How about removing a feature?
Please remove the "Argue with umpire" feature. It is such a waste. As it only serves one purpose, to have the chance of getting thrown out of the game. If I wanted to *not* manage the game, I would just fast sim it. Perhaps in real life arguing with the umpire fires up the players, and possibly make them play with more emotion or harder, but in OOTP players are emotionless. So it has no place. There are so many better features that are requested, that could replace the Argue with umpire option.

To go along with tracking Cycles in the league history, also tracking the Triple Crown winners would be cool as well, though that may have to wait for v7, not sure how much coding that would involve.

I know some programs can do this and it would make life so much easier for me and my family that has to share the computer...
Is it possible that when OOTP is started up the window resolution is automatically resized to 1024 x 768? Every time I play I have to open up the options and switch it manually and vice versa when I quit...

Any possibility to track a Zone Rating stat for fielders? Currently, the best in-game defensive stat is Range Factor (which is only listed in HTML reports and not sortable in-game), which is a tiny bit better than raw TC/Assists/PO/E but still hugely flawed when not adjusted for pitching staff. A ZR stat would be a HUGE improvement ...
If this isn't possible to implement, I'd settle for a brief but revealing explanation as to why not ..

Call it chance, but I've occasionally seen my team come back from a large hole to win it once I'm kicked out. Coincidence? Probably. (However the 1st place Indians, with a 7-0 lead going into the 6th inning who end up losing 12-8, would argue differently)

I am not going to wade through 180+ posts, so forgive me if these were already mentioned.
I'd like to see a max salary. I'd rather have everyone at the salary max than continue to see the outrageously high salaries, especially in my custom leagues. Add additional info (such as salary, all fielding positions) to the CSV import/export. That way I could modify all salaries at once instead of having to do it a player at a time. Have a normalize all feature that would let me assign all players the same ratings.

I'd love to have variable umpires and a strike zone rating for each, kinda like what HH used to do, some guys were tight, and some had large zones. I realize in a text sim you can't "see" it, but maybe a rating that increses the chance of a walk, and umpires rotate series like they do in real life.

How about making "Bunt for a Hit" a one pitch option. If I fail in trying to bunt for a hit, I doubt if I will try again with the defense expecting it.

Please get rid of the hard-coded dates for the trading dealine and roster expansion. I play smaller, short-season solo leagues and not being able to manually assign these dates drives me crazy.

OOTP Expansion Pack
Looks like the expansion pack will include some cool stuff, although I was hoping to see a minor league diasabled list.

And you needed to create a new thread for this because?
Perhaps you should have added this to the thread that Markus created for posting suggestions about what to add to the 6.5 expansion pack. |

Learn new position bug
I'd like to see this bug fixed. It involves players not being able to properly learn new positions at the major league level despite being able to in the minors. This has become a pet cause for me and I think my life would finally be complete if I could move a right fielder to left.

Lots and lots of great ideas mentioned in this thread. Here is to add a few of that probably have not been mentioned (I realize that some of them are probably too hard to include now and probably too 'out-there' too. However, I will still include them anyway.).
- (*probably most would like to see feature*) Expand 'show rating > 100' to 'show rating over max scale' so we would have 6+ for 1-5 sacle, 11+ for 1-10 scale, 21+ for 1-20 scale and so on. This would benefit those of us who want to stick to old OOTP rating scale (ability rating @ 1-10 but with 10+ showing not capped) - Ratings color coded in PbP screen (like OOTP4). Have option to display VSL/VSR ratings (depending on opposition pitcher/batter) instead of only displaying general ratings. - In the draft, potential ratings should be included in sortable table as well, not restricted to right-click scouting report. - Starting pitcher will not be tired for the mandantory x days but rather truly depending on the fatigue 'spent'. - Proper line divisions in plyaer history and/or scouting report (like in html report, perhaps). As a player's history can get pretty long. It could sometimes put a strain on the eye trying to find a single entry in the blob. - In-game capability to edit any player stats - similar to what you can do with in-game player editor for ratings. - Spring training: Removal of pitcher 'learn new position' and adding the option to invest 'movement'. This is just for the sake of completeness. - Removal of slow new position learning process at the major league level. At least make it consistent with what happens in minor league (sudden growth). A 80 CF have an initial rating of 4(out 100) in learing how to play LF(new position) seems pretty weird. - Regarding to the 'New player evaluation algorythms', I hope the evaluation on rating part by computer AI is more of a 'true expected/translated performance from ratings/talents' rather than a rigid (non-dynamic) math formula (eg. player value = 0.5 contact * 0.5 power, etc.). As I proposed in other threads, accurate rating translation should help AI make smarter decisions. *If* OOTP can now calculated a more-or-less correct translated/expected performance, it would nice to have it shown to the user as well. - Hysterisis (or make it more so) should be included in computer AI decision making criteria. Instead of a hard cut-off point, have different criteria standards for deciding if the computer AI should change from one phase to another. This is essentially to make computer AI more fuzzy and may reduce the possibility of sign-and-realease and win now-rebuild-win now rapid switching. - expand the trigger event option for email (like new players available on waiver/FA) - abiltiy to modify/counter-offer computer trade request? - oh yeah, it would be pretty nice to have a table explaining the pitch count equivalency of pitcher fatigue. This is something that I still don't have a very good handle of. That's pretty much it for now, I probably have more requests and just couldn't remeber any more. I hope that I am not being too greedy here.

An apology ahead of time if one of these is already mentioned in one of the other 50 pages of the thread.
I would like an addition in the league set-up allowing me to 'point' the game to an outside folder for player photos, sort of like what it now does for individual stadium photos. That way we could have a couple of folders full of photos in one central place, rather than having to copy and paste them into every .lg folder. I would also like to be able to move a player on the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL and have the time he's already spent on the 15-day count towards the 60, rather than needing to move him off and back on after 15 days, which makes it a 75-day. Several times, I've had a player get hurt for 6 or 7 weeks, and put him on the 15-day DL, only to wish I could use his spot on the 40-man roster a few weeks later after 2-3 notes from the team doctor bring his total DL time over the 60 day mark.

How about, when a player is put on waiver list, the owner get an option to set auto-revoke or not (the waiver must be revocable)? So the computer can automatically remove players from waiver for human owners. This feature could help online leagues...

I agree with #2. If you trade for a guy on a Major League roster who is out of options and send him to the minors, he should have to clear waivers. |

I would like to see aging re-done. Each player should have a hidden rating on how well they age. A low rating means they fall hard and early during their early 30's and are done by their mid 30s. A good rating means they go into their 40s with very little change. These are your Bonds, Clemens and Wagners.
