I slipped over to the HH boards, and I see a lot of complaining. I sure am glad I didn't rush out and get it. I haven't seen a positive post yet.
Think I'll stick with Ootp4. In a few months they'll have HH2k3.1 |

Not excatly true. Many positive posts and most people are giving it thumbs up. I like OOTP4 but the High Heat searies is also a great baseball game. Owning both fills my needs. |

The following thread is an indication of people's opinion:

I would agree Busterking. Sometimes I just like to see my hitter smash the ball!
I have it for the ps2 and it fills my graphics needs. I hope it succeeds, so EA has some competition. Triple Crap! Todd |

I am also waiting for HH2K3 for the PC. The product for the PS2 is getting rave reviews.
I would take the complaining on the HH boards with a grain of salt. A year or two agao they were a good source of information and community. For whatever reason that situation has deteriorated. The Clubhouse board now has a dispropotionate number of posters who just like to complain. I think that reflects more on the state of the board than the actual state of the game. I think part of the problem is that 3DO used to have a solid presence on the board and that doesn't appear to be the case now. OOTP developers have a solid presense on this board and the sense of community is overwhelming. Both games fill a different niche in the sports/baseball sim market. I happen to fall into both nitches

Just from reading some of those posts and having owned the previous 3 versions of HH I can conclude one thing. It's not fair to charge someone $30 for a roster update and patch.

I'm one of the complainers. It deserves it.

It's true that 3DO has NO presence on the Clubhouse board.
It's also true that HH2k2 was extremely buggy, and 3DO released only one patch that fixed very little and actually disabled the mound visits option. Months ago, someone on the board asked, "When's the next patch coming out?" A cynic responded: "In March. It's called HH2k3." Turns out he was a prophet. It's made High Heat fanatics a little touchy. In general, though, a quick look at the Clubhouse board seems to me to indicate that -- for most people -- all is forgiven. HH2k2 was a really nice but flawed game. Maybe they fixed it. I still like OOTP, and I especially like Markus' responsiveness to the customers. -- Louie

Here is a day I thought would never come.
3DO will not get $30 from me this year. Markus, on the other hand, already has. I'm not saying I wouldn't spend $60 a year on PC baseball, I'm just not giving 3DO a thought. You can run roughshod over your customers only for so long.

I don't forgive HH. If I didn't buy 2k2 and bought 2k3 coming from 2k1, I'd probably be alright. But they are selling a patch.

When I first posted this it seemed to be the case. I have seen some positive posts since. I've bought the last three of the HH series not to include this years patch. I've always enjoyed it up until last year, where it became more work than fun, I play manage only so Ootp suits me fine. |

I am hearing great things about HH 2003 for the PC. I think most of the negatives are for the PS2 version.
There is a list of new fixes and features for HH2003 and baseball sim central. Remember, OOTP4 is not a graphical or animated sim. Computers are varied in graphics and sound hardware. This is where lots of crashes occur. |

I will never buy a High Heat game again after the crashes that plagued me with 2k2. I could NOT continue my fictional league with that game and that made me a little bitter toward 3DO. Oh well, that led me to OOTP, which I would say was a definite step up (for what I was looking for).
