Apparently, he tore his flexor tendon in his elbow. It's not Tommy John surgery, but it's done for the year.

Most Mets fans should be cheering over the news of Zambrano going down for the year (other than the human side of it). The last nail in the coffin over the Kazmir trade is finally in there. Lets move on.

Zambrano sucks but you don't get Kazmir back if he's out for the year.

Now the Mets don't have an excuse to not pitch Trachsel and we could forget about the trade. I'm not happy that Lima is my 5th starter and since Benson was traded (a trade I supported) there wasn't any room for error with the rotation. But I'm happy with the offense and defense and the bullpen has been excellent. BTW, crazy play at the plate in the 2nd inning. Looks like LoDuca got him, but he shouldnt have spiked the ball. It's obvious that, had Mets management had any semblance of brains, they would have made sure they included a clause in that trade that, if for some reason this scenario (SEI) occured, they'd be able to reverse the trade and get Kazmir back.

Sarcasm not withstanding, Mets fans are tired of Zambrano and his inconsistancy. But this is the fifth starter we are talking about. While Lima stinks as well it takes the stink of Zambrano and the Kazmir trade out of the rotation. We could just start fresh and stop worrying about the politics involved.

As a Braves fan i'm throwing in the towel. Even though they are winning 13-2 right now. I'm sure they will put Reitsma in and they will lose in 15. This team is awful. Shuerholz needs to get off his ass and go get not 1 but 2 good relievers and another outfielder. Cox needs to get smart and bench Francouer. I don't care if he's hit 2 homeruns in the past 2 games! Cox needs to stop putting in relievers that can't get anybody out in the game when there are runners on and the Braves are up only by 1. End result... reliever gives up 4 runs and the Braves are down by 3. Even though Remlinger is a left hander he cannot get a left hander out. I know this and Bobby Cox should know this. When Remlinger was in his prime in Atlanta he could not get lefties out. Why the **** does Cox think he can get lefties out now that he is 4 years older with less velocity then he had 3 years ago? I'm tired of wasting my time watching this ****. Reitsma is not a closer, he is a mopup reliever! Him and the other 7 members of the Braves pen. They should have spent some money and got Flash Gordon this offseason. They have to have some money laying around. They are not paying all of Hampton's salary and Jones restructured his contract so they could sign Furcal. Since they did not resign Furcal and they are not paying Renteria's contract this year I want to know where is the money? Shuerholz needs to do something quick! Im not watching another Braves game until they do something about this damn team.

I was just looking up Brian Bannister's minor league stats and they were pretty good. I was just wondering what you Mets fans thought of him. Pedro, Glavine, Trachsel, Bannister, and Lima will be the new rotation right? I heard that Randolph said he wasn't putting Heilman in the rotation. |

Hopefully, Lima will be gone as he stinks. I like Bannister as long as he's asked to be a 4 or 5. In his current role, I think he'll be ok. But they need another solid guy. No delusions of an ace, but just a solid pitcher. I'm not sure where that's coming from, but it sure as hell ain't Lima.

John Maine when he comes of the DL? What type of pitcher is Bannister projected as? Middle of the road starter or a front line starter? Last edited by jmaness84; 05-07-2006 at 10:35 PM. |

Bannister isn't frontline. I think best case he's a 3, but more likely a solid 4.
