Please lets us know when you do an update. I've enjoyed following the league so far.

seth70 and cknox,

Thanks for your good words...I will post in this thread each time I update the website...which will probably be about every four days...I will soon begin playing my fictional leagues again...this Dynasty thread has taken all my time...it has been three months since I played my two fictional leagues...and I miss them.

Thanks again for your interest in the Alltime Allstar Association.

I will keep you posted.

When I was at your site last night I visited your 'fictional' league sites too (well, one of them--I think Ruthiana was not working) and was amazed at the detail in each city write up. I'll miss having the write ups here in the forum, but am glad I'll still be able to follow All-Time All-Star.

Thanks for the visit.

Only the Alltime Allstar Association is fully functional...Ruthlandia doesn't have the league files up yet...only a couple of pages with the Town History writeups...Tycobbia doesn't have anything yet...the Web Designer has everything to complete it now...Uniforms, Stadiums, Logos, Team Histories and the League files...hopefully it will be completed soon. Apparently, it is a complex site and tough to design.

The town writeups took quite a while to write and develop...but they came out well, I think. It was just hard to create a history for 40 towns and also to come up with something unique about the owners, general managers, managers, fans and the team promotions at each game. Hope some of them aren't too corny for the OOTPB sophisticates.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Only four games played today in MLB...two in each league...the Yankees are still in first place, one game ahead of the Detroit Tigers...fifth place Washington narrowly squeezed by the Bronx Bombers, while the Tigers were devouring the fourth place Brownies.

Over in the NL, the idle Pittsburgh Pirates moved into first place, a half game ahead of the Giants...it was the second longest game in Major League history, a 21 inning affair between the New York Giants and the third place Boston Braves that cost the Giants the lead...and in the other game, seventh place Brooklyn beat the sixth place Phils with a late inning recovery.

All boxscores and league stats can be seen here:

http://www.ecdreamleagues.com/index.php

In Washington, the Senators' Bert Blyleven (4-6 4.32) and Rick Aguilera (4-0 2.78) joined up and held the first place New Yorkers to only six hits as they eked by the Yanks 4 to 3 on a Tony Oliva (.214) ninth inning pinch hit single, that pushed across Gary Gaetti, who had doubled...reliever Sparky Lyle (1-2 2.57) shouldered the loss and Aguilera secured the win...Rod Carew (.345) stroked three hits and Cecil Travis (.291) and Gaetti (.248) provided two hits and one rbi each.

After being dealt a double dose of defeat yesterday, the Detroit Tigers lashed back with a vengeance and crushed St. Louis and one of their aces, Mike Cuellar, 9-2...Sam Crawford (.274) cracked three hits, scored twice and had one rbi...Hal Newhouser (5-3 2.94) was the winning pitcher...Cuellar (7-4 2.76), a seven-game winner lasted only three innings and was the loser...Newhouser even hit the only homer in the game.

It wasn't a MLB record, but it was quite a marathonic struggle that lasted 21 innings...the Braves finally outdid the Giants, 3-2 and knocked them out of first place. a half game out behind the Pirates...with one out Eddie Mathews singled, then Hank Aaron hammered a double down the leftfield line...leftfielder Barry Bonds had a shot at the hustling, but slow-footed Mathews at home, but threw it away and allowed the deciding run...Juan Marichal was masterful...he went the first thirteen innings and struck out eleven...Braves starter Lew Burdette went eight solid frames, followed by fine relief work by Don McMahon for 7 brilliant innings with 8 strikeouts, then Steve Bedrosian for two and the eventual winner Johnny Sain, who hurled the last four innings...Boston pitchers struck out 21 Giant batters in all...about a week ago on May 22, these same Giants nipped the Chicago Cubs 3-2 in the longest Major League game...a record 22 innings.

Brooklyn's pinchhitting Roy Campanella stunned the Vets stadium crowd with a one-out three-run clout off loser Jim Konstanty (3-3 3.97) to give the Dodgers a 5-3 win...starter Don Newcombe (1-3 4.06) got credit for the victory, assisted by ninth inning help from Bob Welch (0-4 5.48), who got his first save of the season. Philadelphia lefty Curt Simmons sizzled for eight innings allowing only four hits and two runs.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Sunday, June 1, 1901

In the American League showdown between the top two teams in the league, they traded 5-1 victories...At Yankee Stadium in the first game Detroit's Jim Bunning (4-3 3.97) and Hank Greenberg (.350) were the whole show...Bunning stifled the Yanks on eight hits and Greenberg doubled and homered to bat in four runs...Whitey Ford (5-4 3.23) was the loser...rightfielder Earl Combs (.358) pulled a muscle and will be out about a week...Mickey Mantle (.270) will replace him in the lineup.

