Professional Writer

Markus, I have really enjoyed your work over the past few years. The growth of OOTP5 into a world class sim has been great for those of us who prefer text based sport games. ITP is truly an original experience and has much to recommed it. I believe that now your organization has reached a level of success that requires you make a staff addition. For you to take it to the next level I believe you need a professional writer.

This is a text based game. That means the text has to be pretty darn good. It's all we as gamers have, particularly with the ITP concept. A good role playing game has literally hundred of pages of dialogue. I'm not suggesting that you turn ITP into Baldur's Gate I just think that your development company has reached a crossroads. Are you going to continue to grow or do you continue to be a niche product.

Your expetise has been as a baseball fan, computer programmer, and entrepeneur. Writing game copy just isn't your strong point. From OOTP5 play by play to the bar sequences in ITP the one weak point is compelling game copy. This isn't even a real criticism it is impossible for you to be a genius programmer and Hemingway in the same body. It's time for you to take the next step. Get someone to truly make ITP come alive. The concept is fantastic. Just let someone script it for you.

I am not intentionally trying to be rude. It would seem to me that if you are applying for a writer's role then it would be beneficial to make use of proper grammar and spelling in your sales pitch.

Again, this is not an attempt to be rude; it is just an observation.

I'm just a guy who loves the game and would like to see it get better. Can see where you might get the idea I was pitching for a job but it's really not the case. I honestly believe a professional writer is needed to make ITP the success it should be. However, you are correct I don't have the talent or composition skills to do the job myself.

slic1149, I agree 100% that the game would benefit from it. Its a big cost on their part, but I think the benefits to OOPT & ITP would far outweigh the cost. In fact, they should consider hiring someone with a sports writing background, perhaps in a consulting role.
