Is there any other games like ITP?
Is there any other games like ITP in soccer game or basketball game?
Being as a player, not a manager or a coach. |

That game looks weird you can go to the casino?
What does that have to do with soccer?

Looks like you can buy non-soccer related things (there is a car in the bottom left). If you could figure a system where HERE IS AN IDEA...
the first part of your career you are mainly working on baseball skills and after you max out you begin to work on your prestige by buying other items like houses cars etc. When you contract comes up you are either expendable or a a star guy based on what else you've been able to buy...I know it is shallow and materialistic...but it would give you a goal later in the game rather than just simming and racking up numbers... |

Actually New Star Soccer 2 is not a bad little game for 10 bucks...and to add what another poster already mentioned, don't be knocking a casino when ITP has a bar and a super store where you can buy 5 million dollar Roy Hobbs bats....

I bought the game on a whim...only $10. Actually a pretty enjoyable game. Ala ITP, I played it solid, all weekend long. There is a relationship screen where you have ratings for your coach, teammates, fans, media, family, friends and girlfriend. A negative rating can affect your play...so it benefits you to keep them happy.
The game is pretty in depth where you can buy houses (from 50k to 20mill), cars (from 150 bucks to 1mill), clothes out the wazoo, accessories (Rolex watches, diamond earrings and rings, etc). Yes, you can go gamble as a way to make some extra money. You get options periodically where you have to make a decision from a drop down menu. Each choice has consequences. Example: Friends invite you to go out after practice. Option 1: go with friends (Friends rating goes up, team and coach rating goes down for not being committed to the team). Option 2: go for additional practice with your personal trainer (Team rating goes up and get a talent bump. Friends rating plummets.) And be careful when drinking as I did get league news that a player on another team went to jail for 6 months for DUI. Girlfriends come in 5 different personalities. Each reacts differently. The first two "date" opportunities I got rejected me as I wasn't rich enough on one and my house wasn't nice enough on the other. So the extraneous stuff is pretty in depth, but not to time consuming. Basically buying stuff. No option to actually go virtual in your house and check it out (would be a good option in ITP though..kind of like ESPN's football game where they have the crib section). In game is strictly text based. You are given text scenario for when you are involved in a play. Here's an example: (Your team) clears the ball and is on a breakaway. (Your player) receives a low pass on the left side of the pitch. There are two defenders on you. You have a teammate available in the box. At this point you have a timer countdown that you have to select what to do action wise and hit play to continue the play. Options are: Dribble (try to outdribble your opponents) Pass (use pass skill to get ball to teammate) Shoot (use shoot skill, and distance to attempt a shot). Then you get a reply, via text on the results. Example. (Your Player) attempts a cross with his weak foot. The pass is horrible and cleared by (the opposing team). Anyway, pretty decent for only 10 bones and definitely something along the lines of what ITP can become...and more. It's reassuring that Steve knew about this as that should show that the OOTP guys do check out these games and it's inevitable that they take some of the positive ideas and try to use them for the next ITP. I have high hopes for this game over the years and hope that it becomes as big as OOTP does.

Years ago, Footballer of the Year 2 was an excellent game for the Amiga when you played a footballer. You bought a certain number of goal chances a week, and then had to get in the right position and finish them off. You won money via trivia. Good stuff.

Agree with Ragin Cajun's post concerning New Star Soccer....just to add a few points...you have a training schedule which is very important since you start out as a 17 year old...try being a striker at 17 in the Premier League and you will find you head handed to you..a nice feature is that when you fail to either score, complete a pass, cross, header, tackle, dribble, ect., the skill that was required to perform the action flashes, so you know the areas where you should improve with training...there is a small news feature with quotes about your performance, both good and bad reviews....I just wonder how well the teams are researched as there are so many leagues to choose from...for example you can play Resovia Rzeszow which is a Polish 3rd Division Group 4 team....saying that though, leagues I am familiar with tend to have the correct teams at the top of the divisions so I think some team rating system is incorporated and it's not random results....again not a bad game at all for a ten spot.....

Found another soccer player simulation. Its name is "Andreas Osswald's Championship Soccer 2003/04" and you can download it from "http://download.com.com/3000-7476-10262804.html?tag=lst-0-2" (download.com).
Didn't try it yet. Cheers. Sergio.

I also saw some international replies that mentioned that certain leagues were dead accurate to the teams and other info. I'm sure that the standing can fluctuate as you age with teams trading players, acquiring new ones etc... so Man U could finish last (never seen it yet though).

RC...I have been taking my player slowly through the Italian League...as a 17 year old playing for Ravenna in Serie C2B, I lit up the pitch as my skill increased but as my team was promoted there was a marked difference in my performance and now, with Ravenna up to Serie C1A, there are games when I completely stink up the joint...but I have been doing decent in some Internationals that I played in, so my skills might be good enough to try moving on to perhaps England soon..I learned my lesson not to accept a top team offer too soon...if you do not have the skills to back it up, you'll be laughed off the pitch....I'm sorry to say this, but ITP doesn't come close to holding my attention and enjoyment as this little game does....
