Penguins

I know how much you all love hockey in here, but just wanted to say how happen I am to see the Penguins finally snap their 18 game winless streak tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes. A great game, with some good hitting, nice goals, and some beautiful saves by both goalies. The Pens were actually trailing 3-1 but came from behind and won 4-3 in overtime. Congrats Penguins, next step is the Stanley Cup. (in about five or six years if the NHL is still around)

Personally, I think the Penguins will be either folded our out of Pittsburgh within a few years. Mayor Murph has pretty much bankrupted the city, and I can't see anymore RAD funds going to building a new arena. Not even Super Mario could rescue our beloved Pens.

I'll miss games at the Igloo.

Don't you mean in five or six years if the Penguins are still around?

The Penguins will still probably be around somewhere, most likely Portland.

They've always been my second favorite team after Vancouver and what's happened there in the last 5 or so years is a crying shame. Even Lemieux, trying to get his money that the previous owner screwed him out of can't save hockey there again, he's just too old and with a lockout looming, won't be back imo.

They're done in Pittsburgh unless they get a new lease on the stadium, gate revenues alone can't sustain an NHL franchise.

Did I misread that?

Is the best thing about the Penguins their announcer, Mike Lange?

Leave it to a phoenix team to stop a losing streak, first the magic and now this. Does anyone else think that trading Burke and keeping a Bouche was a bad idea? I mean they got raped by edmonton tonight 7-2, and there not that good of team. Just a great year for Arizona sports!

It's hard to pin "luck" on Boucher's shutout streak ... I mean, you can credit the 5 guys in front of him only so much ... he did play very well in that stretch ... but there's the scary thing, outside of that brief period, he's has been mediocre at best ... Philly dumped him for a reason (not that Bobby Clarke is a brilliant GM) ... Bierk and Pelletier should be the tandem ... Boucher is somewhat like Blaine Lacher or Jim Carey ... flash in the pan, just his flash has lasted a little longer.
