I'm glad Lackey left the dugout. It's probably best not to beat the crap out of your manager during the game.

What a crazy game, or inning at least.

*sigh* Girardi can't manage his bullpen to save his life. Marte???? Letting Burnett start the inning? The only right move he made was bringing in Rivera, but he even screwed that up by not getting him up in time.

Well, I called Yankees in 6. Let's see if Pettitte can keep from making a liar out of me.

Yeah, Girardi was pretty frustrating tonight. Disappointing to blow a comeback like that tonight. I thought we were going to come back in the ninth, but Swish has just been terrible. I thought he was due, but maybe he is just due for a day off.

Back to New York. Taking 1 of 3 in Anaheim isn't too bad, but it sure would have been nice to close it out tonight. I do feel a lot better with Pettitte in a big game than AJ though.

marte turned out to be solid but hughes couldn't get it done. only reason i see him leaving burnett in is hoping AJ can get mathis/aybar out and then use marte for figgins/abreu. guess he wanted to save joba and hughes rather than use one of them for those 2 batters. idk. hughes just couldn't get it done tonight tho

Hughes did look pretty bad tonight. He grew up right by the stadium, so I kind of feel bad for him. One thing I don't get is why is Robertson still an afterthought? Hasn't he been the second best pitcher out of the bullpen in the playoffs? Drives me nuts.

The Yankees really haven't dominated this series as much as people seem to think. I am not counting the Angels out at all. In fact, if the Angels win the next one, I think the Yankees are done.

Some positives for Angel fans are that from a Yankee fan's perspective, the Yankees almost lost Game 2 at home(why did we pitch to A-Roid anyway???), they come out west and lose 2 of 3, and this one was handed to them on a silver platter...Until Hughes handed it right back.

Yankees lead the series 3-2 but for some odd reason it feels like the Angels lead the series 2-3.

Yeah, it's been a good series...

Dunno who those people are, but they must not have been following the Yankees too closely in recent years or know much about the Angels of this season.

Nice turn of phrasing, Fidel. Now please bite your tongue. Not too hard, just enough to feel rebuked. Thank you.

Yep. Now with the weather delay, does anyone think Joe will tinker with his rotation to try to close out the series(i.e. start C.C.S. for game 6)?

Nick Swisher is more than likely benched. How's that for Angel pitching! They were able to knock a legitimate home run threat out of the lineup. Had Texiera not gotten those hits and ribbies in the 7th inning of game 5, would Joe have moved him down in the lineup for game 6, much like Torre did with A-Rod a few years ago?

This is all a lot of fun. Too bad we have to wait another day.

No way we see CC tomorrow in my opinion. If he has to pitch tomorrow or Monday he is out for 3 games in the World Series. I think you have to leave him until Monday, hope you close out the series tomorrow and have him go 3 times against the Phillies if it comes to that.

Swisher was in the line-up tonight if they were playing hitting eighth I believe, so I bet he'll be there tomorrow as well. I think he should get a day off though, but I don't think it'll happen.

It will be interesting to see if the Angels stick with Saunders or go with Weaver though. I still think they stick with Saunders because Weaver is more of a fly ball pitcher. I hate rain outs though.

I think that was the most uninspired "final out" series celebration I've ever seen.

Congrats to the Yankees.

Congrats to the Yankees.
2 series down, 1 to go. And, their most challenging opponent coming up. It was nice to get that rally monkey off our backs and it was even nicer that the Yanks didn't have to throw CC again. Now he'll be rested and ready for game 1 on Wednesday vs a very difficult Phillies team. Should be a great series.

Kudos to the Angels for a very well played series. They kinda choked in the 8th, but in the long run, that really didn't matter. They played their hearts out and it showed.
