The 1888 Season is about to begin but first, there were some name changes. The Boston Reds are now the Boston Rebels. The Cincinnati Outlaw Reds are now the Cincinnati Winds, the Cleveland Forest Citys are now the Cleveland Kings, New Haven Elm Citys are now the New Haven Ravens and the Altoona Mountain Citys are now the Altoona Blue Birds. In a couple cases, the names were for teams already in existence, the Blue Birds I played with till I got something to work. Was having issues with the unis and caps but it worked out ok.
Season starting now but wont be straight through, got some things to do this afternoon so, be done sometime tonight. Enjoy

Just a little less work and really no reason to do a monthly report. More coming up soon.

1888 NL Final Standings
1888 NL Hitting and Pitching Leaders NOTE: Having some graphics issues that I just cant figure out so, if it looks stupid, sorry. Just has to be that way till I can figure this out, or someone can. The NL was mostly Syracuse all season. The Wolvierines did make a run at them but Syracuse would have none of it, winning their 2nd title in a row. Next year will have only one change and that will be the renaming of the Cleveland Blues to the Cleveland Spiders.

1888 NA Final Standings
1888 NA Championship Overview 1888 NA Hitting and Pitching Leaders As the season came to a close, neither league was close. The Olympics winning the CL by 8 games and the Centenniels winning the IL by 13 games. This would bring a showdown in the NA Championship that would be the 3rd trip for the Centenniels and 2nd, in a row, for the Olympics. The Centenniels would prove the adage of the 3rd time being the charm as they beat the Olympics 4-2 to win their first NA Title. For the offseason, there are rumors that two teams my be joining the IL but nothing has been set in concrete just yet. More news may come during the winter meetings.

1888 AA Final Standings
1888 AA Hitting and Pitching Leaders The American Association ended up being a three team race but the Athletics held off the Buckeyes and Colonels to win their 2nd title. The 1889 season will see two name changes as the Buckeyes of Columbus become the Solons and the Grays of Brooklyn become the Bridegrooms.

1888 UA Final Standings
1888 UA Championship 1888 UA Hitting and Pitching Leaders In the EL, the Blue Birds from Altoona gave the Monumentals of Baltimore a run but just couldnt beat them in the end, allowing Baltimore its 2nd EL title in a row. The biggest story happened in the WL. St Paul has been dominant over the life of the UA, winning the first four WL Penants and 2 UA titles along the way. But not in the fifth season. The Brewers pulled it off and beat the White Caps in a one game show down to win their first WL penant and a chance to face the Monumental in the UA Championship. That was a battle the Monumentals were more than ready for. They nearly swept the Brewers, winning the UA title 4-1. As in the NA, there are rumors that the WL will be adding two teams. It is said that the owners feel that St Paul has been so successful due to the lack of solid competition. Winter meetings will be very busy in both leagues. Up Next: Yearly Awards.
