Season Pitching Leaders

  • "Smokey Joe Williams" - In a 1952 survey conducted by the Pittsburgh Courier, he out-polled Satchel Paige by a single vote, 20-19, as the all-time best pitcher in the Negro Leagues.
  • Louis Drucke - He came to the majors in 1909 right out of Texas Christian University, and was hailed as a brilliant find on the part of New York Giants manager John McGraw.
  • Jim St. Vrain - He had an excellent ERA in his one year in the major leagues.