But New York came back in the second game and regained the AL top spot by a game as Lefty Gomez (4-4 2.57) totally shutdown the Tigers on a two-hitter...Derek Jeter (.259) tagged his fifth fourbagger and drove in three runs...Schoolboy Rowe (5-4 3.96) got hung with the loss...this opened up a four-game series that runs through Tuesday.

Third place Chicago was at home against seventh place Cleveland and they split a pair...Bob Feller (4-4 2.56) blanked the White Sox 6-0 on eight hits in the first game with Wilbur Wood (6-3 2.05) taking the loss.

In the nightcap Chisox Magglio Ordonez (.282) and Harold Baines (.244) supplied the home run power with home runs and Ed Cicotte (8-3 3.35) held the Tribe in check until a four run outburst in the ninth in an 8-5 win...It was homer #10 for Ordonez and #3 for Baines...Bob Lemon (3-6 4.56) toiled in defeat for Cleveland...Cicotte tied the Yankees' Ron Guidry for the most wins in the Majors...both have eight.

In Washington, the Senators swept St. Louis, 7-4 and 8-7 in eleven innings to slide by the Browns into fourth place in the standings...It was the Nats third consecutive win and the Browns third loss in a row....The Senators offensive stars in the first game were Tony Oliva (.224), Muddy Ruel (.238) and Goose Goslin (.338)...Oliva tripled in the game-winning run in the eighth...righthander Camilo Pascual (4-4 3.29) posted the victory and Ned Garver (3-3 3.34) chalked up the loss.

In game two, Washington's outstanding fireman did it again...Rick Aguilera (5-0 2.55) twirled three scoreless innings and then took it upon himself to win the game with an eleventh inning walk off home run off of loser Milt Pappas (0-2 8.18)...George Sisler (.352) of the Browns got hits in both games to extend his hitting streak to seventeen games.

In Philly at Shibe Park, the cellar-dwelling Bosox took both ends of the doubleheader from the Athletics, 3-2 and 12-4...Boston's Sammy White doubled in the top of the ninth and scored on Dom DiMaggio's single to take the first game...Smokey Joe Wood (3-3 3.99) fanned eight and went the route for the victory...Reliever Rollie Fingers (1-3 2.60) took the loss...the Red Sox's Moe Vaughan had two hits and two rbis including his second roundtrip job of the season.

Nomar Garciappara (.267) and Ted Williams (.246) were a two-man wrecking crew with 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 rbis in the runaway win...Luis Tiant (1-2 5.94) came on in the third when Roger Clemens arm tightened up and went the rest of the way for the victory...Rube Waddell (2-6 5.60) was kayoed in the fifth and suffered the loss...Boston lost their top hitter, second baseman Johnny Pesky (.326) for about week with a strained back...Bosox Williams (4) and Philadelphia's Jimmie Foxx (6) and Eric Chavez (2) homered in the nightcap.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Sunday, June 1, 1901

In National League play, the first place Pittsburgh Pirates and the second place New York Giants kept pace with one another as they divided their doubleheaders against the Phillies and Reds respectively...The Bucs are still one half game ahead in the race...and the hottest team in baseball, the Boston Braves have now won six straight and have moved to within one game of first place...but they lost pitcher Warren Spahn for seven weeks with a herniated disk.

In Cincinnati, it was a hitter's paradise with 53 hits all total in the two games...Pittsburgh slammed 16 in the first game and was victorious, 11-5...Jason Kendall (.336) had four hits, Honus Wagner (.292) and Roberto Clemente (.299) ripped three hits each and the Pirates hit nine two baggers...Jesse Tannehill (5-4 3.36) was the victor and Bucky Walters (3-6 4.48) absorbed the defeat.

The Redlegs punched out 12 hits as Dave Concepcion (.261) drove in four runs and Frank Robinson (.316) two in the Reds 10-4 romp over the Pirates in game two...Pittsburgh tied an NL record by committing four errors and giving up five unearned runs...Jim Maloney (4-2 3.56) went six for the win with Jose Rijo (0-1 4.05) picking up his fourth save...Pittsburgh's Vic Willis (3-3 3.42) was stuck with the loss, but didn't give up an earned run...Leftfielder Honus Wagner (.296) hurt his back trying to make a shoestring catch and will be out for 1-2 weeks.

