we're made of! And that's exactly what happened, as the bats rallied for 8 in the 2nd en route to a 13-3 win. Taillon left with injury, after 2.2 perfect innings with 2 K's. Corbin Burnes replaced him, 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, 2 strikeouts, and the win. Phil Maton allowed 2 in 1.1 with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Tyler Jay allowed 1 more with a walk, hit, and strikeout in 0.2 innings. We actually only had 10 hits, but more then hald were for extra bases. Seth Beer hoemered twice in 2 at bats with a walk. He hit a solo shot and three run shot. Nick Feight hit a pinch hit solo homer, and latere walked and scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 driven in, and a walk to go with a home run. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, walk, and 2 driven in. Jose Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 3 RBi's and two runs scored. Oakland is a game away from the World Series after winning 5-3. October 20th, 2023: Taillon was diagnosed with a strained shoulder and will miss the rest of the playoffs. A.J. Puckett wil replace him on the playoff roster. Jake Florence (13-11, 4.15 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) got today's start against Dinelson Lamet (10-8, 4.58 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) as we looked to even the series. After 9 innings it was tied 2-2. We alowed a run in the 11th, and we're down 3-2. Nick Feight tied it up with a pinch hit RBI single. The next batter what Thomas Dillard, who doubled and drove in the winning run as we walked off 4-3 winners! Florence was effectively wild, 6 innings with 6 walks, just 1 hit, 1 run, and 44 strikeouts. Ben Popkin allowed a run on 2 hits in 0.2 innings with 2 strikeouts in the 7th. Joe Jimemnez allowed a run in his 2nd inning of relief work, but struck out 3 and allowed just 1 hit to get the "win" since we walked off in the bottom frame. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Today's hero Dillard was 2-for-3 with the walk-off RBI double and 3 walks. Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-5. Champagne was popped in Oakland as the A's beat Tampa 6-2 to clinch a World Series spot. They'd open the Series in either San Diego, or hopefully, Miami. October 21st, 2023: The Yankees inked LHP Chasen Shreve to a 2-year, $7,600,000 extension to stay in New York. He's coming off a 4-4 season with a 3.80 ERA. Our last home game of the series took place between Walker Buehler (13-7, 3.40 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) and Sam Runion (8-3, 3.83 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). If you noticed, I've been posting the regular season statistics and not included the playoffs, since on the game screen it just shwos regular season numbers. The Padres got one in the 9th to take the game 2-1 and head to San Diego with a 3-2 lead. Nick Gordon left with an injury that hopefully isn't serious... Buehler pitched well, 6 innigns with 2 hits, a run, 6 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Tyler Jay got the loss, a run off a hit and 2 walks in 0.2 innings. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, his 5th homer of the postseason. He's hitting .394 and has driven in 10. Mickey Moniak and Shoehi Ohtani were both 1-for-4, although Moniak recorded a steal. October 22nd, 2023: The Cubs extended former Marlin Reynaldo Lopez to a 2-year, $13,200,000 deal. The 29-year-old was 5-5 with a save and 4.64 ERA. October 23rd, 2023: Nick Gordon has an oblique strain and I have to pace him on the DL. I'm recalling 3B Nolan Gorman to replace him. Gorman is playing SS and hitting 8th as Jordan Montgomery (8-3, 3.56 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) looks to extend our season another game against Chris Rodriguez (9-12, 3.73 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). Well, it was a good run, and we were shut out 8-0... Montgomery allowed 5 runs in 4 innings off 5 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Koda Glovera allowed 3 (2 earned) more in 0.2 innings with 2 walks, a hit, and a strikeout. Phil Maton and A.J. Puckett tossed 3.1 shutout innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. We only got three hits, a pair of doubles and a single. Nolan Gorman was 1-for-2 in his postseason debut with a double and walk. Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a double. Joe Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a single. Our season ends today, so close to the beautiful World Series... I don't care too much about the Series, so there isn't going to be a game by game update. I hat to release Mike Clevinger, since he's now healthy, but also an impending free agent and it wasn't worth making room for him on the 40. Those Padres are just too good, and beat the A's 4-1 to win the first World Series in their history. Hopefully, they'll just tear down so I can win next season! The offseason starts tomorrow! |

Awards, Arbitration, and Pre-Free Agency
November 2nd, 2023: We're so close to the World Series that I can actually smell it. If we can become more consistent, I'm convinced we'll win in the next couple years. We even got a slight budget increase to $164,000,000 and I actually have moeny for free agents.
Jameson Taillon voided his player option, so I'll extend the qualifying offer to him. Jose Ramirez and Joe Jimenez will recieve one as well. Ramirez wants 25 million, Taillon over 22, and Jimenez over 17. It's risky with Jimenez, but worst case I just dump him on someone. My hitting coach Dave Magadan retired. I offered "Outstanding" and former Dodger hitting coach Carlos Rivera the job. The Mariners were bouoght by Tim DeLotto who's supposed to be an economizer. The Brewers fired manager Mike Fitzgerald after he went 48-48 as interim manager. I offered the former 1B a shot as my A- Batavia manager. Milwaukee also traded RHP Felix Jorge to the Padres for LF D.J. Peters. Both guys are former Marlins, and it's an even deal. I had to make a lot of room for DL players, so I released imprending free agent Koda Glover, DFA'd Brian Anderson (revocable since he was on the DL), DFA'd Dustin May, and DFA'd Jensen Elliot. Here's the arbitration cases: SP Walker Buehler (6-year, $139,150,000) SP Corbin Burnes (1-year, $4,580,000) SP A.J. Puckett (1-year, $9,390,000): I'm looking to trade him RP Edward Cabrera (1-year, $1,860,000) RP Corbin Clouse (1-year, $1,090,000) RP Luiz Gohara (1-year, $1,760,000) RP Tyler Jay (1-year, $2,560,000) RP Tanner Rainey (Non-Tendered) CL Yasukazu Shiotani (1-year, $10,330,000) 1B Ryan Mountcastle (1-year, $984,000) 2B Scott Kingery (1-year, $3,680,000) 2B Brendan Rodgers (1-year, $10,980,000): might move him 3B Brian Anderson (Non-Tendered) LF Lewis Brinson (1-year, $13,000,000): might move him There's a lot to do, as I won't have to do as much balancing as in past years, but I do need to make a few upgrades. November 3rd, 2023: I traded RP Dustin May to the Mets for 3B Blake Tiberi. Tiberi is acutally really good, a 3* 28-year-old with all three options left. I'd make 40-man room for him eventually. November 4th, 2023: A lot of teams claimed Elliot, but I'm more happy for him then upset. The Indians traded C Victor Caratini to the Mets for 1B Peter Alonso and CF Luis Flores. It's a fair enough deal, but advantage Mets for acquiring my former backstop in Caratini. To make room for Tiberi, I traded RP Brett Conine to the Mariners for SP Eric Armstrong. Armstrong, 23, is recovering from shoulder inflammation, but is a 1.5/2.5 with four plus pitches. The former 13th Rounder from 2021 is also non Rule-5 eligible so I can keep him in the minors. November 5th, 2023: Jensen Elliot was claimed by St. Louis, and Brian Anderson was released. I'm hopinh to add him back on a minor league deal later in the offseason. November 8th, 2023: The Brewers traded 2B Jorge Polanco