April 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 April 2316 Opening Day and PAM Surprises If we quickly polled fans of the CBO which teams they expect to compete for the 2316 Sole Survivor Series title, most would point to the last four standing of last season: Vault 81, Lexington, University Point, and Easy Town. If we told you that PAM only picked one of those teams to be a top contender and for two of them to miss the playoffs completely, would you believe us? Well . . . In PAM's predictions for 2316, based on final records picks, the Assaultrons would be the favorites, taking on the Quincy Gunners in the Sole Survivor Series. Other league picks are Fort Hagen in the Institute League and Diamond City to win a tiebreaker over Oberland in the Railroad League. The defending champion Dwellers and the Deathclaws are both expected to miss the playoffs, while the Synths are picked to be the 5th seed in the North Charles Association. Brotherhood League Easy Town finished 2nd in 2315 and then upset the #2 seed Salem Witch Hats in the NCA Semifinals to reach the NCA Championship Series before falling to Lexington. PAM sees a lot of talent and leadership for the Trons, leading to them being the top pick in the CBO. 2315 Nuka Hitter Award winner, CF Eden Babz, is predicted to win his second-straight award by PAM's picks over the likes of Salem's Brian DeLong and Thatch Heard, Fort Hagen's Diamond Ball, and Bunker Hill's Kasumi Goto. On the mound, PAM expects both starters Tarzan Rogers and Lonely Gale to compete for the Vim! Pitcher Award. PAM has The Slog returning to the playoffs as the 3rd seed, just four back of the Trons. Malden is picked to make their second-straight playoff appearance as the 4th seed, and the Witch Hats will close off the playoff picks as the 6th seed. Nahant is expected to finish two back of the wildcard race, followed by Nordhagen Beach at three back and County Crossing as the CBO's worst team after having the 2nd-overall pick (SP Scooter Harcourt, whom they have made their ace in 2316). Institute League As mentioned, the Shroud are expected to rebound from a disappointing 2315 when they missed the playoffs completely. After four-straight trips to the playoffs, the Silver Shroud finished at 61-69 and 4th in the IL. This season, they get the return of star Ball, whom PAM predicts will finish third in the Nuka Hitter Award voting. PAM also has C Malificent Shaw as 10th on that same list after he hit .342/15/68 in 2315. On the mound, PAM has legend Nuke Laloosh making a comeback in performance, picking him to with the Vim! Pitcher Award in 2316. Laloosh last won that award in 2305 while with Roxbury. He went 5-17 with a 5.95 ERA in 2315, so PAM's pick seems to be an error in calculation. We'll see. Behind Fort Hagen, PAM has the defending NCA champions, Lexington, as the only other playoff team. Bunker Hill and Cambridge are picked to finish two back of the last wildcard spot, with Concord at four back, and Starlight and Sunshine Tidings both finishing with fewer than 60 wins. In addition to Laloosh on PAM's Vim! Pitcher Award voting list, both the Coursers and Radstags have a couple of contenders. For Cambridge, they are Scooter Yaghmur and rookie Bullets Barnes (the 8th-overall pick in the 2315 Draft). For the Stags, those pitchers are Kevin Gauzeman, who is moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation, and Leyden Aigg. Minuteman League There is movement expected in the ML in 2316. The defending champions in the ML, the University Point Deathclaws, are picked to finish tied for 5th in 2316 and miss the playoffs. It is a bit of a surprise since we think that the team is still strong despite losing some veterans through retirements in the offseason. In place of the Claws, the Gunners and Jamaica Plain are expected to battle it out as the SCA's top team with Quincy expected to come out on top as the #1 seed. The Red Rockets are expected to finish as the #3 seed, and Atom as the #5 seed to complete the ML's playoff teams. Other teams in order, including tiebreakers are Spectacle Island, Goodneighbor, the Deathclaws, and Southie. Looking at potential award winners in the league, for hitters, the Rockets, which may have the CBO's best offense, had three on the list in 3B Tre Morgueman (3rd), CF Jay Gabby (4th), and 1B Sheedy Smith (8th). Other ML players on the list are the Reapers' Donovan Mackey and Griffin Herring and the Gunners' Duff Fee. On the mound, Spectacle Island's Aqua Purified is expected to win the Vim! Pitcher Award. He finished 9th in voting last season after leading the SCA in victories in a 17-8, 4.08 season. Other contenders in the ML include Atom's K-9 Creep and Mesquite Williams. The rest are in the RL. Railroad League PAM is so confident that the Dwellers reached their peak in 2316 that she is picking them for a spot other than #1 for the first time in awhile. They are down so much, that PAM has Vault 81 as finishing 5th in the RL and missing the playoffs by a game behind Glowing Sea, who PAM has edging Roxbury in a tiebreaker. In another tiebreaker, PAM has Diamond City winning the league, though even with Oberland. The T-51s missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 2306, breaking a string of eight-straight playoffs appearances. The Swatters did make the playoffs last season, finishing 2nd behind Vault 81. At the back of the pack, Egret and FHE are both expected to tie for 6th and the SCA's worst record. However, the teams would hold only the 4th and 5th picks in the 2316 Draft. For potential award winners from the RL, the Radscorpions' Enigma Montgomery is the pick to win the 2316 Nuka Hitter Award, which would be his third-straight. Other contenders are the Sox's Joey Bell, FHE's Missile Crews, and Glowing Sea's Naga Arakaki, who won the Nuka Hitter Award in 2312. For pitchers, there are several contenders on the list: Diamond City's Beachboy Nut, 2315 Vim! Pitcher Award winner Macho Lopez, and Heaven Fontenot, the T-51s' Emperry Alizm, Roxbury's Saint O'Fender, the Dwellers' Zack Million, and the Yao Guai's Baker Dozen. April 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 24 April 2316 Early Returns on PAM's Picks We have completed our first two weeks of the 21-week 2316 season. With the early returns, PAM looks as though she could be accurate with some teams, but she could have been less than accurate in some of her other picks. In our league breakdowns, we will look at some of those picks that PAM either underestimated or, in one case, vastly overrated. We are not analyzing University Point this time, but the Deathclaws were picked to finish below .500 and instead possess the CBO's top record at 11-2. But first, here are the current team power rankings for the Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) University Point Deathclaws (162.3, ++) 2) Concord Radstags (150.4, ++) 3) Bunker Hill 75ers (148.4, -) 4) Malden Grognaks (140.4, o) 5) Vault 81 Dwellers (133.6, ++) 6) Diamond City Swatters (129.6, --) 7) Spectacle Island Reapers (129.6, +) 8) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (127.6, +) 9) Lexington Synths (115.7, ++) 10) Quincy Gunners (114.7, --) 11) Easy Town Assaultrons (113.7, --) 12) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (107.7, --) 13) The Slog Ghouls (100.8, +) 14) Goodneighbor Hancocks (99.8, --) 15) Nahant Celtics (95.8, +) 16) Oberland T-51s (84.2, +) 17) Cambridge Coursers (83.2, --) 18) Atom Cats (81.2, --) 19) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (80.2, -) 20) Southie Brews (70.3, ++) 21) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (52.4, +) 22) County Crossing Bloodbugs (50.4, o) 23) Salem Witch Hats (48.4, --) 24) FHE Yao Guai (45.4, --) 25) Starlight Killers (33.6, +) 26) Egret Ninjas (16.7, -) 27) Roxbury Rad Sox (16.7, -) 28) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (-23.0, o) Brotherhood League We will start each league breakdown with PAM's predictions, just as a reminder of what she is expecting over the 130-game schedule. Remember that Easy Town is expected to finish atop the CBO in 2316. With that stated, PAM's predicted order with tiebreakers being listed first in assumed ties is: the Assaultrons, The Slog, Malden, Salem, Nahant, Nordhagen Beach, and County Crossing. Two days ago, the 10-1 Grognaks were the CBO's best, but they have now lost two straight in a weekend series versus Quincy. Still, Malden holds a two-game lead and looks to be a legitimate force. They are followed by three teams above .500: the Trons, Ghouls, and Celtics. All of the Party Boys, Withc Hats, and Bloodbugs are below .500. For the Grognaks, being a playoff team in an expectation, but they probably did not anticipate such a fast start. Now the pressure is on them to stay on top of the BL. Malden is getting it done on offense, ranking 1st in six categories, most importantly being runs scored (75). RF Floren Habern (.429/0/6) is getting on base regularly, and LF Taffy Dare (.341/3/8), 3B Jacob Tarberry (.327/3/14), and 2B Jack of Diamonds Cordero (.333/1/9) are driving in runs. On the mound, Malden is 2nd in runs allowed (31), including having the 4th-best Starters ERA (2.62) and 2nd-best Bullpen ERA (1.70). Hry Caje (3-1, 1.36) and Edgar Drezek (2-0. 