This years standing...predictions.
Here are my prediction for this year in baseball... what do you guys think... I added coments by each team...
AL East- it is Boston, and New York *New York...after adding a-rod, no choice but the top spot. *Boston...Wild Card Toronto...another solid season. Baltimore..I hope they fall on there face. Tampa...Lou says they will finish "not last" yah right! AL Central- 4 teams are in Competition *Kansas City.... Going out on a limb Cleveland... they are going to fall into form again. Minnesota... one of my favorite teams, if things go right will win the division. Chicago... Lost bartolo, Alomar, Everett... Detroit.......sad...just sad.. AL West- 3 great teams, One SPot! *Anaheim- Got 4 big free agents... Seattle- MY FAV....when is age going to catch up...this year ![]() Oakland- The need line up help... Texas-........see Detroit. NL EAST----Atlanta the team to beat. *Atlanta- Has won the division each year for 10years, this is the year they fall? *New York- Adding Cameron, Will help Glavine, a lot, I see them as the wild card Florida- After losing the MVP of the Post Season...oh man... Philadelphia- THe curse still stands...all phily sports. Montreal- After losing the best all around player in NL, They fall NL CENTRAL- *Chicago- the big 2, turned into 4, Houston- Adding to Yanks helps a lot. St. Louis- Where is Mark McGuire? Cincinati- Even with a healthy Griffey, this team is SAD Pittsburgh.......Ugly... Milwaukee- ........bad for baseball NL WEST *LA- I have this feeling, that they will win... San Fran- Bonds will go down with injury... San Diego- Nice Pickups with a new stadium Colorado- IN NEED OF PITCHING... this is a sleeper team Arizona- Randy will have to Carry this team. |

I think the Braves' era is drawing to a close. I think it will be the Phillies in the NL East, followed by Florida. The Mets and Braves will battle for third and Montreal will finish a distant fifth. I hope the Mets will win, but this is how I think it will go.
I think the Red Sox eke by the Yankees, though it will be close.

Point by point:
"AL East- it is Boston, and New York</b> *New York...after adding a-rod, no choice but the top spot. *Boston...Wild Card Toronto...another solid season. Baltimore..I hope they fall on there face. Tampa...Lou says they will finish "not last" yah right!" Cannot make a big deal out of picking NY first. However I fall into the camp of thinking picing up ARod is a bit overratred. I think the Red Sox actually did a better job in the off-season picking up a 2nd #1 in Schilling and a top-notch closer. I also believe strongly that the Yankees are as much of an injury machine as they are a winning machine. Look for Brown to go down by June after pulling Lord knows what, Giambi's knee exploding, Sheffields thumb needing surgery after all... etc, etc, all the way down the line. The Yankees simnply do not have enough trade chips to make up for injuries... oh yeah! I forgot about Lieber... yikes! And Contreras? The man is 48 years old, I'm telling you! AL Central- 4 teams are in Competition *Kansas City.... Going out on a limb Cleveland... they are going to fall into form again. Minnesota... one of my favorite teams, if things go right will win the division. Chicago... Lost bartolo, Alomar, Everett... Detroit.......sad...just sad..." The Cleveland Indians have just a good enough team to stay out of last place. I really have a hard time believing that their horrid pitching staff will catapult them over the Twin (best pitching staff in the Central) , or that their hitrers are better than the White Sox. I pick: Royals Twins after a one game playoff with the Royals. White Sox Indians Tigers "AL West- 3 great teams, One SPot! *Anaheim- Got 4 big free agents... Seattle- MY FAV....when is age going to catch up...this year Oakland- The need line up help... Texas-........see Detroit.</i>" I agree with all four selections. "NL EAST----Atlanta the team to beat. Montreal- After losing the best all around player in NL, They fall" It's the Phillies this year, my friend. The Braves *will* fold finally this year, and the Marlins are balanced enough to make it a good race. The Mets two front starters show their age and implode, and the Expos simply cannot make up for the losses of Vlad and Vazquez. "NL CENTRAL- *Chicago- the big 2, turned into 4, Houston- Adding to Yanks helps a lot. St. Louis- Where is Mark McGuire? Cincinati- Even with a healthy Griffey, this team is SAD Pittsburgh.......Ugly... Milwaukee- ........bad for baseball" I agree. "NL WEST *LA- I have this feeling, that they will win... San Fran- Bonds will go down with injury... San Diego- Nice Pickups with a new stadium Colorado- IN NEED OF PITCHING... this is a sleeper team Arizona- Randy will have to Carry this team." So batting Izturis second in the lineupo will prove to be good enough to get them into the playoffs, eh? ![]() I like the Padres, then the Giants, the DIamondbacks and then the Dodgers and finally the Rockies. |

So do people really think that the additions of a mid-level centerfielder and a rookie shortstop are going to turn the Mets from a sub-70 win team to a playoff contender? They were absolutely atrocious towards the end of last season. Personally, I think they'll be lucky to finish 4th in the NL East.
Predictions: AL East: Yankees Red Sox (WC) Blue Jays Orioles Devil Rays AL Central: White Sox Twins Royals Tigers Indians AL West: Angels A's Mariners Rangers NL East: Phillies Braves Marlins Expos Mets NL Central: Cubs Cardinals Astros Pirates Reds Brewers NL West: Padres Giants (WC) Diamondbacks Dodgers Rockies

I agree with most of your predictions, however there is just no way the Phillies finish out of the top 2 in the East (barring injuries of course). The Braves are a slight favorite over the Phillies only because of past performance, on paper I'd take the Phils. Either way I think the NL Wild Card comes out of the East.

Balitmore
NOthing personal, I have just always hated baltimore since they beat Seattle in the 97' Playoffs. Damn Mike Mussina...THat seattle team had one of the best lineups that year, I could be mistaken thou, They set a record for most homeruns for a year by a major league club...and I am sure that has been broken. But Baltimore was better, A lot better Pitching... I just wish seattle had won
Peter Angelos, along with Stienbrenner are the two owners I hate the most. He doesnt want the expos in DC, but hasnt fielded a good team in about 5-6 years. At least Stienbrenner does anything possible to win, We need more owners like that... The owner I hated the most was Bud Selig...

It's very depressing to see all the predictions about the Phillies winning.
