Possible new 2004 League
I would like to start a new 2004 league with updated rosters up to this day in the real MLB, because it seems to be a lack of leagues that use real players and are close to the actual year we are in... The league I would like to start would be using OOTP 5 and have rosters up to date as I can get them... I've been working on them the past week(all the big names would be on their correct teams, its just a few minor leaguers on the wrong teams, but for the most part, they would be close to right.) However, I'm not very good with web pages and stuff, so I would be looking for an assistant commish that would handle all of the webpages and such, and I would do the simming, signings and everything that involves the game. The game would not be required to join, nor would the ass. commish be required to have the game.. I just need someone with alot of web page experience. If anyone would be interested, please respond here and leave your email and aim if you have one.
Thanks |

Just a bit of advice..
If you plan on being the Commissioner, you're going to have to have your hands on the website quite a bit. Coordinating with another person on updates is feasible but I'd recommend you learn a bit about how to make a simple website...at least. I would think that a commissioner of an OOTP league would want to upload league reports, zipped files and immediately update the website to reflect these changes. What if your assistant Commish skips town mid-season and he takes all the website files with him? And who's gonna pay for the webspace? It's not easy to find good servers for free. Where to start? 1. Get Microsoft Publisher from a friend and use some of the quick templates it has for websites. 2. Pay for and get webspace that supports FTP( all this means is that images and files will all appear and function on your server just as they do on your computer after uploading. Free sites don't allow FTP, usually, so you have to manually manipulate HTML code ..very tedious work!!) 3. Make a dummy league and practice! Don't forget to have a pen and pad handy as things undoubtebly arise that you'll want to fix. 4. Upload, make zipped league files and upload them and practice, practice, practice. 5. Having problems? Hit the boards and ask questions.(I'll be happy to help!) 6. Got all the kinks out? Hit the boards and advertise. You should be able to get some GM's to join a league with a decent website and a good theme. Really, a website isn't hard to make. If you're going to be using FTP for uploading league reports anyway, you might as well go the extra 20 yards and make your own website!

Another thing to consider is the fact that as soon as you start play in your league, your league will then no longer be what you are setting out for it to be. If that is going to bore you, might as well not bother to even start one if you are just going to fold it because the rosters deviate from real life.