2.55) both have sub-3.00 ERAs, and CL Rump Pellstilt (2 SV, 0.00) has yet to allow a run. Institute League PAM's predictions for the IL were: Fort Hagen, Lexington, Bunker Hill, Cambridge, Concord, Starlight, and Sunshine Tidings. Looking at the standings, it is not far off with one obvious exception: the Radstags. The Stags are tied with the 75ers for first place and are on a CBO-best six-game winning streak. Concord is now tied with Bunker Hill and the Grognaks for the SCA's best record. The Silver Shroud is in 3rd with Lexington at 4th and the last of the above .500 teams in the IL. Cambridge, the Chemists, and the Killers are all below ,500 with Starlight currently holding the NCA's worst record. The Radstags have not been a great team over the years, but they are attempting to make their third-straight playoff appearance, which would be a franchise record. PAM picked the Stags to finish in 5th and miss the playoffs, though, and they have responded by winning a lot. Concord is tied for 6th in runs scored (54) and 1st in runs allowed (22), a measly 1.69 runs per game allowed, including four shutouts and another five games holding opponents to one or two runs. 1B Two Shoes Rivera (.347/1/7/4 SB) leads the team in average, RBI, and stolen bases. SS Grayson Caps (.250/2/5) is the home runs leader. On the mound, the Stags have the best Starters ERA (1.19), with all four starters currently in the 1.00-1.99 range: Leyden Aigg (1-0, 1.16), Kevin Gauzeman (3-0, 1.12), Frank Heart (1-1, 1.31), and Mel Gorgeous (2-0, 1.59). The Bullpen ERA is 6th (2.95), led by CL Dimman Dillon (4 SV, 2.84). Minutemen League The ML was expected to finish this way: Quincy, Jamaica Plain, Atom, Spectacle Island, Goodneighbor, University Point, and Southie. After winning the ML in 2315 and reaching the SCA Championship Series, we were surprised that PAM thought the Deathclaws has aged out and picked them in 6th place. The Claws' response? Only the CBO's best record. On the other hand, the 2nd place pick, whom we are featuring and was expected to be the best offensive team in 2316 is not on the playoff track. Current standings see University Point on top, followed by the Reapers, Gunners, and Hancocks for winning teams. Atom, the Brews, and the Red Rockets are all below .500. At 0-13, the Rockets are the CBO's worst team. The Rockets are the CBO's worst offense. Someone needs to check PAM's functioning. Jamaica Plain is 14th in the SCA with 30 runs scored, which is actually one more than Starlight has scored. However, the Red Rockets are last in the CBO in several offensive categories, including batting average (.201). .201. As a team. Leadoff 3B Tre Morgueman, who hit a career low, .224, last season and promised to bounce back to his .270 median is batting .085. LF Ken Debate (.167/1/4) and SS Brandon Larsonist (.178/2/7) are not much better. CF Jay Gabby (.293/1/6) is the team leader in hitting of qualified hitters. There are 68 players around the CBO hitting better than Gabby. It's bad. It's so bad that we only need to analyze the offense. This team needs to get blown up to find some chemistry. GM Marco Pacheco had better do something soon. Railroad League One more look at the RL shows this predicted order: Diamond City, Oberland, Glowing Sea, Roxbury, Vault 81, Egret, and FHE. Of course, the big surprise was putting the defending champions in the non-playoff pecking order, but this league is not too far off. Currently, both the Dwellers and Swatters are knotted at 9-4 atop the RL. The Radscorpions are the only other team above .500. All of the T-51s, Yao Guai, Ninjas, and Rad Sox are below .500. Egret and the Sox are tied at the bottom and only have better records than the Rockets. Roxbury thus gets our biggest surprise award in this update for RL teams. Expected to be playoff contenders, the Rad Sox have been a disaster and currently are tied with the Ninjas and Salem for the CBO's second-longest losing streak of five games. The Soz are tied for 12th in the SCA in runs scored (38) and 14th in runs allowed (73). On offense, only the first three hitters are doing much of anything: LF Van Leuwen (.326/1/5), 3B Rodney Caribou (.298/2/5), and 1B Honker Trinkl (.292/2/7). On the mound, only fourth starter, SP Freak Mouton (2-1, 3.86) has an ERA below 4.00 for the starters. Ace Saint O'Fender (0-4, 5.96) has been shellacked in all four starts after returning from a serious back injury in 2315 that limited him to nine games. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 17 - The Slog sports fans can't stop singing the praises of Puddle Norman, who has been selected the North Charles Association Player of the Week. Norman was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .560 average (14-for-25), 7 RBIs and 1 home run. His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Foo Fieterz was rewarded with the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Oberland T-51s left fielder hit .464 while collecting 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 3 home runs and 15 RBIs. April 24 - Not every ball that came off Aaron Squire's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Bunker Hill 75ers. For his exploits, Squire was named this week's North Charles Association Player of the Week award. The Bunker Hill shortstop put up 10 hits in 20 at-bats and 3 home runs while hitting .500 with 11 RBIs and 7 runs scored. Pitcher Aqua Purified of the Spectacle Island Reapers was the top performer in the South Charles Association over the last week of play and today he was tabbed as the Player of the Week. Purified notched a 2-0 mark, 14 strikeouts and a standout 0.00 earned run average while giving up 9 hits and walking 2 in 17.1 innings. CBO Noteworthy News April 14 - The Vault 81 Dwellers revealed their Champions Statue outside CURIE Inc. Field on the Boston College side. The statue commemorates the 2315 championship with manager Drac Jaskula holding the Sole Survivor Cup in the air. CYL All-Star Game Hannigan Smith cemented his status as one of the best in the game with his performance tonight. "It's an honor to even be invited to the game. To be rewarded as the MVP of the game is extra special," the North Region star said after his great showing. "Just playing on the same diamond as some of these guys is a pure treat." In the game itself, Hannigan Smith certainly wasn't the only great player out there, but he did enough in the North Region's 13-8 win over the South Region All-Stars. His all-time numbers show Smith is carrying a .312 career batting average with 57 home runs and 136 RBIs. It is not an easy task to pick the best players for the annual baseball classic -- the All-Star Game. It is not possible to please everybody. Whether we agree or not, they have been chosen ... and here they are. The rosters for this year's Commonwealth Youth League All-Star Game have been announced. The NR manager conceded that not every deserving player is rewarded with a spot on the roster. "Every year," he said, "someone is disappointed to be left out. This year's no different -- too many good players, not enough roster spots."

