John,

Wish you were going to GM with us, but at least we'll have the benefit of your historical skills. I think Matt would be wise to have you around the Commish's office to help make impartial decisions.

So, now that I'm heading the White Sox, anyone want them? They are not my favorite team, so if any GM would prefer to head them instead of their current team, who you may have gotten stuck with, let me know. I might prefer the team you have. Matt, if you have a problem with this, let me know.

It's too bad to see you go John. Good luck with work and hope things calm down enough for you to take over a team in the near future. I'm sure we will still see you around.

DamnYankees, good luck with the White Sox. Not quite the team they were at the beginning of the 20's, but there is still hope.

Just as a warning, the Campbell Ditty grudge will still hold against any future owner of the White Sox in honor of the Statman

I have no problem with this as long as it takes place prior to 1946.

John, no problem here, and yes I'd really appreciate it if you remained on the Vet Committee if you can. I'll certainly add you to the waiting list so you can take over in the expansion era if you can.

Also, I'm quite busy so the next update may not come until tomorrow. We'll see.

Well been browsing around the site, and i was wondering, are you going to be taking new managers at all? Looks like all the teams are already accounted for

Not until expansion (1961) or someone resigns (which is unlikely). Get on the waiting list. Believe me, being a spectator is addicting. Most of us have been doing it for 40+ seasons and we're still here.

It's loads of fun and I've had just one ancestor to follow for the past 20 seasons. You'll be checking teams all over the place.

1961 will come around before you know it.

Hell, I didn't have an ancestor until 1941, and I was the biggest Whiskey Allen fan you'll see. I was rooting hard forthat plucky, burly, hard drinkin', hard fartin' sumbitch to win his first championship.

FWIW, I will be around for the TWB and Pat O'Farrell threads. I very much can use the fun.

John, who got a nice big smile from my Special Lady when sending he the link to Bugs and Daffy since I usually play Daffy to her sneaky Bugs...

Shameless Plug:

I've started a recollection of the history of the Boston (N) franchise on the TWB forums. If you all could, please take a look and let me know. It's completely unfinished but it's a start, which is something I didn't have 2 months ago.

Nice stuff. I particularly like breaking down the GG's by position with the overall team leader. I also enjoyed looking back at the Braves' 1st round picks. Amazing that they drafted Jethro Lee & Punchy Cote in consecutive years. Wow, what a staff they'd have had if they kept those too! If my memory serves me right, there have been quite a few very good or great players who have been traded away by the Braves.

The Braves got a lot of high 1st Rd picks with their terrible stretch of losing, but I'd like to compare their picks to those of the Pirates, Tigers and Red Sox.

While I'm thinking of this, should we make a list of the types of historical info that is interesting & make sure every team has theat info posted? Such as GG's by position, POY, BOY, ROY, 1st Rd Picks, etc?

Well I think those are things that are pretty consistent that each team has and will post. We have a solid group of people with a great historical mindset that won't let anything go to waste.

The Braves have traded away a huge listing of bonafide stars, and that is why they are one of the more downtrodden franchises in the TWB. Just looking back through their GG winners and seeing all the different winners at each position tells me two things: They had a lot of "flash in the pan" type players, or they traded talented, proven players for prospects. It obviously worked, as they went to the World Series in '28 and '31, but it could've been a run that rivaled the Yankees and Dodgers. Oh, what could've been...

Also, please add any interesting oddities or stat tidbits you come across to my "Did You Know?" thread on the website.

Also, Matt you have a couple of PMs on the site. Let me know on the article question so I can get to work. Thanks.