At the Polo Grounds, the Giants and the Phils swapped a pair of 2-0 shutouts...reliever Jack Baldschun was needed as a starter by the tired Philadelphia staff and he responded in brilliant fashion with a nine-strikeout three-hit shutout...Christy Mathewson (4-6 3.24) was the tough luck twirler in the opener.

Gaylord Perry (3-4 2.79) hurled a five-hitter to gain the twillbill split, while lefty Steve Carlton (1-8 5.45) fanned nine in six innings and suffered the second game loss.

The redhot Braves won their sixth in a row by taking two from the last place Dodgers...in the opening game of the doubleheader, Wally Berger (.298), Hank Aaron (.285) and Fred McGriff (.219) belted in two runs apiece in a 6-3 triumph...Spahn (5-6 2.80) garnered the win and Burleigh Grimes (1-5 5.48) lost it for Brooklyn.

Game two only had five hits in the game...only two by Boston...but it was enough to win 2-1...Phil Niekro's knuckleball was playing havoc with Dodger hitters as he held them to just three hits, striking out eight and walking six on a windy afternoon at Braves Field...Don Sutton only gave up two hits, but they were back-to-back in the second frame...Javy Lopez singled and Chipper Jones homered.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubbies and the Cardinals each won a game...in the opening game, Moe Brown (6-5 3.15) was particularly outstanding with a fine three-hit 1-0 shutout of St. Louis....He outpitched Mort Cooper (7-4 3.77) for the win...Ernie Banks (.242) singled in Kiki Cuyler, who led off the game with a double...that completed the scoring for that game.

In the second half of the twinbill, it was another well-pitched encounter, the Cards Bob Gibson (5-3 3.35) locked up in a good one with the Cubs Ed Reulbach (3-6 3.86) and bested him 3-2 in 11 innings...Reulbach whiffed eleven Redbirds in the game...Enos Slaughter (.356) tied it up in the ninth with a home run and Tim McCarver (.205) parked one in the tenth to decide it. With the split Chicago moved out of last place into seventh, just ahead of Brooklyn, who lost twice.

Just began playing with injuries...had four the first day.
I had it set to "normal"...hope they slow down a little.

Added Billy Goodman in place of Johnny Pesky for Red Sox.

Added Lloyd Waner in place of Honus Wagner for Pittsburgh.
(Wagner was in leftfield)

Added Bernie Williams in place of Earl Combs for Yankees.

Added Gene Garber in place of Warren Spahn for Braves.
(they need a reliever more than a starter)

ALLTIME ALLSTAR ASSOCIATION

Both leagues were off on Monday.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Tuesday, June 3, 1901

Detroit moved back into a first place tie in the AL with the Yanks...In game three of a four-game series in New York, the Tigers Frank Lary (4-2 3.63) notched his fourth win with a sharp four-hit, nine-strikeout performance over New York, 3-1...Herb Pennock (6-4 3.44) collected the loss...Sam Crawford (.273) doubled, tripled and scored two runs...Ty Cobb (.387), the top hitter in MLB, scored twice...New York's Joe DiMaggio (.286 10 HR) was injured catching a flyball and will be sidelined about a week...Bob Meusel will be added to the roster to replace him...another Yank outfielder Earl Combs (.358) was injured on Sunday and will also miss about a week...in the final game of the series, it will be Tommy Bridges (4-3 3.27) and Mel Stottlemyre (3-2 4.17) on the mound...the Yankee pitching corps is dead tired...that is why long reliever Stottlemyre got the start.

At Comiskey Park, seventh place Cleveland's Mike Garcia (2-1 2.55) whitewashed the third place Chisox 5-0 on a fine seven-hitter...he walked four and fanned four in the outing...Red Faber (0-3 3.61) was shackled with the defeat...Nap Lajoie (.303) was the game's offensive star with three hits, three runs scored and one rbi, including his first homer this year.

