1908 NBC Wild Card Game 2
St Louis Lions (11-5) @ Michigan Wolverines (11-5)
It wasn't a walk off win for the Wolverines, but it was a game in which the Wolverines walked 15 times as they beat the Lions 12-4. Jose Chaves, Frank Law, Larry Evans, and Jacob Michael, the Wolverines 1-4 hitters, combined to walk 11 times in the game. It was that kind of day for 19 year old Smoky Joe Wood, the Lions' starter who set a playoff record with 10 walks, which he did in just 4 innings. Ed Walsh got his first career postseason win for the Wolverines today with a complete game. Jacob Michael was named Player of the Game after going 1-2 at the plate with 3 walks, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. |

1908 ABC Division Round Game 1
Los Angeles Bombers (10-8) @ New York Titans (11-5)
Two years ago the Bombers faced off against the Tians in a Division Round Game there the Titans defeated the upstart Bombers. The Bombers would get a chance at revenge today. With Stan Covelski pitching to the leadoff batter in the bottom of the first he threw his fifth pitch of the inning, then left the game with a shoulder injury. Bernardo Martines would enter the game in relief, and would quickly allow 3 runs. It was too much for the Bombers to overcome as the Titans would add 1 run in the fourth and 3 runs in the seventh to win 7-3. Adalberto Doll was playing in just his second game since returning from injury, but it was hard to tell. At the plate Doll was 4-5 with 2 runs scored. It was also Dan Swanson's second game back, and he was 2-5 at the plate with an RBI and run scored. With Doll and Swanson back in the lineup, and Erik Crawford striking out 14 the Titans have got to be the favorites in the ABC. |

1908 ABC Division Round Game 2
Orlando Wizards (8-8) @ San Diego Sailors (10-6)
The 8-8 Wizards were on the road taking on the San Diego Sailors, trying to continue their postseason run. That run would come to an end today though as the Sailors scored 10 runs on 11 hits to beat the Wizards 10-3. David Griffin may be 38 years old, but his career has been rejuvenated since being traded from the Muskies to the Sailors in the offseason. Griffin hit a career high .394 with a career high and league leading 6 home runs and 20 RBI. From 1900-1907 Griffin had 2 career WAR, while this season he had 1.2 WAR. Today Griffin was named Player of the Game after going 3-3 with a home run and 5 RBI. Ty Cobb added 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Sailors while 41 year old Felix Nuno won his first career postseason game. |

1908 ABC Championship Game
San Diego Sailors (10-6) @ New York Titans (11-5)
Erik Crawford turned in a dominant start for 8 shutout innings, striking out 10 batters and the Titans entered the ninth inning leading 2-0, compliments of a two run homer by Walt Gordon. Crawford took the mound for the ninth and allowed back to back singles by Rick Steward and Ty Cobb, with Steward scoring on a throwing error to cut the Titans lead in half. With no outs that brought Crawford's night to a close, but Alejandro Lopez couldn't stop the bleeding for the Titans, giving up a double to David Griffin, walking two batters, and a single to Miguel Angel Nieves, which gave the Sailors a 4-2 lead. Felix Nuno headed back out for the bottom of the ninth and the 41 year old retired the Titans in order to head to the Championship Game, picking up his second win of the postseason after allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, and winning Player of the Game. |

I'm curious to see if the Bombers finally turn to Walter Johnson as their starting pitcher, in an effort to get over the edge. |

1908 World Championship Game
San Diego Sailors (10-6) @ Arizona Wildcats (13-3)
Pedro Rodriguez improved his career playoff record to 10-2 with a 3.69 ERA as the Wildcats won their first Championship in their history. While it was the Wildcats first Championship, Rodriguez won a Championship while pitching for the Longhorns in 1901. Today Rodriguez was named Player of the Game after tieing his playoff record of 16 strikeouts in a game that he set last week. Jorge Vidro, Jarod Gillett, Jose Garcia, and Joe Walsh all went deep for the Wildcats in their 7-5 win, handing Felix Nuno the loss. All of the Sailors runs came via the long ball with David Griffin and Agustin Nunez each hitting two run homers, and Jorge Rivera adding a solo homer. |

1908 - .400 Club
Shoeless Joe Jackson is still just a 19 year old rookie, but made an immediate impact, hitting .433 for the season. At the opposite end of the spectrum was 35 year old Pedro Angel who hit .400 for the first time of his career, hitting .436. In his eight previous seasons Angel hit a career high .316. 22 year old Shano Collins of the Pittsburgh Rivercats hit .404 this year, joining the .400 club for the first time in his career. Last year Collins hit just .217. Teammate Robbie Mitchell hit exactly .400. The 26 year old hit .396 last season. Elton Thompson is not a typical rookie. Thompson spent 8 seasons in the Blue's minor leagues before an offseason trade to the Blues, where Thompson started at catcher as a rookie, and debuted hitting exactly .400. Joe Walsh of the Wildcats joined the .400 club for the first time in his career, hitting .429. Walsh's previous high was .333 which he did three separate seasons. |
