I really think it is time for Greg Walker to get the boot. Other than 2005, the Sox have been a home run or nothing type of hitting club. This was the exact same type of hitter Walker was when he played. I'm really not sure he knows what he is doing. I'd love to see Baines get a shot at working with the hitters since he was a complete hitter for his entire career.

Another good pitching performance doused by our inept offense.

We lose this one 3-2, with 5 hits.

Erstad led off the game with a single, but was left on 1st, thus setting the tone that we will just wait on the home run. No steal attempt, bunt, or anything else.

Its getting, very bad. Oh yeah, and AJ batted 3rd

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that Ozzie is picking his lineups out of a hat, or by throwing darts at a team photo, or something.

I can't wait until Pods and Thome come back, at least the lineups should get back to something approximating a real lineup.

Here's a sobering stat:

The White Sox have not scored a run that didn't involve a homer in 37 innings.

Yep when you are batting .220 as a team after 1 month of play I think that is a pretty clear call that something needs to be changed.

They should fire the Yankees strength and conditioning coach.

The good news: The Sox finally scored a run without hitting a home run to do it!

The bad news: It was the only one they scored en route to their 5th straight loss!

Good to see the offense finally get it in gear for a couple games now.

A.J. Pierzynski - sticking it to the Angels since 2005!

Not relevant to this season, really, but check out this awesome clip of Ivan Calderon robbing Alan Trammell of a home run circa 1987 or 1988:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0o9vgvJOuM

One of the more under-rated awesome catches of all time, IMHO.

And, just so you know, the outfielder that comes over to congratulate Calderon is...

...wait for it...

Kenny Williams!

The best part is how it literally looks like he's treading water out there.

I guess Erstad's not used to center field in such an unfamiliar ballpark.

Definitely one of the strangest plays I've seen in a long time. People miss fly balls here and there, but Erstad was nowhere near the ball

Judging from the time of day that it took place, I imagine he must've just lost the ball against the twighlight, which I've heard is fairly easy to do.

But, yeah, he looked Rob Mackowiak lost.

dola,

Again, not related to the 2007 season in the slightest, but I also came across this over the weekend:

http://www.archive.org/details/361002CubsVsWhiteSox

MP3s of the radio broadcast of Game 2 of the 1936 Chicago City Series from Comiskey Park - and it's a White Sox Winner!

Uh, they relied on the home run to score their runs more in 2005 than anytime in recent memory.

2005 was also their worst offensive year as a team since AT LEAST 1999.

Yes, yes, yes, we all know that Ozzieball/Smartball/Smallball was a myth.

The point is that, so far this year, the Sox have been much more literally a "home run or nothing" team. 37 innings of no runs scoring without being the direct result of a home run, for crying out loud.

Please, for you to try and call me out is a joke. I've been a Sox season ticket holder since I was a little boy and unlike most people, I was a fan before 2005. I live and breathe the White Sox. Yes, it may be pathetic, but it is my passion. Ask my dogs Maggs and Baines No Joke, but I'd like to change Maggs' name . As for 2005, the team did not solely rely on the home run. They found ways to score and did not always need the 2 run or 3 run bomb to score, which they did last year and now. Of course they had a lot of home runs in 2005, what team would not with Konerko, Dye, and Crede. The Sox have typically had a lot of power in the lineup for quite a while, especially with guys like Thomas, Belle, Ordonez, and Lee in previous years. However, as previously stated, they did not rely on it in 2005. Every other year for quite a while (excluding 2005), we have had to watch them swing for the fences or nothing. Plus this year you can actually see them swinging for the fences at just about everything. I just want to see good at bats, which is why they had so many homers in '05. Okay, enough. I think I've made my point.