May 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2316 The May 1 Super Post, Part 1 CBO Top Performances Hitters - He was one of two players with a game score of 100 or higher in April, but Southie's Keen Sugiura earned the highest score with a 105. On April 13 at Spectacle Island, the Brews' 1B went 3 for 4 with two home runs, a walk, three runs scored, and seven batted in. The Brews won, 12-5. Pitchers - Cambridge's Scooter Yaghmour pitched a gem of a game on April 29 at The Slog, earning him the month's highest pitching game score of 91. Yaghmour pitched nine shutout innings, allowing two singles, walking two, and striking out 10 in the Coursers' 5-0 victory. CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Jacob Tarberry, the Malden third baseman, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .357 batting average with 30 hits, 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 20 times. That kind of hitting earned him the North Charles Association Batter of the Month honors for April. SCA Hitter - Phantom Vargas battered South Charles Association pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Vargas told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 16 games, Vargas hit .379 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 13 runs. NCA Pitcher - April was a magical month for Trauma Medley of Bunker Hill. He held the North Charles Association hitters spellbound, conjuring up a 4-0 mark and a 1.60 ERA. Medley also chalked up 5 starts, 33.2 innings and 16 strikeouts. For this outstanding performance he was rewarded with the Pitcher of the Month trophy. SCA Pitcher - The Glowing Sea Radscorpions really got a lot out of their bullpen in April and Pink Floyd definitely played the leading role. Today the South Charles Association recognized his spectacular contribution, naming him the Pitcher of the Month for April. He made 10 relief appearances and compiled 3 saves in 13.2 innings with 7 strikeouts and a 0.66 ERA. NCA Rookie - On the heels of a breakout month Tyler Furlow received the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month trophy from BNN. The Nahant hurler flashed some fine figures in April, picking up 1 win and no losses, 10 IP, 0.00 ERA, 6 strikeouts and no walks. When he was on the mound, the opposition could only manage a .147 batting average. SCA Rookie - Jimmie Dimmick is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In April the Southie hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .284 average with 19 hits, 4 home runs and 11 RBIs. NEBL Analysis The NEBL functions as the place where veterans go to hang on to baseball, try to make it back to the CBO, and sometimes dominate the league. Fans of the NEBL have flocked to see some of their favorites from the CBO play into their 30s, so to speak. This season, several 30+ players are giving the fans' a lot of worth for their caps. Right now, only one division, the Maine Division, has a solo leader: Everett. The other divisions all have a tie: Vershire - Greenfield and Marlborough Mass - Plymouth, Fall River, and Brookline Connri - Needham and Foxborough NEBL Players of the Month PL Hitter - When Gorgeous George Davis stepped up to the plate in April he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Patriot League Batter of the Month award. The young Lowell right fielder posted a .371 batting average with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 13 runs. Davis also worked pitchers for 4 walks to post a .405 on-base percentage. YL Hitter - To Rick Pickle, age is just a number. He may be 35 years old, but the Natick Big Leaguers right fielder proved in April that he's still got what it takes to compete at an elite level. With a .409 average, 5 home runs, 14 RBIs, and 7 runs scored, Pickle had all the numbers that counted and has won the Yankee League Batter of the Month award. PL Pitcher - The Patriot League scribes have selected April's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Kurt Cats of Arlington. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 4-0 record. The Caps star performer made 4 starts with a 1.36 ERA and surrendered 18 hits in 33 innings. He struck out 24 and walked 10. YL Pitcher - In April Sandwich starter Lucas Frost confused hitters all month long. Last month's Yankee League Pitcher of the Month took home the trophy as he collected a 4-0 record in 5 starts. The 25-year-old Frost added 25 strikeouts in 38.2 innings and 9 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.86 ERA. Other clubs hit .211 against him. MML Analysis The MML has been the jumping spot for some of the younger talent once they "get it." While some still move into AAA territory in the NEBL, many of the top young guns will jump from here straight to the CBO ranks. There are a few, like Sactuary Hill's (Lex) C Flew Elling Tamir, who could see that jump happen this season, especially when teams expand to 40. All except one division currently has a solo leader. Division leaders are: Boggs - Covenant Murtagh - Revere Beach Williams - Hyde Park and Brockton Yastrzemski - Mayoral Shelter MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Honest Pierce certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the LL Batter of the Month award for April. The 21-year-old third baseman for the Marblehead Grenades hit .304 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and 12 runs scored. SL Hitter - At only 19 years of age, Redeye Perez could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Newton Behemoths, as April was one to remember for the shortstop and he has captured the Stars League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .325 with 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and 17 runs scored. LL Pitcher - A standout performance in April earned Denvarius Baseline the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Legends League. When his name was penciled in to start by the Littleton skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Ragers star racked up 4 wins and 1 loss. In 36.1 innings of work, Baseline limited opposing batters to 25 base hits and a .198 batting average. He notched 25 strikeouts, issued 22 walks and had a 2.23 ERA. SL Pitcher - There's something about a young rookie winning the Stars League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Andrew Seay, a 23-year-old starter for the Newton Behemoths. In April, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 2.41 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 33.2 innings, fanned 23 and held opposing teams to a .161 average. BMU Analysis The BMU is built for the college selections who are not ready to compete for a CBO shot. While some 18 and 19 year olds play here, many are in the 20-25 range. Some of these players may find themselves on a CBO roster sooner than later, like Union Hope's (SI) SP Catty Catton and his 0.79 ERA. There are three solo division leaders and one tie at the 16-game mark: Dark Hollow Pond - Parsons Asylum Cambridge - Union Hope and Walden Pond Downtown Boston - DB Tech Glowing Sea - Westing Estate BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - Big Dipper Grzenkowicz may be much younger than other hitters in the Commonwealth Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in April to win the Batter of the Month award. The 20-year-old Kingsport second baseman hit .333 with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 18 runs scored. MA Hitter - Greater Mass Vans fans believe they've got a talented young star in Broke Lawyer. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in April, as he hit .453 with 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and 13 runs scored. The end result was the center fielder being named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month. CA Pitcher - In April Union Hope starter Catty Catton mystified Commonwealth Association hitters and carried off the Pitcher of the Month honors by chalking up a 4-0 record in 4 starts. The 21-year-old Catton added 19 strikeouts in 34.1 innings and 6 walks to his season record and compiled a 0.79 ERA. Opposing batters hit .184 against him. MA Starter - Dan Nippard of the Nuclear Physicists bewildered opposing batters in April and was honored as the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month earlier today. The DB Tech starter sparkled last month with a 3-0 record and 1.42 ERA. He made 3 starts, tossed 25.1 innings and had 16 strikeouts. GBRL Analysis Ah, the youngsters fresh out of the CYL, and a few college players 22 or under. The GBRL is for the "rookies," the players with talent but not yet showing those skills at a major league level. The GBRL is full of potential talent looking to show off what they have, probably for a jump to AA (MML) or A (BMU) later in the season or next. One such player is Beantown's (Egr) SP Mike Searocker. The 4th-overall selection in the 2315 Draft, Searocker is already 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA in four starts and has struck out 47 in 27.0 innings of work. Egret may need him sooner than later! Division leaders in the GBRL through 16 games are Brunswick (Northeast), Switchboard (Northwest), Cumberland (Southeast), and Norwalk (Southwest). GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Brunswick Brainiacs fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in April. O.B. Jackson put up a remarkable month at the age of 20 and has been named the North League Batter of the Month. For the month, Jackson hit .465 with 9 home runs, 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored. SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 20 Slim Enchtull has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Norwalk Pickpockets star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .486 average with 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. NL Pitcher - Devon Cobbs hasn't been around long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning North League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice. In April the Brattleboro starter earned a 3-0 mark in 4 starts. He threw 28.1 innings, struck out 30 and compiled a solid 1.27 ERA. SL Pitcher - A 3-0 record with a 1.23 ERA is a good month for most any pitcher. The South League thought it was worthy of an award and named Quinlan Farley, starter for the Waterbury Cola Kings, April's Pitcher of the Month. He also held the opposition to a .126 average while posting 31 strikeouts in 29.1 innings.

