Well I'm not trolling and feel free to check my post history and talk to anyone about who I am. While no woman has played in the big leagues they have played in others. This game offers support for fictional universes. I think having the option to include women in one of your leagues, or create an all female league, or crate a softball based universe falls in line with aspects this game offers. i see someone shared some amazing facegens for female players, awesome. Even if the developers don't have time to build it into the game, perhaps officially endorsing that kind of independent work and pointing to it in the manual would be the way to go. Also a since the names databases are all men something similar with names can be done.

I'll add one more thing. This a a SUGGESTIONS for the game forum. It is not labeled "Tell Us What To Put In The Game Next." The developers don't have to do it, and haven't promised to. They can read it and then ignore it, as can anyone else.

Look at it this way, with a few mods and additions, someday the game could double as Out of the Park Softball as well ;-D
You know you could make a facegen for her and edit her height and weight.

Anytime you add a new name to the players in game, that name will show up later on in drafts. i have 3 players named Dottie including the original Dottie Hinson, which is the only one i have changed and there are the many unisex names like Robin, Ashley & Brook.

How does the game handle it in articles though?

Do you mean how does it handle articles about the players? If you look at the articles, most of the time the players are links to their player page, so it will display whatever their correct name is. If you're asking if it will say "she" instead of "he", I would guess it would still say "he" because that is probably coded into the game like that since (unlike user players), the actual players in OOTP do not have a gender.

Absolutely no females. Have a league for them, fine but I don't want them in the MLB and it's minors.

I support this idea because I am under the full impression that my 3 year old girl will be the first female to play baseball in the MLB. She's got a great arm, just got to work on her swing... Just make it a checkbox so the haters can hate

Infractions: 0/1 (3)
it's jsut a choice like having international leagues on or not... or restricting nationality (which to some seems quite xenophobic and rightfully so) .. but if someone wants to do that, it doesn't hurt anyone by having that function in the game. probably want to self-evaluate how you perceive different cultures and people, though, lol.

or in a more reasonable cause -- an ewok league -- LoL you gotta make sure they are all ewoks right?

at least one woman has been listed on the amatuer list of genuine prospects eligible for the draft. i want to say from netherlands and plays SS? may not be around anymore either, but her name was available to scouts and could have been drafted etc.

in a sport like baseball, it would take a certain specific context... maybe a knuckleballer etc. a context where physical traits are minimized. they will never be a power hitter, though. an obp leadoff or good enough in the field to bat 9th? maybe? certainly couldn't rule it out with ~4billion women in the world.

some generations were completely sperated and i guess i can udnerstand the vitriol displayed by the people of those bygone eras, but that's not the case anymore.. genders mingle at an earlier age and in meaningful ways compared to just a a couple generations ago. the cultural differences are getting smaller and woman and men arean't as segregated as they once were..

all-male clubs, like augusta noational, are kinda lame. who wants a saussage party? it's like an episode of the little rascals. do they sit aorund in a circle and smoke their pipes? LoL

try to watach the potential women astronauts form the 60's deal with condescending reporters and the ridiculous quesitons they asked as if gender was relevant to being an astronaut in any way shape or form. just an article showing the existed.. think a documentary is being released sometime soon or is out etc. wher you can hear some of the nonsense they had to put up with.. and keep a smile on their face, ffs.

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart...60s-180963704/

focusing on gender as a way to divide people is silly. let results dictate even if it isn't likely, it is possible and will happen if given enough time... that truly is guaranteed.

he%%, babe diedrickson (? spelling) could beat alot of men at many sports. we have an example already. those sports had a very low participation rate, but still true had they allowed her to compete.. (e.g. golf was not played by the masses, and she was better than a lot of entitled rich dudes)

tennis? only if you put a woman in her prime against a 50+ year old male that smokes and drinks daily. some sports rely on physical traits more than others...

women do have some physical advantages over men... if a lower center of gravity is the primary reason for success in some future sport, they'd likely have an advantage...

want to test it out?

go lean over ~60degrees or so at the waist and try to pick up any ~10lbs object with just your arms... a dude will fall on his face no matter how strong your upper-body is, while just about any woman can do it with ease.

unless a male is unusually shaped like a pear, which can happen in some extreme cases of obesity.

Chauvinism was more commonplace in that era. so it ought not be that surprising. But things have changed a lot since then.