to the Mariners for LHP Nelmerson Angela and LF Cooper Davis. It's a pretty solid deal for both teams. The Astros sent 1B Alec Bohm and RHP Jacob Hilton to the Yankees for RHP Albert Abreu. It's a weird deal, but I guess the Yankees side is better. November 10th, 2023: I officially signed HC Carlos Rivera to join the staff. Novmeber 11th, 2023: Yasukazu Shiotani came in third place for Reliever of the Year, although it was unanimous for CL Michael Feliz of the Cubs. The AL Winner was CL Chad Scholes of the A's, who if you remember, was one of the few players I liked back in 2019, but didn't want to use my #2 pick on. He ended up going 9th, and is a 5* who's been excellent in his first three big league seasons. Novmeber 12th, 2023: Thomas Dillard won Platinum Stick for Catchers. It's his first of his career in his 2nd big league season. November 13th, 2023: 1B's Andy Bostic of the Mariners and our very own Seth Beer won Rookie of the Year. Beer was a unanimous winner, and Cole Roederer finished in third. Three trades were made as well, starting with the Nationals sending RF Estevan Florial and SS Joe Kelly to the Red Sox for LHP Jay Groome. It's a pretty even deal, and yes, this is a different Joe Kelly that doesn't think he's going to win Cy Young. Texas swapped 1B Jake Burger and CF Charbel Hadad to the Orioles for RHP Chance Adams. Baltimore won this trade for sure, although SP is very valuable. THe White Sox traded RF Luis Gonzalez to the Tigers for RHP Matt Manning. It's a pretty even deal, although I like Manning a tad bit better. November 14th, 2023: Athletics Manager Trace Coquillette and Padres Manager Dave Martinez won Manager of the Year. November 15th, 2023: Rays ace Jacob Faria and Cubs ace Jorge Flores won Cy Young. Walker Buehler finished in 5th Place. November 16th, 2023: Rays 1B Matt Wallner and Dodgers 1B Cody Bellinger won MVP in the year of 1B. Thomas Dillard finished in 4th with Buehler (2) and Beer (1) at the bottom. November 24th, 2023: Jameson Taillon, Jose Ramirez, and Joe Jimenez all declined qualifying offers and will file for free agency. I could possibly have 3 supplemental picks as well as 2 first rounders in a draft that can invigorate my system. Free Agency starts tomorrow! |

Free Agency Pt. 1
November 25th, 2023: Today marks the start of Free Agency, and here are who OSA considers the top players on the market:
LF Michael Conforto CF Brett Phillips 1B Cody Bellilnger 3B Jose Ramirez 2B Tyler Wade SP Tyler Mahle 1B Matt Olson LF Derek Fisher 2B Jose Altuve LF Yoan Moncada While unlikely, I actually could sign one of the Top 10 guys. It won't be Bellinger, who is demanding $68 million per year, but I doubt that'll happen. Moncada is a 2* that wants over $30 million per year so either my scout or him is dellusional. I'm guessing him... There really aren't too many interesting free agents, and all the ones that are good (3.5 and up) are either relievers or want way too much money. November 30th, 2023: The Red Sox traded 1B Michael Chavis and cash to the Royals for 1B Nick Pratto. This deal is a steal for the Red Sox. December 3rd, 2023: The Tigers got Bellinger to settle for far less then he wanted, and quickly scooped up the 3-Time MVP to a 7-year, $202,000,000 contract. He has an opt out after three years and instantly makes the Tigers playoff contendors. I also casted my Hall of Fame ballot today. For some reason Miguel Montero was an option... I voted for: CF Carlos Beltran 1B Jason Giambi LF Matt Holliday C Victor Martinez CL Frnacisco Rodriguez SS Jimmy Rollins SP C.C. Sabathia RF Gary Sheffield RF Ichiro Suzuki CL Billy Wagner December 6th, 2023: The Reds inked CF Brett Phillips to a 5-year, $147,000,000 contract with an opt-out after year 2. The former Brewer carries a .264/.339/.520 career line with 192 homers and 540 RBI's. I decided to make a deal with the devil: I acquired 26-year-old SP Mike Soroka from the Braves for five minor leaguers. Headed to Atlanta are CF Christian Franklin, RHP Whip Mifflen, RHP Mike Seals, RHP Ken Hart, and 2B Juan Valenzuela. According to my scout, the only not 0.5* are Fraknlin (2/3.5) who I didn't want to add to the 40-man roster and Juan Valenzuela (0.5/2). OSA loves Seals, but we both have him as a bullpen/emergency starter so I'm willing to risk it. Soroka has an affordable contract that has him under control until 2026. The Canadian has elite control and excellent stamina. For his career, he's 56-49 with a 3.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP, coming off an excellent season where he was 15-9 with a 3.12 ERA, league leading 0.99 WHIP and 165 strikeouts with just 29 walks in 193.1 innings. December 8th, 2023: The Rays acquired former Marlins SS Andrelton Simmons and 1B Joe Medina from the Dodgers for LF Jake Bauers. I like this deal for the Dodgers. December 9th, 2023: The Rangers made a big splash, signing LF Michael Conforto to a 6-year, $26,000,000 per year contract, the final year a team option. He was a Met for 2015-2023 and hit .256/.357/.490 with 236 HR's and 675 RBI's in 1,160 games. December 10th, 2023: Arizona signed Jameson Taillon to a 5-year, $83,600,000 contract with the last year a player option. Between us and the Pirates, he was 64-70 with a 3.88 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 946 strikeouts and 331 walks in 1,239 innings. We are rewarded with a supplemental pick. I signed C Austin Hedges to a 1-year, $2,000,000 contract for a variety of reasons. I needed a back up catcher, he's rated 100 at the position, and is a team leader. If I choose to move Puckett, which I may not, I needed a backup captain. The Royals signed former Marlin SP Tyler Mahle to a 2-year, $13,400,000 per year deal. He started 13 games in New York and pitched great, 4-4 with a 3.14 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. December 11th, 2023: The Astros extended CL Ken Giles to a 3-year, $18,00,000 per year contract. Now 33, he has 249 career saves to go with a 2.66 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. He's struck out 844 hitters in 568.1 innings with Philly and the Stros. December 12th, 2023: The Winter Meetings start today, so I decided to get my 40-man roster ready during this period. It was a transaction filled day, starting with SS Didi Gregorious' return to the Red Sox. He inked a 3-year, $19 million per year contract. In his career, he's hit .283/.323/.465 with 234 homers and 824 RBI's with Cincy, Arizona, the Yankees, and Bo Sox. Dylan Bundy signed a deal with the Cubs that'll pay $9,600,000 this year, and that same sum next year if he reaches 180 innings. With his injury history and the fact he's never pitched more then 169.2 innings, I doubt he'll reach 180. The Red Sox also signed CL Chad Green to a 3-year, $37,800,000 contract. After a year with the Braves in which he saved 33 games with a 1.81 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, he will join Boston to setup Craig Kimbrel. Lastly, the Pirates traded RHP Christoper A. Reynolds to the Royals for 3B Emmanuel Rivera. I don't have any idea what the Pirates were thinking here. December 13th, 2023: The Brewers signed Jose Ramirez to a 4-year, $21 million per year deal with a player option in year 4. The switch hitter hit .276/.338/.505 with us last year with 25 homers and 92 RBI's. We'd notch another compensation pick for his signing. I placed former 2nd Rounder Jaheim Meggett on the 40-man roster, raising the total to 39. Almost 23, he's a 3* potential with a ton of stamina and a plus-plus changeup that can baffle even the best of major league hitters. I traded SS Jeremiah Jackson to the Cardinals for SP Joe Bernal. I was afraid of losing Jackson in the Rule-5 draft, so I acquired the former 3rd rounder form 2022. He's rated a 3.5 potential with a devestating change up and overall plus stuff. He's a bit old, almost 25, but has very little professional experience. December 