Other conference leaders are: BCAC - Commonwealth MassCon - Greenfield College NoComm - Acadia College and New Hampshire SoComm - Yale Atlantic Sound - Mass Maritime CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League, Axe Dillworth put up some good numbers in April and earned the CCBL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Yale's offensive leaders with a .514 average in 25 games. He also racked up 9 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 30 runs scored. So far this season, Dillworth is batting .426 with 10 home runs, 36 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 80 hits in 188 at-bats, 20 walks and a .478 OBP. Dillworth has played in 45 games. Pitcher - It was a monstrous April for the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Month award winner, Brandon Sparrow of the Commonwealth University Terriers. He put up some mighty scary numbers. Sparrow recorded 8 wins and no losses in 9 starts. Throwing a total of 66 innings, he yielded 47 hits, mowed down 69 on strikes, gave up 13 walks and put up a solid ERA of 1.23 in a stellar month on the mound. To date this year, Sparrow has compiled a 11-0 mark with a 0.93 ERA in 12 starts. CYL Analysis There are eight games left in the regular season, and there are zero of the 32 playoffs spots filled. In all fairness, two teams, Lexington and Chicopee, have a Magic # of 1 to clinch a spot. They are each the best team in their region. Division leaders are: NR Franklin - Needham NR Emerson - Marblehead NR Fuller - Lexington NR Revere - Boston Common NR DuBois - Newburyport NR Longfellow - Far Harbor SR Adams - Coventry SR Alcott - Jamaica Plain SR Morse - Plymouth SR Attucks - Harwich SR Hancock - Old Lyme SR Bradberton - Chicopee CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Cam Hall made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the North Region this past month. The Lynn Pier Gamers left fielder shined through the month of April and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 15-year-old hit .550 with 17 home runs, 47 RBIs and 38 runs scored. On the year, Hall is hitting .482 with 67 hits, 22 home runs, 63 RBIs, .615 OBP and has scored 60 runs. SR Hitter - Skipper Beach has a lot going for him. The Nauset Beach third baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the South Region has just picked him as its top hitter for April. In 24 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .535 with 19 home runs, 45 RBIs and 39 runs scored. For the season, Beach is batting .467 with 78 hits and 24 home runs. He has scored 56 times and batted in 59. NR Pitcher - Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Coke Nut Silivan of the Newburyport Cubs. He captured the North Region Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in April. Silivan started 8 games, threw 59.1 innings, yielded 75 hits and logged a 6-0 record. He put down 75 batters on strikes, walked 6 and compiled a 3.49 ERA. Opposing teams batted .302 against him. Silivan has made 12 starts, tossed 94.1 innings, struck out 105 batters and walked 7. His record is 9-0 with a 2.58 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .274 batting average. SR Pitcher - When Sheridon Carr takes the mound, a West Quincy victory is usually the result. That was the case in April. That's why he was voted the South Region Pitcher of the Month. Carr throttled league hitters the whole month with an impressive 5-2 mark and 3.61 ERA in 7 starts. The Atomatoys star hurler also rung up 40 strikeouts in 52.1 innings. For the season, Carr has compiled a 7-3 record with a 2.97 ERA.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL and APL by Evan Guy 1 May 2316 NWL Picks: Victory, Orange The 2316 season is upon us! PAM has predicted that the Victory Cave Crickets and Orange Tourists will win their respective divisions and meet in the Nuka Series. Last season, Cherry defeated Grape in six games in the Nuka Series and then went on to defeat the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales of the Vim! League to win the Season Pass Association Series in six games. The Cave Crickets finished tied for 3rd place, and the Tourists finished in second place. PAM has Victory taking the North Bradberton Division by five games over Quantum and finishing at 49-41. Also, Orange is expected to finish at 49-41, edging both the Ghoulrillas and Dark by two games in what is expected to be a tight South Bradberton Division. For top hitter picks, PAM predicts that the Tourists' 1B Yorkie Tallsky will come out on top. Other contenders are Cherry's Genius Jerry Kordic, Tick Garrett, Swamp Dantin, and Everlast Barron, and Victory's A-Train Gilmore. Dantin was the winner of last season's Nuka King Award. Top pitcher picks start with a pair of Ghoulrillas in Fick Aragvsky and Chris Montgomery. Other contenders include the Nukalurks' Shady Sand and Tumble Viera, Grape's Kory DiLeva, and Wild's Blasphemy Perez. Quartz's Chris Yao won the Nuka Cannon Award last season. Montgomery won it in 2314. ---------------------------------------------------------- Vim! View News of the Vim! League and Its Affiliates by Jimmy Gresham 1 May 2316 Vim! League Predicted to Have the Best Season Ever! You know who is super duper extra wextra excited about the upcoming 2316 Vim! League season, the 16th season of the league? Me!!! Do you know why? Because this will be the best Vim! League season ever, far none! Last season was the best before and things were super competitive in the Vim! Series. In the end, the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales won it all, defeating the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers, 4 games to 3. Unfortunately, the Gwhales lost in the Season Pass Association Series to Cherry of the Nuka World League. This season, PAM has a surprise pick to be the Vim! League's best: the Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs. The Crabs are the only team in the league that has not been to a Vim! Series nor won a championship. At the beginning of the Vim! League, there were two other teams: the Brooke's Head Behemoths and Rayburn Point Patcheyes. Neither won a championship, but both played in the Vim! Series. The Behemoths were in the first one in 2301, losing to Far Harbor, 4-0. The Patcheyes lost to the Crawlers in 2303, 4 games to 2. Both teams were dissolved in 2304 and became Mount Desert Island League affiliates of the teams that defeated them in the ViM! Series. PAM also picked Dalton Farm to repeat as champions in the Fog Division. In 2315, their division title was their first since 2308. The Crawlers last won a title in 2306, the last of four-straight titles. Dalton Farm is tied with the Gwhales for most Vim! Series appearances (7) and leads in the most championships (4). Echo Lake is second with three titles. In the race for the Vim! MVP, won last season by Dalton Farm's Toppie Gunn (4th), PAM picks two Far Harbor players to battle at the top. 1B Mader Sierra and 3B Hazmatt Zuniga are the top hitters predicted, while the Crabs' 1B Bobba Fette, Eden Meadows' 1B Geecee Metal, and Acadian's Tuppy Ayon are expected to compete. Zuniga won the award in back-to-back seasons in 2313 and 2314. Fette won the Vim! MVP in 2312. The Vim! Top Arm also has a Ghoul Whale at the top, so why are they not the picks to repeat a title? In any case, the expected 2316 winner is the Gwhales' Kap Kooke. Other contenders include the Crawlers' Steady Mike Holmes and Phil Cecil, National Park's Darma Mollema, and the Acadians' Wearya Going. Cecil won the award last season, his second. Going won it in 2314, Holmes won it in 2313, and Kooke won it in 2312.

May 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 8 May 2316 Winning Balance? 16 Teams Above .500 We have just completed the four-week mark of the 2316 CBO season, and there is a bizarre arrangement of teams in the standings. Sixteen of the CBO's 28 teams currently hold a record of at least two games over .500. There is also a 4-22 team, and it is not the team that started 0-13. Here are the current team power rankings for the Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Bunker Hill 75ers (121.7, ++) 2) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (118.7, o) 3) Atom Cats (117.0, ++) 4) University Point Deathclaws (114.7, o) 5) Vault 81 Dwellers (111.7, o) 6) Cambridge Coursers (107.9, ++) 7) Malden Grognaks (107.7, --) 8) Diamond City Swatters (105.7, --) 9) Easy Town Assaultrons (104.9, -) 10) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (104.9, ++) 11) Spectacle Island Reapers (100.9, -) 12) Lexington Synths (100.8, ++) 13) Concord Radstags (99.9, -) 14) Goodneighbor Hancocks (97.8, +) 15) Nahant Celtics (97.8, --) 16) Quincy Gunners (95.8, -) 17) County Crossing Bloodbugs (91.2, ++) 18) Oberland T-51s (89.0, -) 19) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (84.2, -) 20) The Slog Ghouls (82.2, o) 21) Roxbury Rad Sox (81.1, -) 22) FHE Yao Guai (73.0, ++) 23) Salem Witch Hats (70.3, -) 24) Egret Ninjas (64.3, ++) 25) Southie Brews (57.3, --) 26) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (52.4, o) 27) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (52.4, --) 28) Starlight Killers (7.7, o) Brotherhood League The BL is the tightest