Montreal Expos (22-12) at St Louis Cardinals (21-13)


The Expos come into St Louis with a slim 1 game lead in the NL East over the Cardinals. This 3 game set is important to ensure the Expos continue to remain contenders. There are 37,838 in the stands as St Louis will start RHP Jonathan Campbell, the 26 year old is 2-0 with a 2.73 ERA in 6 starts. Campbell was the Cardinals 1st round, 3rd overall pick in the 1971 draft. In 1974 he was named the MLB's #1 prospect. Montreal Expos (22-13) at St Louis Cardinals (22-13)


As the fight for 1st place continues, tonight 40,061 Cardinals fans will be cheering on LHP Juan Maravilla. The 26 year old is 2-2 with a 2.68 ERA in 6 starts. Maravilla was originally the property of the Dodgers in 1969, he was traded to the Cardinals in November 1972. He was later named the MLB's #8 prospect in April 1973. Montreal Expos (22-14) at St Louis Cardinals (23-13)


The Expos will try to avoid getting swept and fall 2 games back of the Cardinals but will have to beat a familiar foe, RHP Aaron Cregg. The 31 year old spend much of 5 seasons in Expos colours before getting traded during the 1973 deadline. Cregg is 3-3 with a 2.70 ERA in 7 starts this season. Cregg was an original Expos in 1969 before getting traded to the Padres in a deal that had SP Jamari Taft coming to Montreal. Cregg signed a 6 year deal with the Cardinals for the 1974 season. Montreal will start LHP Eric Stuart, the 31 year old is 2-3 with a 3.50 ERA in 7 starts. Stuart is another original Expos. There are 46,562 fans in the seats.

Taft was the Padres 1st round, 6th overall pick in the 1971 draft. Taft was ranked the #7 prospect in the MLB in April 1973. He was traded to Montreal in July 1973 for Expos star Aaron Cregg. The Expos have another nice crowd of just over 35,000 to watch the Expos face the Reds. RHP Eric Marks will start for Montreal, the 27 year old is 5-2 with a 2.64 ERA in 9 starts. The NL scored runs in the bottom of the 8th and 9th innings to overcome the AL's only run scored in the 1st.


New York Mets LF Doug Stowe was named the MVP for the All Star Game, he was 1 for 2 with a HR and RBI. Stowe entered the game in the 6th inning as a PH. The 25 year old is hitting .293 with 9 HRs and 28 RBIs in 45 games. Last season Stowe hit .233 with 14 HRs and 48 RBIs in 82 games for the Mets.

Montreal Expos (31-17) at San Diego Padres (23-24)

Pittsburgh Pirates (25-24) at Montreal Expos (31-18)


Montreal have just over 35,000 fans in the stands to watch RHP Javier Trevino face RHP Larry Howell.
