The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that right-fielder Lawrence Butler has been named the Gold Glove winner for his position.
It is the first time the 29-year-old outfielder has won the award.
And it comes as a bit of a surprise as injuries limited him to just 124 games and 117 starts in the outfield.

St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Boston Baro has earned his second consecutive Silver Slugger as the best hitting player at his position in the National League.
In 150 games/142 starts, the 25-year-old hit .279 with 17 home runs, 65 RBIs and 90 runs scored.
His 6.2 WAR for the season ranked fifth in the National League.

The St. Louis Cardinals have made their first move of the Winter Meetings sending first baseman Gino Groover to the Miami Marlins in exchange for right-handed relief pitcher Brett Wichrowski.
Wichrowski, 27, was drafted in the 13th round of the 2023 draft out of Bryant University.
After being released by the Brewers, he was signed to a minor-league deal by Miami in Nov. 2029.
Wichrowski, who has yet to pitch in the majors, split last season between AA and AAA.
In 42 games, all but six at AAA, he was 3-3 with 11 saves and a 4.03 ERA.
What was impressive, however, was he averaged more than 13 strikeouts per nine innings.
Groover, 27, joined the Cardinals via trade from the Mets during the 2027 season.
Over the past three years, he has played in 328 games/317 starts during which he has hit. .280 with 45 home runs and 159 RBIs.
In 2029, Groover played in 128 games/125 starts and hit .277 with 14 home runs and 64 RBIs.