In regards to U.S. female astronauts specifically, there weren't any until much later.

Some might like to claim that was due to chauvinism, but it had much more to do with the nature of the job at that time. The first astronaut groups in the U.S. were drawn from military test pilots. Why? Because test pilots were used to operating in new and potentially dangerous craft, reacting immediately to unexpected circumstances. Their military background (typically involving flying in combat) meant there were accustomed to high-stress situations and the possibility of death. And the early space program was certainly a highly risky endeavour. There were several close calls that could have ended in death but which fortunately didn't. As it was, three U.S. astronauts were killed during training prior to their missions, and there was also the Apollo I fire.

As to the Russians, from what I understand of Tereshkova's flight, her performance had some issues. Many at the time regarded her mission as primarily a propaganda one.

I wouldn't ever agree with anything stupid and antiquated. Andyeah generally I find that hating. And needing women in their place isn't "adult" its weak. And all that said, again this is a "Suggestions for the Game" forum. Nothing more. But sure lets have a sociological discussion that having a woman under you is fine, but next to you side by side if they've earned it, not so much.

Of course they can play the sport. That's not the question. The question is: how many women have the necessary physical strength, skill, and unquenchable competitive fire to make it to the major league level? The answer is: very, very, very few. Remember, a large number of men try to make it into major league baseball, and only a small fraction ever do (about one in ten of those drafted, and most of those who do make only last a short time). It is an intensely competitive environment. We are talking about the top tier elite. And when you compare top top elite male athletes to top tier female athletes, well, biology is harsh and doesn't care about feelings or politics or notions of fairness.

Look at something as basic as height. The average U.S. man is about 5'10"; the average major league player, over 6'1".

The percentage of American men aged 20-29 who are 5'10" or taller: 41.4%. The percentage of American women aged 20-29 who are 5'10" or taller: 2.4%. That's 17 times more men than women, a huge difference in the pool of possible candidates. Go up one more inch in height. The percentage of American men aged 20-29 who are 5'11" or taller: 29.3%. The percentage of American women aged 20-29 who are 5'11" or taller: 0.4%. That's 73 times as many men. And that's just height.

Athletic competition, especially in professional sports, is being driven by relentless physical Darwinism. The athletes are getting bigger and stronger every year. That biological arms race is a huge impediment to women trying to compete professionally with men in the same sport.

Might a woman out there in the future have what it takes to make the major leagues? Sure. It's entirely possible. But she is going to be incredibly rare.

Acknowledging the huge uphill battle women face in terms of the physical differences is not sociological; it's biological reality. You can peruse any number of databases recording the physical differences in height, weight, upper body strength, etc., you can compare the results from men and women competing in the same athletic and Olympic events, that verify the biological reality.

All of which says nothing about a woman not being able to earn it. Undoubtedly there are a very few who probably could, and they'd deserve every recognition for their achievement. But that's the point: the number of such women is vanishingly small. (Again, the number of men who earn it is small itself.)

First there are plenty of men's leagues for men who can't compete with major leaguers. Their biology lacks too. From bellies to being shirt to throwing 52 MPF fastballs. But on the real. No offense intended, but I never really cared. I didn't come here for this. I clicked on a suggestion for the game that I thought might be neat. Have we forgotten that in the end this site is about a game? A CUSTOMIZABLE GAME. And this area of the site is for suggestions about that game.I didn't come here to take Cultures and Values again. My wife would love this feature, she's been helping me on a SABR project. She got to meet some AAGPB players during this. That's what I came here for. but you can't go ANYWHERE anymore without this breaking out. It's tiring. We all know what I'm talking about. Type "I wouldn't use it" and move on. Instead someone like me who innocently clicked gets inundated in this nonsense.

Let me break this down real simple. Even if Markus and crew include this in the game. I know they are all real smart guys, and they will add a feature that will help with everyone who wouldn't like this and their concerns. I know zilch about computer programming, but I can guarantee 100% it will be there, and its easy to program. They've utilized it before. It's called THE ABILITY TO TURN IT OFF, and not use it. The way I don't use the DH. So if they add it, turn it off and ignore it.

Well, if a woman were to ever break into a man's sport baseball would probably be the one. Basketball... hell no, football... of course not, hockey... double hell no. To be honest, I don't ever see it happening by proving themselves alone. What about MMA? First ever man vs woman UFC match... lol
