RF/1B Shawn Cameron, Jupiter Hammerheads A (Miami A)

Cameron is being brought along very slowly. He projects to be a star player, and will probably rise in the prospect ranks after another season. He's still a few years away especially if the Marlins are serious about him sticking in RF.

SP/MR Scott "Strawberry" Fields, A Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets A)
[As a SP, he is 20/35]

Fields continues to creep up slowly through the system. If he improves his stamina, he will be a #2/#3 starter in the big leagues. This is where the Mets are playing him now. If he doesn't, "Strawberry" will be a solid Long Reliever for years to come. Either way, scouts predict Fields to make a major league roster if and when he improves his control.

MR Rusty Priske, S A Williamsport (Phillies S A)

Rusty had a great season as a reliever in S A. He improved during this highlight season but still has a ways to go if he wants to end up on a major league roster. It doesn't look like "The Poet" will write a long, major league career.

C Damien "Dago Red" Rosetto, A Augusta

"Dago Red" is holding his own in limited time at S A and A in the giants system. Developmentally he seems to have hit his ceiling. He has the right skillset to see limited time in the majors. The question remains: where will he play?

SS Jeffery Lage, St Lucie Mets (Mets A)

Lage had a solid season. With his power, he looks likely to make a major league roster, but will probably be as a utility player. He seems to be hitting a wall in his development -- which is not a good thing. We'll see if his ratings continue to lump.

SP Eric Scott "The Montross" Montross, Yakima Bears (S A Arizona)

Montross could make it as a hard-throwing, low-control reliever in the majors. He seems destined for mediocrity. Perhaps with his height and build he should try basketball instead.

Barry Bums, OF Cleveland (ML)

Bums has a decent shot to overtake the sub-par Michael Brantley in LF next season for the Indians, or at least platoon with them. The Indians seem to be good at developing players (see Hegstrand, Mike and Davis, Crash)

Crash Davis, C

Crash has everything that screams "Multiple Time All-Star" right now. Could be great for years to come. His defensive issues remain troubling, but he's only been in the majors a very short amount of time.

INF Timmy Hawk

White Sox are experimenting still with Timmy, trying him at Second and Short. I'm hoping Friedman's analysis doesn't indicate that the Sox have messed up the #1 Prospect already

The White Sox must be the laughingstock of this game. They're very, very stupid. Looks like Timmy will either start in AAA or end up a backup again.

UTIL Shawn Cameron, Miami Marlins

There are many unknown qualities about Shawn Cameron. The Marlins seem unsure where they want to play him. He hasn't made it past A Ball and yet is easily a top 100 prospect.

Was a bit surpirsed not to see him higher up the ladder Then again, the last draft class seems to get the most play -- expect him to become more of a known quantity.

SP Dean Caufeild, Modesto Nuts (Rockies A)

Another solid season from "Buddy" Caufield. He's gradually improving his ceiling and potentials. I feel him as a major league player some day.

3B Mike "Mullet" Hegstrand, A Lake County (Cleveland A)

Hegstrand seems to be improving his ceiling and actuals with his solid performance. Andrew Friedman, our scout, thinks he's headed for a "Hall of Fame Career". If he keeps up his work ethic and improves at this rate he'll make a few all-star teams before all is said and done.

UTIL Deepak Khabra, AA Rochester (Twins AA)

Khabra continues to impress in the minors. He's an interesting prospect. A lot is going to come down to Khabra's defensive prowess. He seems to be developing fairly well at 2nd so far.

UTIL Jeffery Lage, A Savannah (A NY Mets)

Lage seems to hit for a low average but have a good eye. He seems to be slumping a bit due to his slow development -- he was ready for full-season last year yet didn't get the call up. His defense is improving rapidly.

SP Eric Montross, Yamika Bears S A (S A Arizona)

Montross has done very, very little above Rookie Ball. I really think, barring a solid season next year, that he's done.

MR/SP Rusty Priske, S A Williamsport

Control is going to be the major hurdle for Priske as a reliever. Next season is going to be make or break for his shot at the big leagues.

C Damien "Dago Red" Rosetto, Augusta Greenjackets (S A Giants)

He just screams "third catcher on the forty-man" or "platoon backup". Take that how you will. He seems to become more and more specialized as a hitter, which is a good thing for his future role.

SP/MR Scott Fields, S A Brooklyn

Fields, unlike Lage, is benefiting from extended stay at low league ball. The Mets seem determined to make him a starter. Stamina is going to be a big issue for Fields though he has the stuff to start, easy. It's going to be a matter of how well Fields can check his control issues whether or not he sticks in the big leagues.