league in the CBO with the 1st place team, Malden, leading the 7th place team, Salem, by only six games. No team has had an outstanding or disappointing 10-game stretch, with County Crossing currently holding the best mark at 7-3 and The Slog the worst stretch at 4-6. In order of the league: the Grognaks, Easy Town, Nahant, a tie among Nordhagen Beach, the Slog, and the Bloodbugs for 4th place, and the Witch Hats in 7th. The Hats did not expect to be in 7th place. In fact, with five straight playoff appearances, including the Brotherhood League crown in 2315, Salem expects to be at the top. One problem is that two star players, 1B Brian DeLong and 2B Seemly Sam Tucker, are out with injuries and will not be back before June. Salem is 10th in runs scored with CF Andy Dogleash (.375/2/12) being the only player on offense truly standing out. On the mound, the Witch Hats have allowed 125 runs (11th in NCA). Ace SP Paul Stains (2-3, 3.23) is pitching well but not getting run support. SP Gary Harvard (4-1, 2.87) has pitched well and has had run support. CL Deor Woodcutter (4 SV, 2.63) is doing OK, but the Bullpen ERA (3.94) is 11th in the NCA. Institute League Five teams in the Institute League are in it, while the last two, especially the last one, should consider blowing it all up. Bunker Hill is comfortably at the top with the NCA's best record and a tie with University Point and Glowing Sea for the CBO's best record. Three teams--Fort Hagen, Concord, and Cambridge--are tied for 2nd at two games back. Lexington is the final team above .500, while Sunshine Tidings at 8-18 and Starlight at 4-22 are out of the running in 2316. The Killers really need to blow it up. On a 10-game losing streak and with a .154 clip, Starlight is on pace to blow away Cambridge's record 30-100 (.231) season in 2310. At this pace, the Killers would be about 21-109 at season's end. The most apparent struggle is that the entire team cannot hit. At 14th in the NCA in most offensive categories, including runs scored (51 or 1.96/game) and average (,222). 2B King Hippo (.216/3/9) is the only qualifying player batting over .200. 1B Jordan Young (.339/4/10) has had more time recently and should play every day. On the mound, Starlight is 12th in runs allowed (126). Ace Mercury Morris (1-2, 2.23) and fourth pitcher Sam Molina (1-4, 2.76) have pitched well but need run support to win games. Minutemen League We already mentioned that the Deathclaws are tied for the CBO's best record, giving them a 1.5-game lead over 2nd-place Atom. Spectacle Island, Goodneighbor, and Quincy are all above .500. Southie is in 6th, and Jamaica Plain (8-5 in the past two weeks) has recovered but still maintains the SCA's worst record. For the Claws, the beginning of their demise has been paused. While statistically speaking, they are not dominating, the Deathclaws are showing strength across all aspects of their team. On offense, University Point is 3rd in scoring, thanks in part to being tied for 2nd in home runs (22). No player is killing it in average, with SS Rock Rampage (.294/3/15) leading in average and tied for 2nd in home runs. Both CF Ziggy Stardust and LF Pop Dylan are on the injury list, taking away two good bats. 1B Barker Cocoa (.258/3/13) has seen a drop in average but is still a leader on offense. For pitching, the Claws are 5th in runs allowed (95). Digger Vadim (1-2, 3.70) and Alex Alexson (2-0, 2.31) have been the two best starters. CL Swampy Tamraguri (5 SV, 1.08) has been outstanding. Railroad League There are only three teams above .500 in the Railroad League, but those three teams are in a raging battle. The Radscorpions are tied with the Claws for the top record in the SCA (and CBO). Vault 81 and Diamond City are just a game back. Oberland is at .500, while all of Roxbury, FHE, and Egret have a lot of work to do to get in the playoff discussion. Glowing Sea may be ready after making the playoffs two of the past three seasons. The Scorpions are currently in 1st place thanks in large part to good pitching, currently 2nd in runs allowed (85) and 1st in Starters ERA (2.63). All four starters have a sub-4.00 ERA with Alex Language (2-1, 1.13) and Hot Lips Houlihan (3-2, 2.55) have been the best. The bullpen has not been great with CL Mar Gotfenning (9 SV, 6.43) struggling. RP Pink Floyd (3-0, 0.57) has been the best there. Hitting is not as good and will need to get much better for a playoff run. The Scorpions are 12th in runs scored (91) and have struggled to get on base, ranking 14th in average (.239) and OBP (.297). CF Enigma Montgomery (.258/4/17) has been the best all-around hitter. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 1 - Not every ball that came off Jacob Tarberry's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Malden Grognaks. For his exploits, Tarberry was named this week's North Charles Association Player of the Week award. The Malden third baseman put up 13 hits in 32 at-bats and 3 home runs while hitting .406 with 13 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This season, Tarberry is hitting .357 with 30 hits, 6 home runs, 27 RBIs, scored 20 runs and played in 20 games. McMack Bingham demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Atom first baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .524 average (11-for-21) with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. Bingham is swinging at a .354 pace on the year with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has played in 17 games. May 8 - Jim Geiger is respected by most Cambridge Coursers fans for his no-frills style of play. The 29-year-old right fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .417 average (10-for-24) with 1 home run, 9 RBIs and 10 runs scored. So far this year in 25 games, Geiger is hitting .375 with 1 home run, 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored. When it came to hitting the baseball, Missile Crews had few peers in the South Charles Association this past week. The talented center fielder for FHE tagged opposing pitchers for a .591 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 13 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 homers, 8 runs scored and 7 RBIs. This year, Crews has hit at a .344 clip with 33 hits, 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored. CBO Noteworthy News April 28 - The manager of the Atom Cats said the sport will be losing one of its "truly great leaders" at the end of the year. That's because 39-year-old Shane Stabb has decided to retire at year's end. "This is the type of guy you want on your team," the manager said. "He does everything the right way and leads by example. Our organization will miss him." Stabb is hitting at a .302 rate over his 1803-game career. Lifetime he has 375 doubles, 14 triples and 191 home runs with 871 RBIs and 868 runs scored. April 29 - Easy Town third baseman Well Done Dungan finished the day with 2 hits in 4 at-bats and 2000 career hits. The Assaultrons also finished off the Silver Shroud, 8-6. The 38-year-old Dungan added his name to the list of players in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization 2000-hit club. Looking at his career stats, Dungan is batting .267 and has totaled 28 home runs. April 30 - Spectacle Island CL Mean David Green was hospitalized during a Reapers road trip in Diamond City with apparent food poisoning. Green felt ill after eating street food following the April 29 game between the Reapers and Swatters. On Sunday morning, he had to be carried to a local clinic where he was treated for a "severe bug." Green remains hospitalized at the time of this writing. April 30 - Aesed Hayjen said years of hard work have taken their toll on him physically, and he's decided it's now time to retire. "I don't know any way other than full throttle, I've always been that way," he said. "Going so hard for so many years might have cost me some time on my career, but I don't regret a thing." The University Point Deathclaws first baseman is leaving the game behind at age 38. A check of his lifetime stats shows Hayjen has a career .313 average with 2226 hits, 321 doubles, 50 triples, 353 home runs and 1081 RBIs. To date he has scored 1347 runs, walked 715 times and stolen 344 bases. May 2 - The Goodneighbor Hancocks have talked about making some changes to their uniforms for the 2316 season. The Hancocks have had the same uniforms since the beginning of Minutemen League play in 2296. Owner John Hancock has stated that he loves the colors but wants some more edge to the jersey. We are sure companies out there will make something Hancock loves. Or, does not hate. Whichever comes first. May 2 - Scruffy Taguchi of the Vault 81 Dwellers will go down as one of the league's legendary pitchers after his 11-1 win today against the Diamond City Swatters. "It felt like it was a postseason game, one out at a time," said his manager. "It was something special to see." The 36-year-old Taguchi picked up his 200th career victory at The Great Green Jewel. He hurled 5.2 innings, gave up 8 hits and registered 3 strikeouts along with 1 walk. "I've worked a long time for this," Taguchi said. "I can't believe it's really here. It feels great!" Taguchi has a lifetime record of 200 wins and 152 losses and a 3.76 ERA.

BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 14 May 2316 CCBL Regular Season Ends, Sturbridge University #1 Overall Seed Another regular season is in the books, and the playoffs will begin in a couple of days. It will be a battle of survival -- and the final survivor will be the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League champions. The "haves" will be in their radiant glory, playing for the league title, while the "have-nots" will be at home, sitting by the hot stove until springtime. The quest for the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League College Series championship gets underway today. The regular season is now over and the so-called "second season" begins. For fan and player alike this is the sweetest part of the season -- the Play-in Round. The baseball experts have made their predictions, but teams will do it or die on the diamond. The best team doesn't always win -- sometimes it's the lucky team that is fated to win the crown -- sometimes it's the team that gets hot late in the season that wins -- and sometimes talent wins out and takes the glory. The winner will be one of these teams: #1 Sturbridge Mighty Men (BYE) #17 Northeastern Huskies vs #16 Holy Cross Crusaders #24 Cape Cod University Sharks vs #9 Providence College Friars #8 Quincy College Masons (BYE) #5 Greenfield College Greenies (BYE) #21 ECSU Warriors vs #12 UConn Yankees #20 Tufts University Jumbos vs #13 Revere College Riders #4 Mass Maritime Buccaneers (BYE) #3 Yale Bulldogs (BYE) #19 Bridgeport Purple Knights vs #14 Acadia College Minks #22 Vermont Tech Maples vs #11 Assumption Greyhounds #6 New Hampshire Wildcats (BYE) #7 Winthrop College Guardians (BYE) #23 Curry College Colonels vs #10 Nahant Marine Institute Aquas #18 Brown Bears vs #15 UMass Minutemen #2 Commonwealth University Terriers (BYE)

May 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 22 May 2316 Fort Hagen, Vault 81 Hot; Atop CBO Both teams will be featured in our league breakdowns, so we do not want to give away too much here. What you need to know, though, is that 38 games in, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and Vault 81 Dwellers are both the CBO's hottest teams and their current best teams, according to records and power rankings. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Vault 81 Dwellers (135.4, ++) 2) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (126.4, -) 3) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (112.9, +) 4) Malden Grognaks (112.9, ++) 5) Bunker Hill 75ers (111.8, --) 6) Atom Cats (108.1, --) 7) Quincy Gunners (107.2, -) 8) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (104.5, ++) 9) Diamond City Swatters (102.2, -) 10) Easy Town Assaultrons (102.2, --) 11) Cambridge Coursers (101.5, +) 12) County Crossing Bloodbugs (96.0, ++) 13) Concord Radstags (90.7, --) 14) Roxbury Rad Sox (90.3, ++) 15) University Point Deathclaws (89.7, -) 16) Lexington Synths (87.0, +) 17) Salem Witch Hats (85.5, ++) 18) Nahant Celtics (83.0, --) 19) Goodneighbor Hancocks (81.3, --) 20) The Slog Ghouls (79.5, -) 21) Spectacle Island Reapers (78.3, --) 22) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (75.1, ++) 23) Oberland T-51s (73.5, --) 24) FHE Yao Guai (72.9, --) 25) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (72.1, -) 26) Egret Ninjas (69.1, --) 27) Southie Brews (58.6, -) 28) Starlight Killers (19.4, o) Brotherhood League With a weekend series win over Easy Town, the Malden Grognaks have taken over 1st place by a game over the Assaultrons. Nordhagen Beach is the only other team above .500, with County Crossing, Nahant, The Slog, and Salem all within six games of 1st place in the CBO's tightest league. The Celtics are on a current five-game losing streak that has dropped them to a tie for 4th and currently out of a wildcard spot in the playoff race. Nahant is probably getting closer to their true talent, currently 7th in runs scored (156) and tied for 10th in runs allowed (174). On offense, CF Josh Peerson (.328/5/24) has been outstanding and won a Player of the Week award. On the mound, there is a mixed bag with the Starters ERA (3.64) ranking 7th in what has been a pitcher's year. Ace Lacky Luster (3-2, 3.14) has been decent, while 4th starter, Goody Two Shoes Robertson (6-1, 1.37) looks to be in the Vim! Pitcher Award race. Institute League Like the BL, the IL had a weekend series for 1st place with Fort Hagen winning the last two to take the series and IL lead over Bunker Hill. Cambridge and Concord are also both above .500, with Lexington at .500, Sunshine Tidings 10 back, and Starlight 19 games back with a .158 winning percentage. The Shroud are tied with the Party Boys for the second-best 10-game stretch at 8-2 and now possess both the NCA's best record and a tie with the Dwellers for the CBO's best record (25-13). Fort Hagen is 2nd in runs scored (186) and 6th in runs allowed (144), showing that statistically they belong near the top. SS Nauseous Revere (.307/8/24/6 SB) is second on the team in average and first in homers, RBI, and stolen bases. On the mound, both La'Ray Kalel (4-2, 2.74) and Pollox Troye (6-1, 2.62) have been outstanding for the 4th-best starters (2.97). Closer Max Grove (12 SV, 3.38) has shown his age some but there are no better options currently in the role. Minutemen League Both Atom and Quincy have been hot as of late, while University Point went cold to drop from 1st to 3rd. The Cats lead the Gunners by a half-game. Each of Goodneighbor, Spectacle Island, Jamaica Plain, and Southie are below .500. The Brews currently hold the SCA's worst record and look to be left behind compared to their fellow 2310 expansion brethren. Southie is the only of the four currently below .500 and would pick 2nd (Cool Papa Cornwell? Malik Goodneighbor? Honey Badger Matthews?) if the draft were held today. Southie is 12th in runs scored (132) and 8th in runs allowed (161). On offense, the best hitter has been 1B Keen Sugiura (.322/7/18) who leads the team in average and home runs and is second behind RF Jimmie Dimmick (.237/6/20) in RBI. Three pitchers have sub-4.00 ERAs, led by ace Buzzcut McDonald (3-1, 3.26), but that means the Brews are only 6th in Starters ERA (3.38). Closer Killian Austin (2 SV, 2.16) took over for Hutch Wellspring (3 SV, 1-4, 7.71), who was not getting the job done. Railroad League As mentioned, Vault 81 is the CBO's hottest team, winning nine straight headed into today. The Dwellers hold a two-game lead over Glowing Sea and a three-game lead over Diamond City. The rest of the RL--Roxbury, Oberland, FHE, and Egret--are below .500. Vault 81 was not expected to make the playoffs when preseason predictions came out. Right now, though, the defending champions are by record and statistics the best team in baseball. Their demise predictions have proven to be premature. The Dwellers are 1st in the SCA in just about every offensive category, including runs scored (194). They are also 1st in runs allowed (113) and Starters ERA (2.61). Two giants with the bat are RF Pockets Wrench (.336/8/33) and C Phantom Vargas (.336/7/27). Harry Byrd (.310/4/21) has been contributing more than expected for the 38-year-old. On the mound, Zack Million (5-1, 1.78) has been one of the best, though nowhere near Glowing Sea's Alex Language (4-2, 1.26, 1st in the CBO in ERA, WAR, Ks, WHIP, FIP, rWAR, BABIP, and Opponents Avg.). Back to the Dwellers, Scruffy Taguchi (6-2, 2.50) and Exxie Summerset (5-2, 2.48) have been excellent, too. RP Clutch Hand Morello (4-1, 1.61) have been the best out of the bullpen. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 15 - Josh Peerson has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 23-year-old center fielder of the Nahant Celtics had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Peerson batted .536 with 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run and 6 RBIs. This season, Peerson has hit at a .353 clip with 23 RBIs, 5 home runs and 19 runs scored. He has played in 31 games. Egret sports fans can't stop singing the praises of Deez Phantom, who has been selected the South Charles Association Player of the Week. Phantom was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .560 average (14-for-25), 5 RBIs and 2 home runs. This year, Phantom has hit at a .478 clip with 19 RBIs, 3 home runs and 17 runs scored. May 22 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Esau Babz, the Bunker Hill 75ers 22-year-old center fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 9 hits in 22 at-bats, compiling a .409 average with 4 home runs and 6 RBIs. For the season, Babz is hitting at a .315 clip with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and has scored 28 runs. He has 46 hits, 7 walks and a .344 on-base percentage. This week South Charles Association pitching was a feast fit for a king and Brandon Larsonist really made the most of it -- ripping them royally. The talented Jamaica Plain hitting machine produced a .333 batting average, 4 home runs, 8 hits in 24 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 10 runs. That kind of hitting earned him the SCA Player of the Week honors. This season in 38 games, Larsonist has hit at a .235 clip with 31 hits, 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored. CBO Noteworthy News May 9 - An update on Mean David Green, the Spectacle Island closer. He is having complications related to the food borne illness he obtained on April 30 and has now been ruled out for the year while doctors work on saving his life. Researchers investigating the cause have not pinpointed what the illness is, but they have concluded that Green ate at Power Noodles just outside the Great Green Jewel. May 14 - Concord left fielder Jannar Arbor had a stellar day at Oberland Stadium. His 4-hit day included a cycle and 2 runs batted in and was instrumental in the 12-8 Radstags victory over the Oberland T-51s. "I felt just about perfect up there," Arbor said. Jannar Arbor hit a solo-shot off Zaire Inquisitor in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit a sac fly in the 7th and singled in the 9th. A look at his season totals shows Arbor with 3 home runs, .245 BA, .304 OBP, 17 RBIs and 14 runs scored. May 18 - With his eight start over two squads, the Union Hope Lifegivers (A) and Pawtucket Pips (AA), Spectacle Island's 2nd-round pick, SP Catty Catton (Winthrop College) is now 7-0 with a 0.88 ERA in the BMU and 1.00 ERA in the MML. Scouts believe Catton is doing everything necessary to move up to the CBO, and the OSA has predicted Catton to spend some time with the Reapers this season, though that may come in August. While SP Paul Bird (3-0, 1.08 with Union Hope in three starts) is the top prospect in the Spectacle Island system, Catton may be more pro-ready. Some OSA scouts believe that Catton should be starting over current Reapers 4th starter Dew Ober (2-3, 7.40) while others think he should premier in 2317.

BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 23 May 2316 Harwich Takes Youth Series And that was all she wrote on the 2316 Youth Series. With a 7-6 victory in walk-off fashion, the Harwich Fishheads swept aside the Marblehead Mess 2-0 and set off a much-anticipated celebration. In the bottom of the 9th with the game tied 6-6, A’Trey-U Jones led off with a single, followed by singles but Kris Marble and Alex Somer to load the bases with no one out. After Mess pitcher Devonian Yoo struck out Boom Boom Harris, Harwich’s Hector Tashjian hit a deep fly to center, scoring Jones on the sacrifice fly. "It was a lot of hard work," said winning manager Chris Green. "But it was good hard work and a lot of fun along the way." Despite the loss, Marblehead’s Ares Ng was named Game MVP. Ng went 3 for 5 with a triple, two home runs, two runs, and six RBI. The Fishheads were all business this year, with their eyes fixed squarely on the goal of winning the team's 2nd championship. The champs finished the regular season 33-16 and claimed first place in the South Region Crispus Attucks Division. "We had our doubters along the way," series MVP Brady MacCoard said with a smile. "But we made them eat crow today." MacCoard was 5 for 11 (.455) in the two-game series with five home runs, six runs, and six RBI. In Game One, MacCoard was 3 for 6 with three home runs, three runs, and four RBI. In Game Two, he went 2 for 5 with two home runs, three runs, and two RBI. In Game One of the Series, MacCoard hit three home runs as the Fishheads won, 14-8, to seize a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 Youth Series. Harwich’s five-run 6th inning made a tight 8-7 game at that point into a blowout 13-7 lead. Each team scored one more run after the 6th. "We're one game closer to our goal," Harwich manager Chris Green said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that." Marblehead’s best effort in Game One came from freshman Gage Aintfull who went 2 for 4 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI.

June 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2316 The June 1 Super Post CBO Top Performances Hitters - Sunshine Tidings' SS Down Home Dahl was the recipient of May's Top Hitting Performance after a game score of 98 in the Chemists' 21-9 victory over Nahant on May 23. Dahl was 3 for 4 with a home run, two walks, four runs, and five RBI. Dahl's score was seven points behind Keen Sugiura's April 13 performance for top performance overall. Pitchers - Not even a no-hitter in May could top Concord's Kevin Gauzeman's performance on May 26 with a game score of 93, the best of the season. Despite Derek Green's no-hitter on May 27, Gauzeman's May 26 win over Salem, 6-0, was better. Gauzeman threw a complete-game, two-hitter, walking none and striking out 10 in 108 pitches. Gauzeman moved into a full-time starter position this season and is 6-2 with a 2.01 ERA in 12 starts in 2316. CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 22 Bubbler Mayhem has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Cambridge Coursers star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .394 average with 7 home runs, 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored. So far this season, Mayhem has hit .375 with 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 26 times. SCA Hitter - Foo Fieterz, the Oberland left fielder, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .364 batting average with 36 hits, 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 17 times. That kind of hitting earned him the South Charles Association Batter of the Month honors for May. Fieterz on the season is batting .364 with 9 home runs. His totals include 44 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has played in 44 games. NCA Pitcher - Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 5-0 with a 1.85 ERA, Scooter Yaghmour was selected as May's North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated Cambridge starter as he left the clubhouse. "I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start." Scooter Yaghmour definitely contributed to the club. He had 7 starts, throwing 48.2 innings, striking out 36, and holding the opposition to a .207 average. Up to now Yaghmour has recorded a record of 6-1. In 11 starts he has fanned 67 batters in 79 innings with a 2.05 ERA. SCA Pitcher - Last month was a very successful month for Make Money of Quincy. So successful that he has been honored as the Pitcher of the Month in the South Charles Association. Money shut down league hitters in fine fashion, rounding out May with an impressive 4-1 mark and 1.17 ERA in 7 starts with 44 strikeouts in 53.2 innings. In 12 starts this season, Money has crafted a 6-2 record with a 1.80 ERA. NCA Rookie - Zara Zapper is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In May the Nahant hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .284 average with 27 hits, 4 home runs and 20 RBIs. So far on the season, Zapper is hitting .286 with 6 home runs, 32 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has 46 hits and played in 44 games. SCA Rookie - Dropper Millieu of the Diamond City Swatters performed his craft to perfection to cop May's Rookie of the Month Award in the South Charles Association. He starred with a 2-1 record while putting up a 2.45 ERA last month. Millieu made 7 starts, tossed 44 innings and struck out 15. In 12 starts this season, Millieu has gathered 3 wins while suffering 4 losses. He has pitched 74.1 innings, allowed 71 hits, struck out 33 and has a 3.27 ERA. NEBL Analysis Teams have played 48 games now. While the divisions are still tight, there are leaders in each of the four NEBL divisions: Medford, Burlington, Sandwich, and Bradberton. NEBL Players of the Month PL Hitter - Crimson Carpenter has a lot going for him. The Medford first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Patriot League has just picked him as its top hitter for May. In 26 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .337 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 12 runs scored. Currently Carpenter is batting .317 with 6 home runs and 36 RBIs. YL Hitter - Fall River Rippers fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May. Adavald Vigilant put up a remarkable month at the age of 22 and has been named the Yankee League Batter of the Month. For the month, Vigilant hit .355 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Currently Vigilant has 13 home runs and a .318 batting average. PL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month has been picked and the Patriot League trophy went to Clifton hurler Larry Gomez for his strong performance in May. During the month, Gomez was impressive with a 1.16 ERA and 3 wins and 3 losses. In 54.1 innings he struck out 48 and gave up 33 hits and 12 walks. For the season, Gomez has compiled a 3-3 record with a 1.16 ERA. YL Pitcher - Torcan Frawley really strutted his stuff in May with 6 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Yankee League. The Sandwich starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 53.1 innings of work, Frawley limited opposing batters to 37 base hits and a .196 batting average. He totaled 49 strikeouts, issued 13 walks and had a 2.02 ERA. His record this year is 8-2 in 11 starts and Frawley has a 1.81 ERA. MML Analysis None of the four divisions are tied as we enter June. Division leaders in the MML are Covenant, Sanctuary Hills, Brockton, and Mayoral Shelter. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - The premier hitter in the Legends League in May was Sanctuary Hills left fielder Wilde Game. For his standout play, he was voted the Batter of the Month. Game was selected after batting .268, hitting 6 home runs, scoring 18 runs and driving in 22. Thus far this year, Game has hit .264 with 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. SL Hitter - Weston DeGurlz was declared the Stars League Batter of the Month today. Mayoral Shelter's first baseman stroked 30 hits in 96 at-bats for a .312 average in May. He also hit 7 home runs, drove in 18 and scored 13 runs. DeGurlz is batting .317 with 13 home runs and 31 RBIs this season. LL Pitcher - The Legends League announced today that Hard John Horvath has been chosen the league's Pitcher of the Month. The Watertown starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 3-1 record. In May Horvath chalked up a 0.97 ERA in 46.1 innings with 26 strikeouts and 19 walks. So far this season, Horvath has 4 wins and 1 loss and a 0.83 ERA. SL Pitcher - Hull starter Artoo Rasmussen claimed the Stars League Pitcher of the Month Award today with his strong performance in May. The 23-year-old starter tossed 46.2 innings of solid baseball, putting up a 1.74 ERA, 33 strikeouts and a 5-0 record in 6 starts. Rasmussen has fashioned a 6-3 mark for the season, 2.16 ERA and thrown 75 innings in 10 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .265 against him. BMU Analysis Except for one division where there is only a one-game difference between 1st and 2nd place, most of the divisions have some distance. In the Downtown Boston Division, DB Tech has a one-game lead over Charles View. Westing Estate has a four-game lead in the Glowing Sea Division, while Parsons Asylum leads the Dark Hollow Pond Division and Union Hope leads the Cambridge Division by six games each. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - Steady Eddy Brett made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Commonwealth Association this past month. The Kingsport Moon Monkeys third baseman shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 19-year-old hit .330 with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and 18 runs scored. At present, Brett is batting .305 with 47 hits and 5 home runs. He has knocked in 21 runs and scored 32 times. MA Hitter - Ju Ronkainen put together a good May to earn the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Rockland officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Snipers first baseman posted a .300 batting average with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored. This year, Ronkainen is hitting .300 with 12 home runs. CA Pitcher - Mo Green will be bringing May's Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Lynn Woods. