MBBA has one opening.

Exciting news for anyone who is easily excited, the MBBA has an opening. We are located at http://www.mbba.ootp-online.com/ and our forums can be found at http://www.mbba.ootp-online.com/ipbforums/ so stop on by.

We are a fictional league with some historic players. We started in 1973 and we are now in the 1984 season. There are 24 teams in 6 divisions. As I said, we are fictional, but every year a number of defectors from the MLB enter the free agent pool. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask or even better, come visit us and take a look at Honolulu, the open team.

This is one of the elite fictional leagues in our community. Honolulu has some history as well, being the 1st championship team in MBBA History (1973).

We have a unique twist which brings in a few defectors and youngsters from MLB each season, as well as being ownership being able to write up/create fictional ammy players to be put into the draft.

We emphasize writing on the forums and activity, using a Participation Point system.

Sims are held promptly 3 times a week (10/10/10-11).

Come over to our forums now and join the fun!

I have been in the league from almost the beginning (I joined midway throw 1973), and to this day remains my favorite OOTP league I have ever seen or been a part of. The team available is one with a lot of history and in a very competitve division, and is perfect for an active owner.

Everyone seems to agree that fictional leagues are the best, but no one wants to join one. Hmmm, discuss.

A) I don't think fictional leagues are the best.

B) I suspect that those who prefer fictional leagues are lesser in number than those who prefer historical or real leagues. Also, generally people who prefer fictional have been playing the game for longer then most, so they already leagues. Finally, I suspect that most people who prefer fictional leagues (generally) limit themselves to less leagues than others. So I think your just dealing with a smaller GM pool.

MBBA has 2 openings

Some of you may know the MBBA, other not. We are a long running, active writing league. It is a 24 team fictional league that started with th 1973 season. We currently are in the end of the 1985 season. We use OOTP 6 and sim 3 times a week. The league website is here http://www.mbba.ootp-online.com/ and our message boards are here http://www.mbba.ootp-online.com/ipbforums/index.php As well you can find our consistution here http://mbba.ootp-online.com/MBBAConstitution.htm

We need two owners right now and are looking for anyone who can be active in the league. If you are a new owner with time on your hands you cannot find a better league as this was my first league ever and it was a great way for me to discover just how much fun one of these leagues can be.

Drop by the forums and let us know you are interested.

This is a long-running, highly active fictional league. We love the history of our league and boast the retention of many of our original owners. We would be glad to welcome you into our league whether you are an OOTP vet or looking for your first online league. A real great crowd of people in this league.

This was my first league, and I am so glad I found it as such. We started in 1973, and are now wrapping up 1985, so, as Joel said, there is a rich history. You will also see some names you might recognize, as there is a defector program of players leaving MLB to come join us, which adds some flavor.

So stop on by, I doubt you would be disappointed.

League Spotlight: MBBA!

Greetings, fellow OOTP'ers. I'm here today to tell you a little about the MBBA (Montgomery Brewster Baseball Association) and why it is a great place to be.

First, the Premise:
JANUARY 1973: Major League Baseball passes the Designated Hitter rule for use in the American League on a trial basis. Oakland owner Charlie Finley lobbied hard for the rule and his counterparts obliged. The National League did not approve the rule, and were far from alone in opposing it. Many Americans were against the latest thing to disrupt the National Pastime. In 1969, Curt Flood successfully challenged the reserve clause in baseball, beginning arbitration. Challenges to bring about true free agency for players are lurking on the horizon. Along the way, a society for preservation of the National Pastime was formed. The society decided to launch their own baseball league that would abolish the Designated Hitter and fix financial and player association problems before they arose. "Businessman" Montgomery "Monty" Brewster, who has come into millions of dollars from a deceased uncle, donated the money to the league and is the society's chairman. The MBBA will consist of 2 leagues of 12 teams divided into 3 divisions each. Expansion will be considered as league continues. Owners must have the leagues current version of OOTP and may only control 1 team. Violations of these or any rules described below may merit league enforced punishment, or in extreme cases, banishment from the MBBA. This is a league "for the owners, by the owners", so the majority of our rules are determined by the owners in a democratic spirit. We are all assumed to be in various degrees of maturity and will be expected to dust it off on occasion. Simply put it’s this easy--------
1. Have fun
2. Try your best
3. Treat others as you would like to be treated (or better!)

Some backstory on our history:
I started the MBBA with the 1973 season. We're about to conclude our 13th season and have a fairly solid reputation of being one of the more active leagues out there. We are a fictional league, but incorporate Defectors from MLB and another newer feature: The Scout-an-MLB'er Program.
We boast an extremely active forum community that is made active by an outstanding group of owners and our highly sophisticated Participation Point System .

What we're looking for:
Do we have any teams available right now? No. However, that could change in the near future. At the peak of the MBBA's activity we had plenty of "vultures" around the boards. These were people who had shown interest in the league, and were willing to hang around, be social, maybe write some league features, and basically show us that their interest in the league went beyond just getting a team handed to them on a silver platter. Granted, this is not for everyone, but the benefits of being in a super active league more than make up for the small effort (one that you'd be expected to make as an owner anyways).

How can you get involved?
Come to the forum , check out our website , take a look around, talk to some people. If you decide this might be something you'd want to be a part of, CHECK OUT THIS THREAD!

If nothing else, feel free and chat me up anytime. I love talking baseball and am also involved in a few other leagues that fall under my "GBC Umbrella".

The MBBA is an 800 lb. gorilla, literally and figuratively, in the world of OOTP. You owe it to yourselves to check out this great league, with a solid, established ownerbase and over 10 years of history.

Team Available in MBBA!

It's official. The best team in the Monty Brewster Baseball Association (MBBA) is now available.

The Baltimore Monarchs are now available. They just won the Landis Memorial Series.

This team is just littered with stars, most notably CF Steve Collins (.384, 17 HR, 107 RBI, 84 SB, 1.018 OPS) and SP Mark Bobovnik (24-2, 1.91 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 37 BB, 307 K).

Come over, visit the New Applicants section if you are interested in becoming a part of this league. There may be more openings in the near future as well.

I've only been in the MBBA, (Manhattan Myst) since just before the playoffs but it is definately a great league with TONS of owner activity. Most of the guys have known each other for some time and there are plenty of healthy rivalries. So sign up and trade me Collins!

I've recieved a couple of inquiries. I should note that this is not the type of league where you can IM me saying "i want team,,,," and we'll give it to you.

There is a selection process involved. Come to the forums, register, say hello and get involved.

If you are serious about baseball and getting involved in an active league that is rich in history, you won't be sorry you visited.

If you are tired of losing in your OOTP leagues come get Baltimore. They are sickly good, but can they afford to stay good?