In Washington, Senator lefthander Jim Kaat (1-1 4.54) came out of the bullpen in a rare start and performed brilliantly with a 3-0 shutout over the fifth place St. Louis Browns...he gave up only four basehits, no walks and fanned one for the fourth place Nats...Dick McNally (3-4 3.17) was the losing hurler...Kelly Puckett (.210) scored twice and had one rbi with his first home run of the season...Brownie George Sisler (.345) had his seventeen game hitting streak stopped.

And in Philadelphia at a Shibe Park doubleheader, the sixth place A's took the opening contest with Lefty Grove (5-5 3.32) stopping last place Boston, 4-2...Grove (.069) and Rickey Henderson (.261) drove in the decisive runs with seventh inning singles...hot-hitting Eric Chavez (.302) had two rbis...Bosox starter George Ruth (3-6 3.91) was nailed with the loss.

The nightcap was taken by the Bostonians to gain the split...the Red Sox got to Ed Plank for the tiebreaking score in the seventh to nip the A's, 4-3...Frank Malzone (.150) and Joe Cronin (.261) pushed across the game-winning runs...Mo Vaughn (.202) hammered his third homer, while Jimmie Foxx (.266) got number seven and Reggie Jackson (.229) number two for Philadelphia...Carl Mays (3-4 2.70) went six innings for the victory...Dick Radatz (3-0 1.09) and Mel Parnell (2-2 4.30) finished up with Parnell getting his second save...the Athletics lost second baseman Jimmy Dykes for a few days...he hurt his arm throwing the ball and will be replaced by Danny Murphy, who was called up.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Tuesday, June 3, 1901

Both of the top two teams in the league lost...first place Pittsburgh fell to fifth place Cincinnati on the road and the second place Giants lost at home to the sixth place Phillies.

Reds lefty Eppa Rixey (2-0 3.40) kept nine hits spaced out and put away the Pirates, 5-1...he walked three and whiffed two to pickup the victory...the Pirates Deacon Phillippe (6-4 2.47) was his victim...Bret Boone (.276) was the Bucs top gun with a two-run shot into the bleachers.

The Phils Pete Alexander (6-3 2.44) was really on target today, blanking the Giants on a six hitter, 4-0...outpitching Carl Hubbell (6-3 2.48)...Chuck Klein (.307) smacked two hits including his sixth roundtripper, scored two and drove in two runs...Del Ennis (.285) added two hits, including a double and an rbi...Phillies second sacker Fresco Thompson developed a stiff shoulder and will be out a week...Pinky Whitney was signed and will fill in for him.

Brooklyn's Mike Piazza (.310) supplied the firepower and Orel Hershiser (5-2 2.10) the pitching power as the Dodgers subdued the redhot third place Boston Braves at Braves Field, 6-2...Piazza socked in five runs with three hits, which included a double and a three-run salvo...Hershiser was touched for nine hits, struckout nine and walked three...Johnny Sain (1-2 3.88) was the loser...the defeat was costly for the Braves...they could have moved into a first place tie with a win...they had won their last six games...Boston called up relief specialist Gene Garber to fill a roster slot for injured starter Warren Spahn, who could be out for six weeks...the Braves have plenty of starters and needed help in the bullpen.

At Wrigley Field in Chicago, the Cubs cooled off the St. Louis Cardinals with a twin beating, 4-3 and 8-4...as they say in baseball, "it ain't over til it's over"...the Cubs proved this old adage by tying it up 3-3 in the ninth when it looked like Dizzy Dean was going beat them...but the tired Dean ran out of gas and gave up the tying runs, when Kiki Cuyler (.260) doubled in two runs...then in the tenth Hack Wilson (.281) doubled off losing pitcher Todd Worrell (4-4 2.52) and scored the winning run on a two base error by centerfielder Chick Hafey, who dropped a deep flyball hit by Ernie Banks...Cuyler almost hit for the cycle as he also tripled and homered...he totalled three rbis...Lon Warneke (1-3 4.50) got his first win with one perfect inning in relief.

In game two, backed by a solid offensive display, Cub righthander Ferguson Jenkins delivered an 8-4 victory over St. Louis...Chicago's fourteen hit attack was led by two circuit blasts by Hack Wilson (.284)...he now has hit seven... and four hits by Cuyler (.272) and three by Bill Dahlen (.333)...Ernie Banks (.241) sent one out of the ballpark, too...this was number 11 for him, second in the NL behind Frank Robinson of Cincy, who has 12...Banks is second in rbis, too...trailing Robinson 43 to 37...John Tudor (4-1 2.53) suffered his first loss of the year...Johnny Mize (.313) slammed homer number seven for the Redbirds.