14th, 2023: The Indians extended Cody Allen 3 more years, $9.5 million guaranteed the first two years, and the same sum for 2027 if he finishes 40 games. The longtime Indian reliever has pitched 778.1 innings out of that pen, with 1,060 strikeouts, 199 saves, a 2.80 ERA, and a 1.14 WHIP. The Mets traded C Patrick Mazeika to the Rangers for LF Zach Watson. This is just a trade of mediocre players. December 19th, 2023: I made a trade with my buddy Jerry Dipoto in Seattle, sending All-Star Edward Cabrera to them for RP Alpha Quivers. Quivers, a 24-year-old lefty, is coming off a rough season, but he's filled to the brim with potential. Rated a 3/5, his stuff is absolutely deadly and his fastball is a perfect 100 that he can throw 100 mph to pair with a devestating splitter he's workingon perfecting. With the acquisition of Quivers, I'm looking to use him to replace James Pazos. December 21st, 2023: The Blue Jays signed LF Derek Fisher to a very interesting contract. He'll make $33 million this year, before having an opportunity to opt out. If he choses not to, he'll play for $33 million the next two seasons, and then a player option for that same sum in 2027. In his career with the Astros, he hit .272/.375/.491 with 188 homers and 602 RBI's in 988 games. December 22nd, 2023: After a season with Toronto, C Gary Sanchez is now a Angel. He'll make $16.4 million this year, before an opt-out clause, and then three more seasons of $16.4 million. He hit .217/.287/.418 with Toronto, a significan down year from his normal production. December 23rd, 2023: The Mets bolstered the lineup by signign 3B Jake Lamb to a 5-year, $16 million per year deal with the final season a 550 PA vesting option. The long-time Diamondback is a career .237/.321/.449 hitter with 249 homers and 784 RBI's. The Royals signed star 2B Tyler Warde to a huge 7-year, $209,500,000 contract, with the last a team option of $28,000,000. A Yankee since 2017, he's a career .274/.359/.409 with 72 homers, 303 RBI's, and 83 steals. December 24th, 2023: Today is the Rule-5 Draft, where I look to grab a fourth quality player in the fourth straight season. I lost Joe Pressini instantly to the Yankkes. I considered shopping him, but since he was just a minor league signing last offseason I didn't think I'd lose him. There really wasn't anyone worth drafting, so I skipped my pick. I was hoping the Phillies would leave Tyler Callihan unprotected, but he's on the 40-man roster now and should be approaching his debut. He looks like a stud now, and I really miss him. I ended up losing SS Luis Verdugo in the 2nd Round to the Astros as well. I tried shopping him, but got no interesting offers in return. Neither loss will hurt me, however, so I can't really complain. Decemeber 25th, 2023: The Yankees signed former Marlin Koda Glover to a 3-year, $24,300,000 contract. Between Washington and Miami, he's got 40 career saves, a 3.84 ERA, and a 1.23 WHIP. Arizona signed RF Austin Hays to a 3-year, $26,000,000 contract. Spending the past 7 seasons with Baltimore, he's a career .273/.314/.470 hitter. Aroldis Chapman signed a 3-year, $20,000,000 per year deal with the Twins. The final year is a vesting option that needes 40 games finished. The 35-year-old lefty has 343 career saves, a 2.78 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 1,296 strikeouts in 792.2 innings. December 26th, 2023: The Red Sox signed RP Jimmie Sherfy to a 2-year, $6,850,000 per year contract. He's spend his whole career up to this point with Arizona, and tallied 435 strikeouts in 335.2 innings. I made a big splash, signing Cuban Free Agent 26-year-old RHP Jorge Moya to a 4-year, $8.5 million per year contract. The youngster is rated a 4.5/5 as a reliver and has insane stuff, a 90 rated fastball and 100 raded slider. He has excellent control and can pitch a lot of innings in the pen. Him, Shiotani, and Popkin will made a scary back of the pen. I think I'm done for the most part this offseason, although who knows what will come up. December 27th, 2023: As if they needed any help, the Padres signed slugging 1B Matt Olson to a 6-year, $22,600,000 per year contract, with the final year a player option. He's slugged 267 homers and 682 RBI's in 1,027 games with the A's. That lineup is just unfair... December 29th, 2023: Joe Jimenez inked a 3-year, $47,700,000 contract to be the Yankees closer. Between Miami and Detroit, our former 8th inning guy has 89 saves and a 3.73 ERA in 388.1 innings with a 1.33 WHIp and 417 strikeouts. I get another compensation pick for his signing. I also now own the 24th, 27th, 35th, 37th, and 38th pick, although for some reason no one has the 25th or 26th pick, so I'm hoping it's not a glitch. Just to be safe, I exported the draft file. December 31st, 2023: I claimed defensive superstar 2B Chris Dito off waivers from the Nationals. A former 2nd rounder in 2020, he's amazing with the glove, but his bat is still lagging behind. He was sent to AA Jacksonville. We'll pick this up in 2024! |

Free Agency Pt. 2
January 1st, 2024: Happy 2024! Could this be the year?!?!
I claimed Sergio Palofox off waviers from the Dodgers and sent him to the GCL. Just 19, he's a 3* potential with great power, arm strength, and a double play turner. January 5th, 2024: The Tigers signed Trevor Rosenthal to a 3-year, $14.2 million per year contract. Coming off a decent year with the Mets, the flamethrower is set to be the new 8th inning guy. January 9th, 2024: The Rangers signed 2B Jose Altuve to a 5-year, $23.2 million per year deal, the final year a vesting option requiring 135 games. The longtime Astro his a career .311/.361/.464 with 206 homers and 889 RBI's from 2011-2023. January 12th, 2024: The Blue Jays have signed C Carson Kelly to a 3-year, $7.7 million per year contract. The former Cardinal is a career .245/.322/.385 hitter with 66 homers and 310 RBI's. January 13th, 2024: The Red Sox signed former Phillie Rhys Hoskins to a 5-year, $17.6 million per year contract. The slugger has 3 50+ homer seasons and has driven in 100 or more runs the past 5 years. It's nice seeing him leave the division, that's for sure. January 14th, 2024: I traded LHP James Pazos to the Cardinals for RHP Kenyon Yovan. Yovan, 26, is a former 10th overall pick from 2019, and has 13.2 big league innings under his belt. He's got a 4.61 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 16 strikeouts. January 17th, 2024: No player was inducted to the Hall of Fame, which doesn't make sense since Ichiro was on the ballot. Carlos Beltran got 74%, Ichiro 70.6%, and C.C. Sabathia 54.7%. Gary Sheffield (37.8%) was dropped since it was his 10th year. Somehow Miguel fricken Montero got 0.3% of the vote, more then Huston Street, Jayson Werth, Brandon Phillis, and Fernandeo Rodney. January 21st, 2024: The White Sox signed 2B Brian Dozier to a 1-year, $8,200,000 contract. The three time All-Star has a career .249/.335/.460 line with 295 homers and 867 RBI's with Minnesota, Toronto, and Tampa. January 24th, 2024: The Astros replaced Jose Altuve with Yoan Moncada, signing him to a 4-year, $84,400,000 contract. The centerpiece of the Chris Sale deal, Moncada is a career .261/.346/.453 with 158 homers, 443 RBI's, and 90 steals in 948 games. January 27th, 2024: I claimed C Bryant Bowen off waivers from Toronto and sent him to AAA. The former 12th overall pick is a career .256/.352/.426 hitter in the minors, and a decent 1.5/2 rated signal caller. January 28th, 2024: The Rangers signed Wandy Peralta to a 3-year, $12.6 million per year contract. He spent last year in Atlanta, a bit of the down year for him, but still got the contract he was looking for. |

Preseason
January 30th, 2024: Nate Blind has never played a big league game, but he signed a 3-year, $12,520,000 contract with the Angels. The former 2nd Rounder was a minor league free agent, but rates as a 2.5/3, so it's nod a bad deal per say.
