Wednesday, June 7th, 2119: 25 Games in a Row for Mateo
"Yeah, I kept my string going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Anastasio Mateo after the Florida Marlins fell 12-3 to Las Vegas in Dolphin Stadium today.

The 25-year-old first baseman upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games with 1 hit in 3 at-bats.
A. Mateo grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

Friday, June 16th, 2119: Perfect Game: González Dominates Phillies
It began like any other game, but by the seventh inning everybody in Dolphin Stadium knew history was in the making. When the last out was made, Júlio González of the Florida Marlins had made history and will be immortalized in the league record books for pitching a perfect game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He beat them 4-0, yielded no hits, no walks and no baserunners in his historic outing. Throughout the game, González was electric, handing out 10 Ks to a shocked Phillies offense. It will be a day he will always remember.

"Don't let anybody kid you," he told reporters after the game, "they know when it's a no-hitter... you can see the big "zero" on the scoreboard... but I didn't realize no one had gotten on base until the last inning. That made it even worse... this was a perfect game... and I didn't want to lose it. Luckily I was in a fog during the last three hitters and the pressure didn't faze me. I guess ignorance is bliss when you are pitching a perfect game."

Over the season González has thrown 90 innings and dished out 91 strikeouts with a 7-5 mark and a 3.60 ERA.

Florida is 34-32 on the year; Philadelphia is also 34-32.

In 122 games this season Wooten is batting .314 with 139 hits and 27 home runs. He has scored 95 runs and driven in 94.

Monday, August 28th, 2119: Lane Tosses No-Hitter Against Toronto
Excitement reigned at the ballyard today as Hartford hurler Brennan Lane tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.

After defeating the Toronto Blue Jays at XL Field 2-0 he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments. "I'm just glad to be here. I want to help the club any way I can. Today I just went right at the Toronto as hard as I could, as long as I could."

Lane chalked up 15 strikeouts and allowed 2 walks in his superb performance. It's the 4th no-hitter of his career.

The Hartford manager had his own analysis of the ballgame: "I don't think we could have hit him with a howitzer today."

In the 2119 season Lane has 17 wins and 6 losses and a 2.09 ERA.

Hartford improves to 88-45; Toronto falls to 61-72

Friday, September 1st, 2119: Hartford Starter Selected Best Pitcher
It was a very good month for Brennan Lane in August. The 36-year-old veteran starter for the Hartford Whalers outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the American League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Lane ran up a 4-1 record in his 6 starts during the month. In 50 innings he fanned 69 and recorded a 0.90 ERA. He even no-hit the Toronto Blue Jays.

This season Lane has compiled a 17-6 mark with a 2.09 ERA in 29 starts.

Lane has won the Pitcher of the Month Award for the 20th time in his career.

Sunday, October 1st, 2119: Mateo of Florida Earns NL Batting Crown
Anastasio Mateo went to the plate 680 times, collected 227 hits and came away with the 2119 National League batting title. His .334 average placed him at the top of the list. The Florida Marlins first baseman played in 162 games and had 32 home runs, 135 RBIs and 116 runs scored.

Sunday, October 1st, 2119: Ramón Sousa Paces AL with .339 Average
Congratulations are in order for Cleveland right fielder Ramón Sousa as he was presented with the 2119 American League batting title yesterday at a special awards ceremony. Sousa was honored for his league-leading .339 average. He collected 205 hits in 605 at-bats, including 25 doubles, 4 triples and 51 home runs. The 31-year-old Sousa also had 144 RBIs and scored 135 runs.

Sunday, October 1st, 2119: Lane of Hartford Wins Pitching Triple Crown
Brennan Lane of Hartford has done what few pitchers in Major League Baseball have been able to do. He's won the Triple Crown, leading the league in all three major categories: wins, ERA and strikeouts. The Whalers star finished 2119 with a 23-6 mark to pace the American League in wins. He also posted a league best 2.06 ERA and topped the league with 347 strikeouts. A season good enough to put him as a strong favorite to take the AL Outstanding Pitcher Award.

"His level of consistency is amazing," said the Whalers manager. "Brennan goes out there every time he gets the ball and keeps you in the game. You know that when he's on the mound, you have an excellent chance at winning the game."

Lane is a low key kind of guy. He is very proud of his wins, but not really excited about his unique accomplishment this season. He admitted to the press, "Maybe, just maybe, I'll look back on this Triple Crown when I retire and smile. But for now my stats are for my kids to brag about and for the media-types who love talking about numbers."