Only six games played today in the Majors...Detroit took three of four from the Yankees and moved into first place in the Ameican League by a full game...fourth place Washington swept fifth place St. Louis in a four game set and now have won five straight...the Brownies have dropped their last five... third place Chicago whipped seventh place Cleveland and gained a split in their series...and the sixth place Athletics and celler-dwelling Red Sox were idle.

In the National League first place Pittsburgh nipped fifth place Cincinnati to stay one up on the second place New York Giants...the Polo Grounders kept pace by narrowly beating sixth place Philadelphia...last place Brooklyn bumped off the third place Boston Braves...and fourth place St. Louis and seventh place Chicago had the day off.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMERICAN LEAGUE

Detroit 14 New York 4...The Tigers tamed the Yanks in series finale in New York...Detroit crushed them with a seventeen hit onslaught and returned to the league's top position...Hank Greenberg (.352) and Harry Heilmann (.292) each clouted a roundtripper and a double and drove in five run apiece...Greenberg is now tops in MLB with 47 rbis...Heilmann is third with 43...righthander Tommy Bridges improved to 5-3 and a 3.09 ERA as he held the Bronx Bombers in check on just six hits...new call-up Bob Meusel (.500) got his first homer for New York...Ron Guidry (8-2 3.93) took the loss and was shelled for six runs in five innings...Detroit is now one game up on New York in the AL race.

Washington 5 St. Louis 1...It was the Senators fifth straight win...Sam Rice (.275) and Corey Koskie (.239) each doubled and singled to pace the Nats against the Browns...Rice drove in a pair...Dutch Leonard (5-3 3.00) surrendered only seven hits in the complete game win over Mike Mussina (6-3 2.80)...St. Louis has lost their last five encounters.

Chicago 2 Cleveland 1...Faulty fielding was the culprit and cost the visting Indians the game at Comiskey Park...in the seventh reliever Doug Jones mishandled Frank Thomas' grounder and allowed Luke Appling (.302) to score from third...shortstop Joe Sewell's second inning error accounted for the other run...Ed Walsh (5-4 3.11) went the distance and stopped Cleveland on seven hits...Early Wynn (4-5 3.48) gave up no earned runs in six innings and left with the score tied at 1-1...Jones (1-4 2.45) got the loss.

LOUIS 6 - DETROIT 2...At Bill Veeck Stadium in St. Louis, the fifth place Browns got a fine start out of ace reliever Hoyt Wilhelm (5-3) as he baffled the Tigers on eight hits and snapped their five game losing streak...the Browns Vern Stephens (.283) slammed a solo home run and drove in two runs with two hits and scored twice...Sam West (.251) collected three hits and George Sisler (.342) and Ken Williams (.267) both went 2-4...Detroit's Hank Greenberg (.361) was a perfect 3 for 3 with his eleventh home run and two rbis...he upped his MLB-leading rbi total to 49...Wilhelm put a lot of runners on base as he also walked five, but the first place Tigers couldn't cash in on him...Virgil Trucks was ineffective and lost his first game of the season...he is now 7-1.

CHICAGO 6 - PHILADELPHIA 0...In Philly, the third place Chisox Joe Horlen (4-2) really zeroed in on the sixth place Athletics with a stellar six-hit shutout...he struck out nine and walked only two and lowered his ERA to 2.45...second in the AL to teammate Wilbur Wood's 2.05...Catfish Hunter (3-4) took the loss...Frank Thomas (.298) pounded out three hits and three rbis...he is second in the league to Detroit's Greenberg with 47 rbis...Luke Appling (.310) contributed three hits and scored a couple of runs...and Eddie Collins (.339) added a pair of base knocks, scored one and drove in one.

CLEVELAND 2 - BOSTON 1...In a battle of the two worst teams in the AL, seventh place homestanding Cleveland squeaked by last place Boston on a game-deciding balk by hardluck loser, Pedro Martinez...he had a two-hit shutout until the ill-fated seventh...a walk, two singles by Nap Lajoie (.303) and Tris Speaker (.332) and a balk cost him another game...he is now 1 and 10 on the year...Addie Joss (4-6) gained the win with a nice seven inning stint and Don Mossi (0-0) was awarded his third save with scoreless eighth and ninth innings as he protected the 2-1 lead.
