I don't like this move. Either you make it in the offseason or you do it later in the year. 4 games is not enough to determine whether Savard can lead the kids. I think he deserved more time after what he pulled out of his hat last year, getting them almost into the playoffs with a subpar Bulin Wall. Adding Campbell and Huet should get them in.

I just don't like how they treated one of the best former players. Quenneville is a nice pickup, and he definitely has the experience with St. Louis and Colorado. The Central has some of the best coaches in the game right now (Babcock, Hitchcock, Trotz), so it will be a good year for hockey.

Blue Jackets have 20 goals through 6 games (3.33/G, 9th in the NHL). Absolutely stunning.

Code:
Line 1 G A P
LW Rick Nash 5 1 6
C R.J. Umberger 0 2 2
RW Kristian Huselius 3 4 7

Line 2 G A P
LW Jason Chimera 3 3 6
C Derick Brassard 2 3 5
RW Jakub Voracek 2 3 5
Huselius is basically the first line center Nash needed, he's just doing it from the wing. R.J. needs to pick it up. The Chimera-Rookie-Rookie line has been fun.

Of course, this has been off-set by Leclaire/Norrena playing like garbage until last night.

Obviously, it's still early.

You're stunned that they're better than two thirds of the league, or that they're worse than only a third of the league? I fail to see anything stunning, perhaps you can help me .

They were last in the NHL last year in scoring, 2.35 goals a game.

Ah, ok. Well, getting two good offensive lines certainly helps...

In this game we've replaced your Ottawa Senators with guys that couldn't even crack the Toronto Maple Leaf's roster. Let's see what happens..

T%hat was a brutal stretch for the Canucks. I wonder if they'll still be hung over from it on Saturday, when they finally come home and play the Oilers. NHL Network is carrying the game and I'm looking forward to it. The 'Nucks games I've seen so far have been fun to watch, and I'm beginning to really like the team even though they've gone through that horrid road swing.

Of course, they're the closest NHL team to Portland, so I'm being local here.

Anyone read the draft articles on ESPN today? Pretty good recap of the last few drafts-I can't believe the U of M gophers haven't won every championship since 2003-Vanek, Ballard, Kessel are all playing amazing right now, and Blake Wheeler is looking really good.

As a fan free agent (I've sworn off the Wild), I may pick Boston as my new team. I was going to go Chicago as they were my favorite team as a kid, but they just fired my all time favorite player and I'm pouting about that.

As a Canadien fan, I really shouldn't say this, but I really do like the Bruins. First off, they have a super nice uniform. Second, they are an "Original 6" team, which I think is kinda cool. Third, they are currently led by Claude Julien, whose physical appeal is reversely proportional to his coaching abilities.

I would just like to post a note for all directors of hockey television broadcasts:

The high centerline camera is just fine for all instances during live play. Thank you.

Seriously-if I see that stupid low-corner shot anymore, I'm going to scream. You can't see the players off the puck, and you miss all the context of the game. Its fine for replays, but for live play, I've yet to see something as good as the up-high centerline camera angle.

I'm not sure if this is a US only problem or not, but tonight while watching the Gophers on the Big Ten Network (another issue all together) I was treated to this camera angle for what seemed like every powerplay-a situation where the wide view would be perfect because of the passing and one timers. But no, I got stuck trying to watch a game through the eyes of some cameraman who seemed as if he had never watched a hockey game before and was constantly losing the puck.

Gah.

Its cool. I feel the same way about all of the Canadian teams.

Except for Winnipeg, I always liked them. Could be because Manitoba is just like Minnesota, except its metric.

Talk about your dumb rule - I just can't understand the reasoning behind this one by the IOC:

Hockey Canada may be forced to alter logo for 2010 games

I don't really like the logo, so I don't mind it that much. I kinda like the logo on those dreadful black uniforms though, but I'd much rather prefer something a little less... well... obsolete.

God damn Islanders......how do you blow a 4-1 3rd period lead????

Sigh. And I thought it was going to be an excellent night for the Sabres after that 5-0 win.
