Maybe this is beyond the scope of possibility, but ideally, I'd love to see the storylines tend to make use of the individual player attitudes and attributes:
* Very unhappy player misses 10 days on the advice of his psychiatrist after cracking when fans refuse his availability to sign autographs. * Player with high intelligence appears on Celebrity Jeopardy! and wins $50,000 for local charity, causing fan interest a slight bump. * Player with VERY, VERY, VERY low intelligence leaves the team after winning a seat to the U. S. Senate. etc. |

I think I'm going to report Andreas for trolling. Just maybe that will get his attention that he needs to correct himself (but don't worry, I'm not going to hold my breath to that).

What? Are you telling me that Andreas is on top of the forum rules? No Sir, he is not. Andreas has to obey the same rules as anyone else here.

If he wants to follow them that is great. If he doesn't want to follow them who is going to warn him? Its "their" forum and I think they are allowed to use it how they would like. I don't think it is a battle you can win so I would just let it go. |

Personally, I didn't see much an issue with the first post. The piling on that came after I didn't personally agree with but I don't feel its my place to get involved. Wolf probably does have the best interests of the game at heart but sometimes his vision of where he thinks the game should be clouds his judgement IMO. I find that people get very annoyed when a person tries to force their agenda on them. If everyone had the same priorities of how they want to play their games we would be a nice peaceful community. The thread is fine. It's just that Andreas singled out Wolf in his opening post and that just so happens to be a no no. As I've previously said, if Andreas has any issues with Wolf then he should deal with them privately, not publicly as he did with that OP. Yeah, I have no doubts that they both discussed the creation of this thread at length but I highly doubt that Markus knew that Andreas was going to single out Wolf with his OP. IMHO, if Markus only knew what Andreas had intent to do, he would most likely have said no go.

Given Wolf's ceaseless personal attacks on anyone who disagrees with his myopic points of view, he would have been kicked out of a lot of forums long ago. He does add some benefit to the OOTP forums but does far more harm than good. For Andreas to simply call him out and not ban him, actually shows great restraint on Andreas part. Many of us here wouldn't have been nearly so patient with Wolf if we were in a position of authority. Last edited by Lukas Berger; 08-24-2013 at 02:15 PM. |

My thoughts on storylines. I don't think they increase immersion like they were intended to. At the end of the day, when I read a storyline, I don't even give a **** at all about what the "event" was since I know it it is a pre-programmed, randomly generated response. Whether the player broke his back chopping wood or burned his hand while cooking, all I want to know is how long he is out for. The only thing I care about is how this event will affect the ratings and availability of the player in question. Therefore, at least in my experience, it has not increased immersion, nor has it even been interesting. The only reason I haven't turned them off is that I've never seen a storyline really affect me significantly and I'm too lazy to find the option to turn it off.
I understand that random **** happens to players in real life, but I just don't like the idea of having programmed random **** in the game. The same goes for league evolution. I understand that league rules change over time but that doesn't mean I want changes programmed into the league. For example, once the league gave teams control over their players for an extra year and that just ruined the entire franchise for me. The entire dynamics of the game are changed and it's not realistic at all, despite the fact that in real life, changes do occur. IMO, sports simulation games should not factor in off the field random changes (this applies more to league evolution than storylines though). |

This thread's still going on?
This board seems to have gone off the deep end lately. I'm gonna go hide out in the graphics forum for a bit. |

I love this forum, but wouldn't want to be in charge of it. That being said, it's very well run and for the most part very well behaved. Sure we end up in some spats, but heck sometimes it gets cramped in the dugout. |

They offer us the opportunity to not have any of these things we don't want therefore I don't quite understand the opposition. Yeah, maybe its currently flawed but things like that are a work in progress to get them right. Now if we only had an option for "stupid" or "non-stupid" computer managers Id be happy I also shouldn't so hard on that subject as I cant imagine how hard it must be to just code a computer manager with all of the different possibilites to select from.