A few rule changes of note: I increased the roster limit of AAA, AA, A+, and A to reduce the strain on minor league players. January 31st, 2024: Well here's an interesting storyline, Padres lefty Adrian Morejon's age has come in to question. Rumors have iet that Morejon is not actually the 24 he claims to be. In his career, he's 14-9 with a 4.57 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. February 6th, 2024: I traded RHP Shane Smith to the Mets for RHP Coy Cobb. Cobb, 24, is rated a 0.5/2 as a SP and 1.5/3 as a CL, the position the Mets had him in the minors. The former 20th rounder has a great fastball and solid control, and can be a decent pen arm. February 7th, 2024: Supposedly a controversial DNA test has hinted that Adrian Morrejon is in fact older then he says, however this is not official. This will be a interesting story to follow. February 11th, 2024: The Pirates have signed RF Justin Williams to a 3-year, $14,320,000 contract. The former Ray is a career .299/.345/.492 line with 114 homers and 417 RBI's. February 15th, 2024: A pair of relievers are off the market. Toronto signed Arodys Vizcaino to a 1-year, $3,960,000 contract and the Red Sox signed Tommy Kahnle to a 3-year, $10,760,000 contract. February 20th, 2024: I traded out of options RHP Nick Neidert and C Jonathan Carillo to the Royals for SS Devonte Brown, SP Marc Bjork, and 2B Tristan Hanoian. And yes, that's the Carillo I took in the first round a few rounds back that I really didn't want to take, and my new scout isn't fond of him. First up, is SS Devonte Brown, who is a great defensive shortstop and second basemen that I'm trying out at third. He's got an elite arm, solid speed, and a decent bat. The former 3rd rounder from 2021 is a 1.5/3.5. Next is 23-year-old righty Marc Bjork. He's got a knee buckling curveball, a plus plus slider, and a plus splitter. He's still working on his control, but he does a good job of keeping the ball on the ground. The former 8th Rounder in 2020 is rated a 1.5/3. Lastly, 24-year-old 2B Tristan Hanoian who is an elite defensive second basemen that is a great shortstop and I will also try him at third. His arm isn't as good as Brown's, but it's still great. He's a great base stealer and makes good contact. The former 2nd Rounder is rated a 3* potential. February 27th, 2024: I traded SP Tylor McGill and SP A.J. Block to the Cardinals for SP Mason Barnett, SP Slade Cecconi, and 1B Ashton McGee. Cecconi, 24, is the prize of the haul, a 3/3.5 SP from Winter Park, Florida. The former 2nd rounder has two plus-plus pitches, a fastball and slider, and two solid pitches. His fastball can reach 100, and is control is impeccable. He's not quite ready for the rotation, but he'll be in line to replace A.J. Puckett if needed. In 73 games (34 starts) with the Cards, he's 10-16 with a save, 4.72 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 136 strikeouts in 164 innings. Barnett, 23, is a nother solid starting pitcher prospects with an amazing curveball and overpowering fastball, as well as a nice change he can turn to. Another guy with great control, the former 7th rounder is rated a 1.5/3. McGee, 25, is a great hitter who's a solid defender at first base. He's not a throw in, but he's not a star in the making. Rated a 2/2.5, the lefty was a 4th Round pick back in 2019. He's a nice lefty bat that can play a little third base as well. Spring Training is right around the corner! |

Spring Training
As usual, I won't do a game-by-game recap of the spring, but I will announce any noteworthy stories that occur.
February 29th, 2024: Today marks the start of the Spring, so I called up a handful of non-roster invitees. March 1st, 2024: The Red Sox signed RHP Phila Maton to a 1-year, $3,080,000 contract. He spent last year with us and Chicago, wortkina 3.02 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 62.2 innings with 76 strikeouts and 28 walks. They also signed RHP Ryan Tepara to a 1-year, $3,000,000 contract. He spent last year with the Rangers, and was 5-1 with a 3.16 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. March 8th, 2024: The Royals traded LF Oscar Rohjas to the Orioles for SS Juan Blancas and RHP Tyler Hanson. It's an intriguing deal for both teams. March 15th, 2024: The Astros will be without RHP Corbin Martin for the year after he tore his flexor tendon. The former 2nd Rounder back in 2017 is a career 6-10 with a 3.94 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 191.2 innings with the Astros. March 16th, 2024: Tampa lost RHP Francisco Rios for the year with a partially torn UCL. Last season was a rough one for him, his first with the Rays, as he was 3-8 with a 5.73 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 52 games (4 starts). March 17th, 2024: The Twins lost Michael Pineda for the year with a torn rotator cuff. He's always dealt with injuries, and missed all of 2023 with a torn UCL he suffered in September of 2022. March 19th, 2024: I traded Corbin Burnes to the Tigers for CL Marco Jimenez. Jimenez, a 24-year-old from the Domincan Republic is rated a 1.5/3.5, and spent 2022 with the Tigers, going 4-5 with a 3.51 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. He doesn't have to be added to the 40-man roster since he currently has a minor league deal. Thomas Dillard is headed to the DL for 3 weeks with a bone bruise in his wrist. It's not a major injury, but our star catcher will not be back for Opening Day. Austin Hedges and Nick Fieght will get time behind the plate for the start of the year. March 21st, 2024: Tampa will be without RHP Jose Almonte for the year with a partially torn unlar collateral ligament. Last year was his first in Tampa, and hes tossed 12.1 innings in 9 pen appearences, striking out 14 and walking 3. March 27th, 2024: The Braves signed LHP Brad Hnd to a 1-year, $2,840,000 contract. The lefty had a bit of a down year in Toronto last season, but owns a career 3.87 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 74 saves. March 28th, 2024: The Hand signing looks crucial now, as the Braves lost CL A.J. Minter for the year with a torn UCL. He's had his share of injury concnerns, logging under 70 innings total from 2019-2023, after 70.1 in 2018. Arizona also lost RP Yency Almonte for the year with a damaged elbow ligament. After being a productive starter in 2021, he's split time between the pen and rotation with subpar results, recording ERA's of 5.92 and 6.60. March 30th, 2024: The Rays can't catch a break, losing RHP Adrian Navas for 13 months with a torn UCL. In his career that spans parts of four seasons, he's worked a 2.85 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 120 strikeouts in 110.1 innings. March 31st, 2024: The White Sox will be without SP Hector Antonio Perez for over a year with a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He hasn't had much big league success in 33 games (30 starts), going 6-10 with a 6.08 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. The Mets took a bigger blow, losing star pitcher Brady Singer for the year with a torn labrum. The former 6th Overall Pick in 2018 is a career 30-17 with a 3.42 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 408 innings. He's struck out 379, including 201 last year in a dominate season where he finished 2nd in Cy Young voting. April 3rd, 2024: With Opening Day tomorrow, I finalized my Opening Day roster, which looks like the best one I've had ever. SP Walker Buehler (4/4) SP Jake Florence (3.5/4.5) SP Jordan Montgomery (3.5/3.5) SP A.J. Puckett (2.5/2.5) SP Mike Soroka (3.5/3.5) RP Ernesto Estrella (3/3.5) RP Luiz Gohara (3/3) RP Tyler Jay (2.5/2.5) RP Ben Popkin (3.5/5) RP Max Povse (2.5/2.5) RP Alpha Quivers (3/4.5) RP Yasukazu Shiotani (4/4) CL Jorge Moya (5/5) C Nick Feight (2/2) C Austin Hedgers (2/2) 1B Seth Beer (4/4) 1B Ryan Mountcastle (2.5/3) 2B Scott Kingery (3/3) 2B Brendan Rodgers (4/4) 3B Blake Tiberi (3/3) SS Nick Gordon (3.5/3.5) LF Lewis Brinson (3/3) LF Adam Haseley (3.5/3.5) CF Mickey Moniak (4/4) RF Shoehi Ohtani (4/4) Don't forget, I also have C Thomas Dillard (5/5) who will be back in a week. There really aren't any weaknesses on this team except maybe my fifth starter, although I have a pair of 3/3.5 guys ready in AAA if needed. Same with third, where Nolan Gorman (3/4) can be called upon if Tiberi struggles. Of course, the bullpen can always be upgraded, and I actually have optionable guys so I don't have to worry too much. Also, our Spring record was 16-12, so we actually preformed pretty well, but as many know, Spring record's aren't too important. I'm excited for this year, and I think the NL is ours! |

2018 MLB Draft Day 1
I'll have this post to keep track of all Marlins players I either drafted or have had, or the real life Marlins selected early, that have been drafted in the real life draft. I'm lumping the 1st round and first set of compensation picks together, as well as the 2nd round and second set of compensation picks together.
