fire mike davis

There are certain things in college sports that are unacceptable ... if the Tar Heels fired a UNC guy in Dougherty, then we can definitely can an Alabama guy at IU ... Season was completely unacceptable ...

I see Davis getting another year to turn things around. He was in the national championship game just two years ago and supposedly has a top ten recruiting class coming in. If they fire him now, they risk losing a couple blue-chip recruits.

I vote to keep him, I'm an Ohio State fan now if only we could get our program back on track!

I think he will be gone for sure. I can only hope that they will lure Steve Alford away from my Hawkeyes so we can be rid of his contract.

Davis stepped into a good situation with that final four team. I don't pay much attention to Indiana but he just doesn't strike me as a great coach. Knight may have been too tough on the players but they performed, I think Davis is a little too soft on the players. It might just be because he was an assistant at the same school, assistants have a much more player friendly attitude and alot of times serve as somewhat of players voice on the staff. When you move up from asst. to head coach with players that you already have a relationship with its hard to change from a players coach as an assistant to a head coach that must be more demanding on them.

I'd love to see Alford, but as long as they bring in an IU guy I'll be happy (as long as it's not Isiah Thomas)

It is unbelievable that the winner of the IUPUI - Valpo game will be the only Indiana college in the tourney.

Mike Davis should be fired. We are seeing what he can do with his players. I don't think IU will let him go though. It would cost them too much money.

I think you gotta give a college coach a few years with his own players before you can fully judge him.
Of course I'm an Illini fan, so I like the job Davis is doing so far.

Illini fans ... freakin win something before responding ... the thing you are known most for is the Lou Do ..... IU and the real Assembly Hall is known for winning, not whining .... Davis has got to go .... All the crap about Davis being a good recruiter is gone .... What IU needs most is height ... we got a skinny 6'9" (if smith doesn't go pro) .... a solid 6'8" ... a skinny 6'7" ... and 2 6'4" or unders ... all of which average like 20 points a game ... so we got 5 Bracey Wrights and zero Brian Sloan's ..... IU basketball is about fundamentals and winning ... it's not about 1 and done's ... it's not about flash and pro ..... Bobby had his faults but he won and graduated players .... Davis has always been about auditioning, he audtions for a new paycheck. He audtions for a NBA job, lately he's auditioning for a role in the new Broadway play "It's Not My Fault" ..... I hate him and want him gone .... It's time for an IU guy at IU

As for those who disagree and can only criticize my "....." format of writing ... Well I I'm drinking and got fired from my job today, also my Irish sucked in football and my Hoosiers sucked at basketball .... so either I say blow me or I go postal your choice =) .... obvious sarcasm

IU's defense was horific, and their size play was as well.

I went to the HS Knight was from, so I take it personal that you guys fired an Alumn from here, I think you get what you deserve.

However, Davis is a great coach IMO.

No team that has played on Thursday has one the Big 10 tourney. Only 2 have made it to the finals.

Yep, and Ohio State was one of them and they did it last year. They are playing their best basketball right now and they are a talented team that has been a huge disappointment. I think they beat IU and then lose to Illinois but still I'm holding out some hope that they could do it. lol

My last comment on this for the time being. In a shocking change of pace Davis took some blame and said he had been playing the wrong lineup all year long.

Well sort of. Walk-ons don't need a lot of motivation when they get a chance to play. What he should take the blame for is not motivating his talented players, for not running an intelligent offense all year, having the worst substitution patterns ever, blowing the medical red-shirt he was all but granted for Leach, and not sitting Bracey's ass down the first time he launched a 40 foot jumper 11 seconds into the shot clock. Oops, well that was Bobby's fault too I guess. Bobby may be a prick, but his team is still playing.

While we are at it. Why is Gene Keady still coaching? Sure he's a good guy but is anyone else reminded of Denny Crum's last few years while watching Purdue now?
