As for making suggestions for future versions, I'd encourage anyone wishing to do so to think through your ideas and flesh them out as much as possible. The more details you can work out for your proposals, the more it shows you've thought about it a lot and have tried to head off any possible issues at the concept stage. Make a well-rounded and thought out proposal, and it'll get looked at and there's a good chance it may even get implemented. |

Repeated circular arguments that go on page after page, eventually degenerating all the way down to personal disputes and name-calling, are accomplishing nothing except aggravating yourselves and wasting your time. Unless this is your idea of "fun." Now, before you suggest doing so, I will exercise my constitutional right to leave this thread forever. Look to see me here no more! For someone who can only buy one or two games a YEAR, the decision to invest in this game was significant. The possible directions the game can still go is an open question. The complaints are reiterated because the developer has released two patches and the were hoping to have their voice heard among all the voices clamouring for Markus' attention. So Markus comes back from vacation and announces a third patch, asking for what needs fixing, and it is perfectly reasonable for the voices to again clamor for attention. The whole thing is not as unreasonable as you make it. It seems to me the division has solidified into fictional leagues happy enough and historical gamers and some onliners still wondering if they made a bad investment...one they cannot recoup. So their only choice is to lobby for the changes that will make their investment work as long as that possibility exists. Again, seems reasonable to me.

1 - Allow control of scouting when you are acting as GM for a team but are not listed as the GM. It's annoying to set the scouts on their tasks and come back a day later to see blank spaces in the status screens.
2 - AI issues need continued tweaking for in game decisions. For example, bottom of the ninth the home team is down by 3. First batter draws a walk. Second batter lays down a sacrifice bunt? You need baserunners with a three run deficit. Then even better, the next batter is intentionally walked. Why would you intentionally walk a batter to bring up the tying run? 3 - Fixing the compensation draft picks would be huge. That is a big part of trying to fix a poor team with a low payroll budget. |

Ahh, the "rubbernecker" in me is coming out. Man, it's just like an accident, you're ashamed to stare, but you just can't look away.
Anyway, hopefully this won't sound condescending, but some time it's hard to get your tone across in a forum. I think a lot of people here need to grow thicker skin. Yes, I agree; people should be nicer, they should avoid snide remarks, and so forth. But, not only can't we police things that tightly, but at some point I think you should tell yourself, "They're just a bunch of forum monkeys. I'll just post my opinions, and hope that Markus hears them." You simply cannot prevent other people from being jerks, especially on an internet forum. You can argue until the cows come home, and there will still be someone arguing against you at the very end. Saying "fine, I'll never post another suggestion" or "criticism is being suppressed" not only sounds petulant, but it also de-legitimizes your complaint. It also deprives the community, and the business, of your valid and important opinions. The point is, you're getting upset not about SI or Markus, but at the other forum members. I also think it's fair to say that there's nothing here that indicates that SI, Markus, or the moderators are out to suppress criticism. If you'd hop over to the Suggestions forum, you'll see about 20 stickied threads with over 400 posts specifically collecting suggestions for the game. Charlie posted a few suggestions over there, which I appreciate, but some of the more vocal critics haven't posted any, so we'd certainly appreciate your feedback. Over the next week there will be about 7 more topics posted before we start collating the information for presentation to Markus. Regarding the unhelpful posts, Charlie, I agree that some of them should be struck as "non-responsive." The problem is, while we can and do take action against offensive language and so forth, we just don't have the manpower to edit every snide comment that appears on this site. (We also most likely don't notice them unless you report them.) We'd need a good 5 more moderators to be able to police at that level. ![]() Anyway, a few cents for ya. Steve |

Thank you, Daddy-O, not only for your ability to comprehend the situation of the historical simmer - something which has so far been completely missing here - but also for stating the situation in a clear and concise manner. F-boys, re-read what he wrote. The man UNDERSTANDS.

Yes, that makes it sound like we are paying to be beta testers, but that's not the point. The REAL investment in this game is buying it, participating in the community (posting bugs, suggestions, mods..) When enough people do this, the game will become near perfect over time. A lot of people here act as though 6.5a just fell out of space and into our laps without realizing that it all started before that with a lot more aches and pains than 2006 has had IMO. 6.5a is a solid game now, but it took a while. I believe in Markus and his direction with 2006 and beyond and I don't mind investing the money, time, and patience necessary. That's just me though. I don't expect evryone to want to invest that much. But I can't worry about everyone else all the time. Life is too short. Mike

When I read these threads, more than anything I'm frustrated and saddened by nearly everyone's inability to stay out of arguments and avoid getting flat-out angry. I just don't see what everyone has to gain about either being sarcastically critical of people, or angrily critical about a game. At the end of the day, it's a $35 game, and IMHO not worth anger for any reason whatsoever. Frustration? Sure. Disappointment? Sure. Anger? I don't see the need. I do understand that some people may have budgets that prevent them from buying lots of games, but I also realize that these are people who can afford a PC, an internet connection, and a $35 game, so I have a hard time feeling like these are people on the verge of destitution. Anyway. Don't worry. Be happy. Can't we all just get along? Can I use a few more catchy phrases in this post?