Miami: 1st Round, 13th Overall: SP Connor Scott: Was selected by Tampa in the 17th Round and he retired in 2022 after 56 minor league innings. Hopefully for the real Marlins, he has more success. St. Louis: 1st Round, 19th Overall: SS Nolan Gorman: Was selected right after Seth Beer by Baltimore, and then I acquired him from them. Houston: 1st Round, 28th Overall: 1B Seth Beer: In this universe, the Pirates selected him in the 3rd Round, 92nd Overall. Cleveland: 1st Round, 35th Overall: SP Ethan Hankins: I selected him 12th Overall, but he decided not to sign... Instead, he was a 3rd Rounder by Cleveland in 2021, and I added him on a minor league deal. Pittsburgh: 1st Round, 36th Overall: SP Gunnar Hoglund: I selected him in the 13th Round . Baltimore: 1st Round, 37th Overall: SS Cadyn Grenier: I acquired him from the Royals, and traded him to the Brewers in the Corbin Burnes deal. The Royals took him in the 2nd Round. San Diego: 1st Round, 38th Overall: SS Xavier Edwards: The Padres selected him the 5th Round, and he became one of the top middle infielders in the league. St. Louis: 1st Round, 43rd Overall: SP Griffin Roberts: I acquired him from the Mariners. The Cubs took him in the 16th Round. Miami: 2nd Rounder, 53rd Overall: SS Osiris Johnson: The Orioles took him 11th Overall. He's turned into a solid defensive shortstop. Seattle: 2nd Rounder, 54th Overall: CF Josh Stowers: I acquired him from the Cubs, and lost him to Toronto in the Rule-5 Draft. Angels: 2nd Round, 57th Overall: SS Jeremiah Jackson: I claimed him off waivers from the Dodgers who selected him in the 9th Round. I traded him in the offseason to St. Louis Nationals: 2nd Round, 65th Overall: SP Tim Cate: I acquired him from Seattle who selected him in the 3rd Round. Miami: 2nd Round, 69th Overall: C Will Banfield: The Pirates took him in the 5th Round. He made his debut last year, and is an excellent defensive catcher. Athletics: 2nd Round, 70th Overall: SS Jeremy Eierman: I acquired him from the Dodgers and sent him to the Royals in the Jace Vines deal. LA selected him 30th Overall. Cardinals: 2nd Round, 75th Overall: 1B Luken Baker: The Phillies selected him in the 5th round, and I claimed him off waivers from Milwaukee, then traded him to the Dodgers later. Colorado: 2nd Round, 76th Overall: SP Mitchell Kilkenny: I signed him as a minor league free agent, and he was selected by the Padres in the 34th Round. Cubs: 2nd Round, 77th Overall: LF Cole Roederer: I selected him int the Rule-5 Draft from the Rays, who selected him in the 8th round. Last edited by ayaghmour2; 06-05-2018 at 08:34 PM. |

April 4th-April 11th
Real-life side-note: With work, my posting schedule will change a little. I won't be able to post in the morning days I work, but I'll try to still get two posts in, one when I get home and another later at night.
April 4th, 2024: Happy Opening Day! Baseball is back, although we'll have to wait 1 more day for Marlins baseball, as we host the Giants tomorrow. The preseason predictions are out, and they don't like us very much, a projected 84-78 record, good for 4th place and 4 out of first. We're [redicted the best ERA, 2nd most strikeouts, and least runs against. Mike Soroka is projected to be one of the top pitchers. I wouldn't take these seriously, as they have the Padres 79-83. The top 100 prospect list was announced, with LF Mike Verbeck of the Orioles ranked #1. The former 2nd Overall pick known as "Blueprint" os a 4.5/5* who is amazing at just about everything. He's hitting 4th in the bigs behind superstar Benni Vogl to give the Orioles the best young outfield pairing quite possible ever. We have a top 10 guy sof our own, SS Rogelio Maldnoado, who ranks 7th. I signed the 17-year-old Dominican in last year's IFA period for $4,480,000. Our system ranks 10th, in part to him and LF Juan Ramirez (20). Other notables include SP Joe Bernal (108), SP Josh Weske (121), and 2B Reizo Honda (176). The Twins signed former Marlin Brad Brach to a 1-year, $4,000,000 contract. Noe 37, he's got 880.2 innings under his bealt with 1,012 strikeouts and 391 walks. The Red Sox added another arm, RHP Nick Goody to a 1-year, $4,680,000 contract. The Orlando Native has a career 4.22 REA and 1.21 WHIP in 494.1 career innings. Tomorrow starts our quest for the World Series, as we'll welcome the Giants to beautiful Marlins Park. The projected starters are Madison Bumgarner, Carter Raffield, and Zack Littell. April 5th, 2024: Baseball is back, and the Miami Marlins host the San Francisco Giants in a sold out Marlins Park! Just like last year, Walker Buehler toes the rubber in the opener, against the veteran left hander Madison Bumgarner. Our lineup is CF Moniak, LF Brinson, 1B Beer, RF Ohtani, 2B Rodgers, 3B Tiberi, C Feight, SS Gordon, P Buehler. Sadly, the result was not as anticipated, and we dropped the opener 5-2. Buehler had a rough outing, 2.2 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella allowed 1 in 2 with 2 hits, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Reigning Rookie of the Year Seth Beer started his season off right, 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-4. The Astros returned SS Luis Verdugo, so I outrighted him to AA. April 6th, 2024: I made a nice waiver claim, adding 2B Deshawn Hardamon from Oakland. The former 18th overall pick by the Angels in 2020, the slugger is rated a 1.5/5 and can play all over the diamond. To make room for him, I optioned 1B Ryan Mountcastle to AAA, where I will give him reps in the outfield. Back to Hardamon, he's got insane potential with his bats, with his caps at 74-73-83-57-72 and with enough paitience, he can develop into a future star. The Red Sox keep bolstering the pen, signing RHP Corey Knebel to a 1-year, $12.2 million contract. He won't be used as the closer, but Knebel has 170 career saves, including 39 back in 2017 where he worked a 1.78 ERA. April 7th, 2024: We looked to even our record with Jordan Montgomery facing Carter Raffield. Today was much better, as we shut the visitors out 9-0 for our first of many wins in 2024. Montgomery tossed 6.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Max Povse pitched the last 2.2, with just 2 hits, and 4 strikeouts. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. He was replaced by Hardamon, who hit a homer in his big league debut. Seth Beer went 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and double. Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with a base clearing double. Austin Hedges was 1-for-4 with a run scored and 2 driven in during his Marlins debut. Brewers SS Orlando Arcia went 5-for-5 in a 6-3 win over the Reds. Former Marlin and now Rockie 2B Vidal Brujan was 5-for-6 against the Padres in a 9-8 win. April 8th, 2024: The first set of the Power Rankings has us in 11th. We looked to win the opening series with Mike Soroka set to make his Marlins debut against Zack Littell. After a rough start, Soroka settled down and we won the finale 4-3. Soroka finished 6 innings, with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Ben Poplin and Alpha Quivers earned holds before Jorge Moya recorded his first big league save. Popkin, however, left with injury, and his diagnosis is still pending. Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and RBI. Adam Haseley was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a run scored, driven in, and a steal. This was also my 500th Career Win! Believe it or not, my career record is actually over .500, and I sit at 500-476 with three playoff appearences in six seasons, as I work on year seven. We're tied with the Nats and Mets for first at 2-1, and they happen to be our next opponents. The Nationals are coming to count for three, as we'll likely face Cole Ragans, Jacob deGrom, and Sonny Warner (0-0, 4.50 ERA). April 9th, 2024: I optioned Nick Fieght to AAA, and activated Thomas Dillard from the DL. He'd hit third as Jake Florence took on Cole Ragans to open the series with Washington. A strong pitching performance lead to a 4-1 win as we improved our record to 3-1. Florence was as good as he could be, 7 innings with 2 hits, an unearned run, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Quivers got a hold and Moya the save. Dillard was 2-for-4 with a double in his return, but committed an error. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 as well. Blake Tiberi was 1-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a steal. April 10th, 2024: We looked to win the series a day early with A.J. Puckett taking on Jacob deGrom. This is deGrom's first year out of New York, and spent the 2014-2023 seasons with them. We stayed hot, and took this won 6-2 to win our 2nd straight series. Puck tossed 6 shutout innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Estrella allowed 1 run in 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. Moya earned his 3rd save, striking out two in the 9th. Scott Kingery was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Thomas Dillard was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. Blake Tiberi was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a double. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a steal. April 11th, 2024: We looked to finish the sweep with Walker Buehler (0-1, 10.13 ERA, 1.88 WHIP) taking on Sonny Warner (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). We couldn't score, and dropped the finale 2-1. Buehler pitched fine, 6.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Not great, but much better then his first start of the season. We only had 4 hits. Brendan Rodgers lead the way with an RBI double in four at bats. Thomas Dillard was 0-for-2, but walked and was hit by a pitch, and scored the only run of the game. Like usual, we struggled against Warner, who at least now is a 4/4.5 as opposed to the 2.5* that always seemed to best us. We're a game out of first, trailing the 5-1 Mets by a game. We'll head to the Big Apple to take them on, and look to reclaim first. We'll see Luis Marrero (1-0, 1.50 ERA), Michael Wacha (1-0, 6.14 ERA), and Chris Sale (1-0, 3.38 ERA). |

Draft Day 2
Here are a few more notable guys selected in real life who have been mentioned in this universe.
