Game 7
They say the hardest championship to win is the first one. It took 7 games to do it, but the PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS are the FIRST WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!! Watty Lee started the game and pitched very well, but after giving up consecutive base hits in the 6th, i decided to bring in Bob Wicker. He shut them down masterfully and finished the game earning the win. Davy Jones got 2 big RBI in this game and helped us to the 3-2 championship win at Columbia Park. PHA wins series 4-3

1901 World Series Review
What a way to start the dynasty. With a world series ring. The Brooklyn Superbas gave us all that they had and i had to admit, they almost took it from us. But the better team DID win this championship and im very proud of them. Ed Delahanty is a no-brainer for the World Series MVP. He batted .387 with 1 HR and knocked in 9 RBI. He had a .613 SLG!!! Awesome!!! So...with this championship...this concludes my command of the Philadelphia Athletics. NYY#23 will be picking my next team to take command and i know that is going to be a LOT harder than the Athletics. I will have his choice before i do the 1902 Draft. So everyone...get out of your seats and say congratulations to... THE 1901 PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS!!! WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!

1902 Pre Season
1902 Draft
The New York Giants are not in the worst of shape. They picked 5th in the draft and i selected Harry Bemis. Hes a catcher, but hes going to 1B. I picked up Jimmy Sebring to play RF and i know he is gonna make some noise in the next few years. Players like Addie Joss went to the Beaneaters and Johnny Evers went to the Americans. I think i selected players for the needs of this team i now have taken over.

I love it when another team wants to make a trade for a player i just drafted.
Means i made a good pick. I told the Boston Americans to go drink some tea. I did make a quick trade for Tom McCreery however. He is awesome as a 1B...but since i drafted Harry Bemis to play there...McCreery is going to RF! I gave up Jack McCarthy to the Reds for this one.

There were some changes to the MLB structure this year.
The Milwaukee Brewers ran out of beer in Wisconsin. So, they sobered up and moved to another beer city to get drunk...St. Louis...to become the St. Louis Browns! The Cleveland Blues decided that Blue wasnt their color...so they thought that maybe being named after a horse was a good idea. The players renamed the team the Cleveland Broncos! The PP have us finishing 5th in the NL, but with a winning record. Remember, my friends, the PP had the Philadelphia Athletics finishing dead last in the AL last year. How did that turn out? Well.. we are all set for the new year and my 1st with this team. So...everyone step right up and say hello to... THE 1902 NEW YORK GIANTS!!!

Like i said...this team has some talent.
Whether or not we can get to the playoffs in the first year, im not sure about that. Jim Hughes went down with an injury and he will be lost for three months. Im gonna go to the 3 man rotation for the time being. We started 4-5 for the year and are currently 2 back of the league lead. Very early of course. I have a lineup with some pop in the bat. Tom McCreery, Sam Mertes and Mike Grady are off to good starts. Lets see how they pan out and that will give me an idea for the next 5 years.

May was a tough month.
Red Donahue went down with an injury and im not sure for how long. I decided to make a trade because with Red out, im down to TWO starting pitchers. I traded 1B Frank Isbell to the White Sox for MR Rube Kisinger. Isbell was a good player...but i really didnt have room for him. Kisinger is an up and coming pitcher who is a starter although listed as a reliever. We went 13-14 for May and we are 8 GB of the NL lead and 4 GB out of a playoff spot. This team has potential and i still think we can have a good season.

Well...making the trade for Rube Kisinger turned out to be the thing to do because i lost Red Donahue for the year.
I traded Aleck Smith, a player who hasnt seen any playing time for Otto Hess to bolster the bullpen a little. In the Deadball Era, any pitching helps. He has some good talent and i needed a left hander in the bullpen. Jimmy Sebring came back from injury and he will help the lineup. We had a 12-14 month of June and trail the NL by 11.5 games and we are 5.5 games out of the playoffs. This team is very injury plagued, but maybe we can have a good 2nd half of the season.

On a positive note, Sam Leever was NL POTM.

Steve Brodie wanted some more playing time.
I said to him, "Please look at your stats and then get back to me." Havent heard from him since.

My ex-team, the Philadelphia Athletics, wanted to give me Jesse Burkett for Ed Doheny or Jay Hughes.
I really had no place for Burkett, because Tom McCreery was doing very well in LF. And i needed to keep my starting pitching because i really didnt have enough to begin with here in New York. So i rejected both trades. However, at the trade deadline, i traded Daff Gammons to the Boston Beaneaters, who didnt have a single at bat in this season for Jim Hackett. Hackett is another strong bullpen reliever and i felt i could get some use out of him.

Rube Kisinger was rookie of the month for July.
Very proud of the kid. He will be something in his future. July was a good month as we went 15-10 and are now only two games below .500 and are also only 2 games out of 3rd place. Ed Doheny is my best pitcher at this time. I have a lot of good players on this lineup, but to me, Tom McCreery is the one who stands out with his power hitting.

August 1902
Another good month for the New York Giants as we go 14-10 for August to be only 1 game back of 3rd place Philadelphia.
Being two games above .500 is another good thing as we now swing into crunch time. One month left. Can the Giants make the postseason? Will my team be able to handle the pressure? Will Kisinger win another award? Will i have cream and sugar in my coffee tomorrow? Oh...my bad...thinking about coffee again. (To be continued)

September 1902
Since i was a fan of Watty Lee from the Philadelphia Athletics and Steve Brodie was getting on my nerves, i did a waiver trade.
Watty Lee will do fine in RF, but i think i might use him as a pitcher for next season. We made it close and was at one point in 3rd place, but we just couldnt keep it going and we fell just a little short of the playoffs. We went 14-12 and finished just 2 GB of the Philadelphia Phillies. I am very proud of these guys, and i know we have a team to build on for 1903. So, we prepare for the offseason and the 1902 Draft. Lets see who we can get that will get this team to the playoffs.
