youve played two seasons and are complaining about bad luck after losing in the playoffs once?

If you read my post I am quite clearly not complaining. The system makes sense and I understand it fully. It just feels like I'll never get there regardless of how good my team could be. It feels to me like if you have .700+ win pct your team is a bit advanced for the level. Complaining? No. Discouraged? Maybe.
The easiest way to put it would to be I would rather be in a competitive level for my team and stay put with a .500 win%. That seems natural. I don't want to absolutely dominate bronze for six-15 seasons. I'd much rather have to work for my wins. Bottom line...I care about the regular season, not so much the playoffs. Bass akwards I know, but it's how I like to play. So my challenge is W-L, not championships. Hence, I feel like I'm stuck in easy mode with no way out now. |

Just keep collecting points until you do break through after a few more upgrades and you'll have plenty of challenge. |

Way to overstate it. Not trolling. Giving honest feelings. Did I not get the memo that says that's not allowed?
I like a challenge in the regular season. Since I work weekends there is quite literally nothing I can do to win the playoffs. I have to "set it and forget it". But during the week I have time to make changes and see those changes help. Therefore, I prefer getting my enjoyment from the game based on regular season factors. I never even hinted that the game was too easy. In fact, just a few posts previous I even stated that I have a long way to go. So, who's the one trolling? Hypocrisy much? |

"I lost the playoffs once therefore it's impossible to win and my luck is horrible" is just a really silly statement, which is why people think you are trolling.
If you are not, my advice would be just hang in there. If you are consistently making the playoffs then you will eventually have good luck in those short series and get promoted. It generally takes a few weeks, that's just how odds work. 10 teams make the playoffs and if only 2 get promoted...well do the math. It might take 5 weeks on average. |

Something to keep things in perspective Findest2001; there are 13,314 teams now in PT and all of them have, or are, experiencing everything you are - your not alone. The guys (or girls) that throw money at the game will rise faster, but the game lasts 52 weeks, so there's a lot of time to climb the ladder - that's the equivalent of 52 years of baseball. The point is to enjoy the trip.

Fair statement. I promise I'm not trolling. I really do have terrible luck so I don't see much hope in the playoffs, but whatever it's just a game. Not meant to complain as much as have a discussion. Thanks again everyone for the help. No trolling intended if it comes off that way. I aim to have fun in the game, nothing more.

I appreciate the encouragement. It's just hard to feel good about a 100+ W season if it didn't accomplish anything. My main point more than anything is that it feels overly harsh for the promotion requirements out of 25+ team leagues (i honestly don't know how big they are...30 teams?) are that you have to make it to the world series to be considered a success. IRL there's only like 5 teams that think that way. Every other team considers a successful season just making the playoffs. Again, I'm not saying I disagree playoffs have weight, I just think requiring one to make the world series in order to advance is a bit much...unless you're the Yankees. They could even make it so that each level gets harder to get promoted from. Like Bronze everyone who makes the playoffs goes to silver. In silver if you win a round you go to gold. In gold if you go 2+ rounds you advance. Then to make the final level you must win the world series. In conclusion, requiring a world series appearance to make it out of Bronze level seems...a bit much. Last edited by Findest2001; 03-12-2019 at 05:37 PM. Reason: wording |

Then I'm clearly not understanding the whole system, then. Sincerely, thanks for being patient in my ignorance.
I guess I just got into it far too late to really matter. Am I at least correct in assuming Bronze is the hardest level to get out of of? It's the entry league essentially, and I'm looking at teams that have all gold players who have close to .750 winning percentages, and my .617 makes me third currently. And since EVERYONE has to go through bronze to get to higher levels, then it stands to reason that I will be facing a share of silver, gold, and diamond-level clubs in bronze because they bought points, got relegated, or have just been playing for 25 weeks worth of PP. What I've taken 200 posts worth of discussion to try and get across is this: is it possible even with an awesome team that I can be stuck in bronze for like 15 weeks or more? 15 is arbitrary. It could be any number longer than a few. I already feel like my team could at least compete (i.e. .500 ball) in silver, but I guarantee with my temperament I will not have fun with the game if weeks and weeks from now I'm still toiling in bronze after I've invested hours and hours and tons of PP and basically get nowhere. I enjoy the tinkering and the competition, but I at least want to progress. And to me being in bronze 10 weeks from now isn't progressing. And I really do apologize about my inability to get my point across without sounding like a troll. Thank you to everyone who has had patience with me thus far. And here's the kind's of teams I've been facing in bronze: Last edited by Findest2001; 03-12-2019 at 06:29 PM. Reason: apologies |

just one more example
This guys doesn't have an SP lower than 85. And most of his hitters are gold. And he's NEVER left bronze...

I take it you clicked on the iron players on the reserve roster and they were played 4 to 5 games every year to come to that conclusion? |

Not all, but quite a few. It's a full reserve so checking all would have taken too long. I reported them just in case. I never thought I would report someone before, but I can't see it being possible for a team of that caliber to have been in bronze this long. It's one thing for a very good team to be in bronze, but this dude is what I would imagine gold or higher might look like. Several 99's, a 100, almost the rest all gold-level. Yet never left bronze? I hope I'm wrong and it's just terrible luck on his part, but teams like his make it impossible for others to compete. And it's level 1 we're talking about here. |

Findest2001,
Your quote; "but I guarantee with my temperament I will not have fun with the game if weeks and weeks from now I'm still toiling in bronze after I've invested hours and hours and tons of PP and basically get nowhere." I honestly think if your going to enjoy PT, your going to have to reconsider your temperament. I spent 3 years in Bronze and made it to the playoffs 3 years in a row - losing in the first two. Even so, I managed to make my team better each year. My record was 116-46, 117-45, and 120-42. Read my Dynasty posts; Sure - I was frustrated, but I kept at it and finally got to Silver my 4th season. I just think your going to have to find some enjoyment in the challenge itself, or your constantly going to be upset about what you aren't getting (promotions).

The thing is...my team is getting worse. MUCH worse. Mainly because (take a look at the 2 sets of pictures I posted about 5 posts ago, give or take). My first season I was all excited I was doing well. Got to playoffs, almost got to WS. Since then? Losing record, and facing teams with AVERAGE cards higher than my HIGHEST CARD. I truly believe my team is better, but the competition is getting significantly stronger each season. |