Marlins: 3rd Round, 89th Overall: CF Tristan Pompey: The Yankees selected him in the 3rd Round, an eventually I signed him to a minor league deal. Mets: 8th Round, 230th Overall: SP Tylor Megill He went undrafted, and then selected i the 5th Round in 2019 by the Yankees. I acquired him from them in 2022, he made a few starts for me, and then was traded to St. Louis. Phillies: 9th Round, 257th Overall: SP Dominic Pipken: I selected him in the 27th Round, but he didn't sign. He was re-drafted in 2021 in the 4th Round with San Diego and is still with them. Not too many guys of mine were taken today, but there are a ton eligible tomorrow, including top ranked guys like SP Slade Ceccioni (63), SP Garrett McDaniels (96), SP/1B J.P. Gates (165), and CF Max Marusak (187). |

April 12th-April 18th
April 12th, 2024: Ben Popkin has been diagnosed with a rotator cuff strain and will head to the DL for about 7 weeks. I purchased the contract of 23-year-old Mason Barnett, who I acquired in the offseason from the Cardinals. He's got a future as a starter, but is currently rated a 3/3.5 as a reliever.
The Dodgers signed RHP Dellin Betances to a 1-year, $8.7 million contract. After a year in San Diego where he posted a 1.90 ERA and 1.30 WHIP,he didn't get quite the deal he expected. Since 2014, he's struck out 100 or more batters every year except 2021. We opeend the first road series of the year in Citi Field, with Jordan Montgomery (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.47 WHIP) taking on Luis Marrero (1-0, 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). The game was tied heading into the 9th, but former Met Blake Tiberi took CL Drew Smith deep for a solo shot to give us a 4-3 lead we'd keep. Montgomery had a shaky start, 4.1 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers earned the win, going 1.1 innings with 3 strikeouts. Tiberi was the hero of the game, 2-for-4 with the solo shot and an RBI triple. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Down in Greensboro, RF Saverio Viccio was 5-for-5 in a 16-7 win over the West Virginia Power. April 13th, 2024: We looked to take sole possesion of first place, with Mike Soroka (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) taking on Michael Wacha (1-0, 6.14 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). It was a rough outing for Soroka, as the Mets took first back with a 10-3 win. Soroka allowed 6 runs in 3.2 innings with 7 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Mason Barnett made his big league debut, 1.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. Ernesto Estrella also allowed 2 runs in 2 innings off a hit and walk. Seth Beer wwas 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a double. He was pinch hit for by Deshawn Hardamon, who hit an RBI double. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a run scored. April 15th, 2024: We looked for the series win with Jake Florence (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.86 WHIP) taking on Chris Sale (1-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WIP). As the better team, we should win this series, but it is the road. And since it's the road, we dropped the finale 5-4. Florence allowed all 5 in just 2.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The rest of the pen combined for 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 with a walk. Thomas Dillard had a pinch hit 2 run single. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Tomorrow was our first day off, before we would continue our road trip. April 15th, 2024: We are 14th in the Power Rankings, with the Mets #1. We head to Detroit for three, and will get the benefit of the DH. We'd face Miguel Angel Lastra (0-1, 8.10 ERA), Michael Fulmer (2-0, 3.48 ERA), and Jamie Barria (0-1, 1.69 ERA). April 16th, 2024: Walker Buehler (0-2, 4.82 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) opened the series against Miguel Angel Lastra (0-1, 8.10 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) and the 4-4 Tigers. They got 6 in the 2nd and knocked us out 9-6. Buehler had an awful start, 7 runs in 2.1 innings, but with just 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Mac Povse and Ernesto Estrella both allowed a run in 0.1 innings. Tyler Jay and Yasukazu Shiotani both tossed 2 shutout innings. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a double, homer, 2 runs scored, and 2 driven in. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with a double, run scored, RBI, 2 walks, and a hit by pitch that was likely retaliation for Cody Bellinger getting hit and leaving with injury. Blake Tiberi was 1-for-4 with a double, RBI, and run scored. April 17th, 2024: We needed to get back on track, with A.J. Puckett (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP) taking on Michael Fulmer (2-0, 3.48 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). It was a tough one, but we took the middle game 7-4. Puckett allowed 10 hits in 5 innings, but just 3 runs and he struck out 2 as well. Estrella, Luiz Gohara, and Quiveres earned holds, while Jorge Moya earned the save. Quivers allowed 2 hits and a run with a strike out in 0.2 innings. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored, a hit by pitch, and a solo homer. Brendan Rodgers was 3-for-4 with a three run homer and a steal. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a run scored and hit by pitch, so I think the Tigers were gunning for us. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, run scored, and 2 RBI's. April 18th, 2024: We looked to take the road series with Jordan Montgomery (1-0, 2.53 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) taking on Jaime Barria (0-1, 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP). Deshawn Hardamon made his first career start today, hitting 9th and DH'ing. It was a beautiful way to end the series, a nice 3-0 shutout. Monty was brilliant, tossing a 6-hit shutout with a walk and 5 strikeouts to lower his season ERA to 1.37. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-3 with a two run homer and was also hit by a pitch. Hardamon was 1-for-4 i nhis first career start. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a walk. Our road trip will finish in LA for four with the Dodgers. At 7-5, we're 2 games out of first, and in possession of the 2nd Wild Card. We'd see Song-shi Su (1-1, 10.80 ERA), C.J. Jorgensen (0-1, 16.50 ERA), Dennis Santana (1-0, 4.50 ERA), and Robinson Ortiz (0-1, 3.38 ERA). |

April 19th-April 25th
April 19th, 2024: The A's will be without RHP David Paulino for a calender year with a torn flexor tendon. The 30-year-old had a rough start to his year, 7 innings with a 10.29 ERA and 9 strikeouts.
A pair of struggling starters in Mike Soroka (1-1, 8.38 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) and Song-shil Su (1-1, 10.80 ERA, 1.80 WHIP) battled it out in the series opener. We tossed back-to-back shutouts with a 6-0 win. I thought Montgomery's start would be the best of the year, but Soroka instantly topped him, a 3-hit shutout with 4 strikeouts in a dominant start. It's about time he had a good start. Blake Tiberi has been a pleasent surprise to start the year, 3-for-4 with a pair of solo shots. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with a three run homer. Adam Haseley was 2-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Seth Beer struck out three times, but was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. April 20th, 2024: We looked to stay hot, with Jake Florence (1-1, 4.66 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) looking to out duel C.J. Jorgensen (0-1, 16.50 ERA, 2.33 WHIP). It was a tight one, but the Dodgers edged us 2-1. Florence allowed 2 off 4 hits in 6.1 innings with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiotani tossed 1.2 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts. He's been near perfect in a non-closer role. Age has gotten to him, as he's dropped a lot with his ratings, but he's still a quality pen guy. We didn't hit much, but Adam Haseley did his part. He was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a walk. April 21st, 2024: Former 1st Rounder Amari Ifill is out for the year with a ruprture UCL. The Red Sox righty was used out of the pen, but has a future as a starter that could be in jeopardy. He tossed 10.2 innings with 4 earned runs, 17 strikeouts, and 6 walks. Walker Buehler (0-3, 9.26 ERA, 1.80 WHIP) looked to get his season back on track against his former team and Dennis Santana (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). Late scoring helped us salvage this game 4-3. Buehler was better, 2 runs in 5 innings with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Shiotani got the win, despite allowing a run and a hit in 2 innings with 2 strikeouts. Jorge Moya earned the save with a perfect 9th. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo shot. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Scott Kingery had a pinch hit double in the 9th that drove in the go ahead run. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-3 with a double. Kyle Tucker was 5-for-5 as the Astros beat the Whtie Sox 7-5. April 22nd, 2024: We're up to 5th in the Power Rankings, but the Red Hot Mets remain 1st. Their offense isn't very good, their pen isn't very good, their rotation is crippled, but they are still winning games. We looked to win the series with A.J. Puckett (2-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) taking on Robinson Ortiz (0-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) as we finished off our road trip. We continued the great pitching with a nice 5-1 win. Puck was solid, no runs allowed, but he gave up 4 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Ernesto Estrealla finished the 7th to earn a hold, before we jumped ahead 5-0. Max Povse tossed the last 2 innings, with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a 2 run homer. Seth Beer hit a pinch hit 3-run homer in the 8th. Thomas Dillard scored twice and was 2-for-5. We'd return for three with the Phillies. They've had a rough go of things,3-12 to start the season. We'd see Marcos Molina (0-2, 12.54 ERA), Sixto Sanchez (1-1, 8.71 ERA), and Adbert Alzolay (0-1, 9.00 ERA). You can tell why they've starterd so bad... April 23rd, 2024: Jordan Montgomery (2-0, 1.37 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) looked to build off a great outing against Marcos Molina (0-2, 12.54 ERA, 1.82 WHIP) to start the series. We scored 5 in the 4th, and that's all we'd need in the 5-1 win. Mongomery allowed just an unearned run in 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. He's building a strong April that's worthy of Pitcher of the Month. Tyler Jay and Alpha Quivers tossed 3 perfect frames with 3 strikeouts. Scott Kingery was the hero, and was 1-for-3 with a grand slam against his former team. Nick Gordon was 2-for-2 with a run scored, RBI, double, and a walk. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 24th, 2024: Now just 1 out of first, Mike Soroka (2-1, 4.34 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) took on Sixto Sanchez (1-1, 8.71 ERA, 1.84 WHIP) as we looked to take the series a game early. It was a rough outing for the pitching, as we were crushed 11-3. Soroka allowed 5 runs in 5.1 innings off 6 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Tyler Jay didn't get an out, allowing 3 runs and 3 hits. Erneso Estrella couldn't either, 2 runs off 2 walks and a hit. Jorge Moya pitched the 9th, and got a strikeout, but allowed a solo hoemr. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with a double, walk and run scored. Nick Gordon was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI's, a walk, and Sac Fly. April 25th, 2024: We needed to win the series with Jake Florence (1-2, 3.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) taking on Adbert Alzolay (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 1.77 WHIP). We took the finale 5-2 before getting tomorrow off. Florence went 6, allowing 2 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Shiotani got a 2 inning hold with 3 strikeouts, before Moya earned his 6th save with a hitless 9th. Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two run shot. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Thomas Dillard and Blake Tiberi were 1-for-4 with solo homers. Adam Haseley was 2-for-3 with a walk and double. Tigers RF Jonathan Engelmann was 5-for-5 in a 9-8 win over the Royals. |

April 26th-May 2nd
April 26th, 2024: We got to enjoy beautiful Miami with a nice day off. We had two more home series before we were forced to head to the road.
At 12-7, we're the #1 Wild Card, but 2 games out of first. We'd host the Rockies for three, and would see Juan Coira (0-1, 4.96 ERA), Jared Poche (0-1, 5.06 ERa), and German Marquez (1-3, 5.06 ERA). April 27th, 2024: Walker Buehler (0-3, 7.56 ERA, 1.74 WHIP) could use a good start against Juan Coira (0-1, 4.96 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). Finally, the Buehler I know in a 7-1 victory. Buehler was brilliant, 2 hits and 2 walks with the lone run in 6 innings with 8 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella, Max Povse, and Mason Barnett finished the final three innings, with a hit, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. 5 of the 6 were courtesy of Estrella. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-3 with a homer, double, sac-fly, 2 runs and 3 RBI's. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI, double, and was 1-for-2 with stolen bases. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a double. He's started great, hitting .373 with 3 homers and 8 RBI's in his platoon with Lewis Brinson. Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. April 28th, 2024: A.J. Puckett (3-0, 1.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) got the ball in game two against Jared Poche (0-1, 5.06 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). It was a hard fought match, but the Rox bested us 7-6. Puck allowed 4 runs in 4 innings off 5 hits and 3 strikeouts. Mason Barnett allowed 2 runs in 1.1 innings off 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. Alpha Quivers struck out the side in the 8th, but allowed a pair of hits and a run for the loss. Scott Kingery was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 homers, 2 runs scored, 3 RBI's, and a walk. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a two run homer and a pair of walks. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-5. Max Povse left the game with an injury. April 29th, 2024: Povse strained his abdominal muscle and will head to the DL for about 2 weeks. I replaced him with lefty Tim Cate. I have an extremely lefty heavy pen, but most of my AAA guys are lefties as well. Cate was 2-0 with 3 saves and a 1.72 ERA in 15.2 innings to go with a 0.83 WHIP, 17 strikeouts, and just 2 walks. We're up to 5th in the Power Rankings, but the Mets still rank 1st. The finale saw Jordan Montgomery (3-0, 1.05 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) duel German Marquez (1-3, 5.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). I couldn't believe it, and we dropped the finale 4-1. Montgomery allowed 3 runs (1 earned) in 6 innings with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luiz Gohara allowed a run off a single hit, without getting a hit. The run scored while Alpha Quivers was pitching. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a double and walk. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-3 with a walk. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a run scored and steal. We got to stay home, but had to host the Mets for three. Even with a sweep, we'd just tie them for the top spot. We'd face Michael Wacha (2-1, 6.65 ERA), Chris Sale (2-0, 1.77 ERA), and David Peterson (3-1, 2.78 ERA). April 30th, 2024: We finished April with the opener in a tough opener against the Mets in Marlins Park. Mike Soroka (2-2, 5.25 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) was on the mound against Michael Wacha (2-1, 6.65 ERA, 1.61 WHIP). Soroka had a rough first outing against the Mets this year, so I'm hoping this will go different. Soroka was brilliant, and we bareley beat the visitors 1-0. Soroka tossed 7 scorless with 5 hits and 10 strikeouts. He's either amazing or awful so far. Luiz Gohara eanred a hold and Jorge Moya got the save. Shoehi Ohtani was responsible for the only run, a solo shot off Wacha with 2 outs in the 6th. Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 wtih a double and walk. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-2 with a walk. May 1st, 2024: As I expected, Jordan Montgomery was named Pitcher of the Month in April with a brilliant opening month. At 3-1, he had a 1.14 ERA in 31.2 innings with 23 strikeouts and a 1.01 WHIP. Down in Jacksnoville, 25-year-old Logan Gragg was named Pitcher of the Month. He was 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 8 relief appearences with 14 K's and 4 walks. We looked to cut the Mets' lead to 1 with Jake Florence (2-2, 3.68 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) battling Chris Sale (2-0, 1.77 ERA, 0.98 WHIP). Sale was tough, and the Mets evened the series with a 4-1 win. Florence allowed 3 runs in 6 innings off 4 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella pitched the 9th, and allowed 2 hits, a walk, and a run. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4. Nick Gordon and Shoehi Ohtani were 1-for-4 with a double, although Gordon drove in Seth Beer for the only run of the game. Beer was 0-for-2, but walked twice. May 2nd, 2024: We looked to earn the series win with Walker Buehler (1-3, 5.96 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) taking on David Peterson (3-1, 2.78 ERA, 0.93 WHIP). It was another close game, but we took the finale 4-1. Buehler threw a lot of pitches, and lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing a run off 4 hits, a walk, and he struck out 5. Tim Cate got the win, going 1.1 innings with 2 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella and Luiz Gohara earned holds, with Moya taking the save. Ohtani stayed hot, going 3-for-4 with a RBI and a double. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-5 with a double and RBI. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Brendan Rodgers scored twice, and was 1-for-4. Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with a RBI, run scored, and walk. The Mets lead is down to two, and we head to Washington for three with the 13-12 Nationals. We'd face Sonny Warner (2-0, 5.82 ERA), Erling Moreno (2-1, 2.91 ERA), and Jay Groome (2-1, 1.87 ERA). The draft pool will be published after the series, and with all the top picks I have, it better be a strong pool... |

May 3rd-May 9th
May 3rd, 2024: It took a long time, but RP Edwin Diaz has finally been signed.
The Astros gave him a 1-year, $34,000,000 contract. I claimed RHP Touki Toussaint off waivers and optioned LHP Tim Cate to AAA. I really needed to add more righties to the pen, and he's a solid arm with good stamina. We opened the series in Washington with A.J. Puckett (3-0, 2.91 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) taking on Sonny Warner (2-0, 5.82 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). The Nats got the best of us, taking the opener 7-1. Puck allowed 4 runs in 4.1 innings off 8 hits and 2 strikeouts. Toussaint made his Marlins debut, tossing 1.2 scorless innings with a hit, walk, and strikeout. Yasukazu Shiotani had a rough inning, 4 htis and 2 runs in the 8th. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Adam Haseley was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Shoehi Ohtani was 0-for-2, but walked twice. Puckett left the game with bicep tendinitis and is headed to the DL for 2 weeks. I recalled Garrett McDaniels to take his rotation spot. May 4th, 2024: We looked to even the series with Jordan Montgomery (3-1, 1.14 ERA, 1.01 WHIP) battling Erling Moreno (2-1, 2.91 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). Montgomery looked to build upon his stellar April, but May was different, and we dropped this one 4-2. Montgomery allowed 3 runs off 5 hits in 4.1.innings with 5 strikeouts. Tyler Jay continues to struggle, allowing a run in 0.2 innings with 2 hits. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-2 with a walk, run scored, and hit by pitch. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a RBI, steal, and walk. Blake Tiberi was 1-for-2 with a RBI and 2 walks. Cody Bellinger launched 2 homers in a 14-2 Tigers witn over the White Sox. Chance Sisco was 5-for-5 in an Orioles 17-2 win over the Astros. May 5th, 2024: We looked to avoid the sweep with Mike Soroka (3-2, 4.06 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) taking on Jay Groome (2-1, 1.87 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). We hit this game, winning 6-3. Soroka tossed 5.1 innings, with 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Mason Barnett allowed an unearned run in 1.1 innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Luiz Gohara and Alpha Quivers earned holds before Jorge Moya got the save. Shoehoi Ohtnai had a great game, 4-for-5 with a homer, double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Nick Gordon was 1-for-5 with a 2 run homer. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and RBI. Brendan Rodhers was 1-for-3 with a walk, double, run scored, and was one of three batters hit by a pitch. We get tomorrow off, and the draft pool will be announced! May 6th, 2024: Down in Jupiter, C Jake Taylor was named player of the week, hitting .500 with a homer and 8 RBI's. The Reds will be without 33-year-old rookie Brad Schreiber for the rest of the season with a torn rotator cuff. The RHP was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA. The Power Rankings dropped us to 8th. With the draft pool published, here is what OSA things is the best: 1. 1B Blaze Jordan (0.5/4.5): Selected by Kansas City in the 4th Round in 2021 2. RHP Ethan Woord (1.5/4.5) 3. RHP Dawuan Gholston (2.5/5) 4. CF Rob Davis (0.5/4) 5. RHP Sergoi Romero (3/4.5) 6. RHP Amari Queen (0.5/4.5) 7. RHP Kevin Sturgeon (1.5/5): Selected by us in the first round last year 8. RHP Mike Humby (0.5/5) 9. RHP Ken Rueden (3/5) 10. RHP Dan Rubey (0.5/5) My scout doesn't like most of these guys, and it looks like I'm sorting in by overall/potential, not my scout/OSA... My scout doesn't "love" the pool, but there are a few guys he really likes. CF Dusty Hite (5) has to be the guys I want with my pick or SP Chris Bigsby (4.5) although he is a border line starter. RP Andy Hippler (1.5/5) is the safe pick, and I'd consider a supplemental pick on him. SP Juan Maya (4) is also a solid option, although there's not too much after that. In case you want to know how my unsigned Class of 2021 looks now: 12th Round: CF Kelyn Critch (0.5): Selected in the 16th Round by Atlanta in 2022 13th Round: RF Jorge Arroyo (0.5) 18th Round: 3B Erik Gregg (0.5) 21st Round: 1B Bobby Wells (0.5): Selected again by us in the 34th Round in 2022, and later released 23rd Round: CF Savion Vilsaint (0.5) 25th Round: SP Jon McKinley (0.5) 26th Round: RF Phil Bromley (0.5) 31st Round: C Chris Bell (0.5) 34th Round: SP Ronnie Bourgeois (0.5) 35th Round: SP Radhakrish Masrani (0.5) 37th Round: CF Ben Anthony (0.5) 38th Round: 2B R.J. Price (0.5) 39th Round: SP Omari Hariot (0.5) Doesn't look like anyone got away from me... We're off to Atlanta for three with the 12-16 Braves who own the inverse of our record. We'll face Jose Albertos (1-0, 1.04 ERA), Patrick Weigel (1-3, 5.76 ERA), and Sean Newcomb. May 7th, 2024: The A's will be without 24-year-old RHP Greg Baker for the year with a ruptrued ulnar collateral ligament. In 12 games (2 starts), he was 0-0 with a save, 2.11 ERA, and 1.41 WHIP in 21.1 innings. Jake Florence (2-3, 3.86 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) opened the series against Jose Albertos (1-0, 1.04 ERA, 0.98 WHIP) who's making his first start of the season after 13 relief appearences. Christian Franklin is playing CF and hitting 8th for them, part of the package for SP Mike Soroka. The Braves crushed us 10-4 to open the series as we continue to struggle on the road. The pen was the problem, as while Florence wasn't great, he allowed just 3 runs in 5 innings with 7 hits, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Shiotani allowed 2 runs off 2 hits and got just 1 out. Luiz Gohara allowed 2 hits and 2 runs without getting an our. Alpha Quivers allowed 2 runs, a hit, a walk, and a strike out in 0.2 innings. Touki Toussaint allowed a run, hit, walk, and got a strikeout to finish the 8th. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a walk and solo homer. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4. May 8th, 2024: Walker Buehler (1-3, 5.27 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) looked to even the series against Patrick Weigel (1-3, 5.76 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). We got 4 in the 7th to get back on track with a 6-4 win. Buehler allowed 3 runs in 5.2 innings with 8 hits, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Shiotani finished the 6th with a strikeout and got the win. Ernesto Estrealla, Gohara, and Quivers got holds before Moya earned the save. Estrella allowed a hit, run, and walk in his inning. Shoehi Ohtani had an amazing game, 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and 6 total RBI's. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 walks. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. Blake Tiberi was 2-for-3 with a walk. May 9th, 2024: Garrett McDaniels made his first start of the season against Ty Madden (1-3, 4.99 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) in the rubber match of this three game series. We edged the Braves 7-6 in the finale to take the road series. McDaniels pitched fine, 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 3 strikeouts and earned himself another start. Tyler Jay had a rough outing, 3 runs with 2 hits and a walk without getting an out. Toussaint got the win, 1.2 innings with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Quivers earned a hold and Moya a save. Adam Haseley was a perfect 4-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and 3 RBI's. Blake Tiberi was 2-for-4 with a three run homer and a walk. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and double. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with 3 walks and a run scored. We got tomorrow off before we finally get to return home! |