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping. Green started 6 games, going 5-1 with 36 strikeouts in 43 innings as he compiled his 1.05 ERA. This season, Green has fanned 54 in 72 innings and collected a 6-3 record with a 1.25 ERA. MA Pitcher - The Poseidon Energy Mongrels celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that James Cully had been selected as May's Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month. Cully's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Cully said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Cully tossed 41.1 innings last month, holding opponents to a .220 average while striking out 30 batters. In 6 starting assignments he came away with a 4-1 record, putting together an ERA of 2.18. So far this year, Cully has a 5-1 record with a 2.66 ERA. GBRL Analysis In a full sweep of minors divisions, there are single leaders in each of the GBRL's regional divisions. Leaders in standings placement order are Brunswick, Brattleboro, Cumberland, and Danbury. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Portland Pops fans believe they've got a talented young star in Double Lonnie Edwin. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .373 with 17 home runs, 40 RBIs and 32 runs scored. The end result was the catcher being named the North League Batter of the Month. For the season, Edwin has hit .361 with 25 home runs and 64 RBIs. He has played in 36 games and scored 46 times. SL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Zoo Coomz set the league afire in May and took home the South League Batter of the Month award. The Waterbury left fielder posted a steady .400 batting average, 10 home runs, 18 RBIs and 32 runs. Currently Coomz is batting .400 with 10 home runs, 18 RBIs and 32 runs scored. NL Pitcher - Tusk Bruener was firing on all cylinders in the month of May with 5 wins as he steamrolled all North League opposition on his way to the Pitcher of the Month award. During the month Bruener was 5-0 with a 4.60 ERA. He made 8 starts, tossed 45 innings and had 64 strikeouts. Bruener has made 12 starts, tossed 64 innings, struck out 89 batters and walked 24. His record is 6-1 with a 5.77 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .218 batting average. SL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the South League winner is Cumberland hurler, Pin Luu. For his standout performances in May he has been named the league's best pitcher. During the month, Luu excelled with a 2.89 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 53 innings he struck out 67 and gave up 39 hits and 26 walks. Luu has a 4-3 season record so far. In 10 starts, he has fanned 86 batters in 67 innings with a 3.76 ERA.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL and APL by Evan Guy 1 June 2316 Victory, Cherry Early Leaders in NWL The Victory Cave Crickets and Cherry Ghoulrillas are early leaders in the NWL. Each team has won the last two championships: Victory in 2314 and Cherry in 2315. Both teams were in the 2314 Nuka Series. Quantum and Wild are the only other teams in the NWL with a winning record.. Dark is 6-21 and well on its way to its fifth-straight 4th place finish. At only 23 years of age, A-Train Gilmore could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Victory Cave Crickets, as May was one to remember for the center fielder and he has captured the Nuka World League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .390 with 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 36 runs scored. The Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month honor has been given to Torbjorn Shattershield of Quantum for a superlative month. "I actually never wanted to be a pitcher," Shattershield told reporters when asked who he credits for his pitching ability. "I was an outfielder until high school and on the third day of tryouts my coach came up and said, 'Son you couldn't hit a lick even if we put it on a tee for ya.' Well, that ticked me off, so I decided if I couldn't hit I wanted to make sure no one else could either and so here I am." It all turned out for the best as the Quantum starter notched a 4-0 record with a 1.85 ERA last month. He made 6 starts and struck out 23 in 43.2 innings. Most everybody across the league agree that Bishop Fuller is one fine rookie pitcher. And today the Nuka World League confirmed it by announcing he is this month's recipient of the Rookie of the Month award. In May the 22-year-old Victory starter proved his worth by racking up 3 wins and no losses with a 0.00 ERA as he struck out 13 in 11.1 innings and held opponents to a .209 batting average. In the Amusement Park League, the Red Rocket Radrats and Dunmore Ferris Wheels are early leaders. Three teams have the league's worst record at 4-7. For a rookie just breaking in, Louie Bagel certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the APL Batter of the Month award for May. The 23-year-old catcher for the Dunmore Ferris Wheels hit .425 with 6 home runs, 17 RBIs and 10 runs scored. In May Red Rocket starter Marquis Bristow mystified Amusement Park League hitters and carried off the Pitcher of the Month honors by chalking up a 3-0 record in 3 starts. The 21-year-old Bristow added 7 strikeouts in 18.1 innings and 9 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.47 ERA. Opposing batters hit .254 against him. ---------------------------------------------------------- Vim! View News of the Vim! League and Its Affiliates by Jimmy Gresham 1 June 2316 Dalton Farm, Acadia Lead Divisions After First Month There was a lot of hope throughout the ViM! League in the preseason, but it appears that two teams are above the rest. Dalton Farm leads the Fog Division by 3.5 games with a league-best 18-8 record. Acadia is 17-9 and 4.5 up in the Harbor Division. The Acadians were picked to finish in 4th place, while the team picked 1st, Cranberry Island, is in 4th place with a 10-16 record. The Hermit Crabs were seeking their first division crown. Geecee Metal really smoked the ball in May on his way to Batter of the Month honors in the Vim! League. The Eden Meadows first baseman hit .380 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored to round out his great month. In May, the elite pitcher in the Vim! League was Pinch Guidebook, thanks to some great numbers coming out of the bullpen. The Acadia relief specialist posted a 3-1 mark and an ERA of 0.59 in 15.1 innings with 13 strikeouts and 8 saves in 8 save opportunities. From Podunk to Paradise sounds like the story of Jackie Jones of the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers. It has been a sudden rise to fame for this first-year hurler. As of today, he is the Vim! League Rookie of the Month. Jones was certainly on top of his game in May. He started 5 games and threw 42 innings, striking out 33 and walking 14. In all, he compiled a 4-1 record with a sparkling 1.50 ERA, holding the opposition to a .158 batting average. The Mount Desert Island League is only 11 games into the 2316 season, so teams have yet to make any real distance. In the Small Bertha Division, Rock Point and Brooke's Head are knotted at 6-5. In the Old Longfellow Division, Kitteredge leads by two games with an 8-3 record. Even though he is a newcomer to Mount Desert Island League, Cameron Reams put up some good numbers in May and earned the MDIL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Kitteredge's offensive leaders with a .349 average in 11 games. He also racked up 7 home runs, 17 RBIs, and 14 runs scored. May was a very good month for Fried Tato Rice of the Kitteredge Rad Rabbits. He held opposing hitters for a .140 average and took home the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month award. In 2 starts he claimed a 2-0 record as he put up a 1.12 ERA and struck out 5 in 16 innings.

June 2316
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 4 June 2316 Greenfield College Claims CCBL Title The Greenfield College Greenies were good enough to get past the Commonwealth University Terriers at George Grennell Jr. Stadium today and secure the 1st championship in franchise history. "When you wear Greenies on your shirt, you're good at something," Greenfield College skipper Slick Ricky Silva told the press. Greenies catcher Lackey Bozek was named MVP of the series after he went .450 with 2 home runs and 3 runs batted in. "It feels totally incredible," Bozek said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment." The new champions capped off a great season with a 3-2 victory over the Terriers to win the College Series 3-1. Commonwealth University was playing in its third College Series in three years. The Terriers won the title in 2314.

June 2316
Trying to catch the forum working when I have the chance to post!
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 5 June 2316 CBO Analysis Most teams have now played 51 games in the 2316 season. In this 40% mark of the season, we are starting to see patterns of success and failure. There is also a new and surprising king of the hill in the CBO: Malden. At 33-18, the Grognaks possess the CBO’s top record. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Malden Grognaks (122.5, o) 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (117.9, o) 3) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (115.8, ++) 4) Diamond City Swatters (109.8, ++) 5) The Slog Ghouls (104.2, ++) 6) Bunker Hill 75ers (102.4, --) 7) Quincy Gunners (101.4, o) 8) Cambridge Coursers (100.8, +) 9) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (99.8, --) 10) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (99.4, --) 11) University Point Deathclaws (98.2, ++) 12) Goodneighbor Hancocks (95.8, o) 13) Easy Town Assaultrons (94.2, -) 14) Lexington Synths (93.2, --) 15) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (92.8, ++) 16) Atom Cats (91.2, --) 17) Oberland T-51s (88.2, +) 18) Salem Witch Hats (84.8, ++) 19) Egret Ninjas (81.6, ++) 20) Roxbury Rad Sox (81.2, ++) 21) Spectacle Island Reapers (80.8, -) 22) Nahant Celtics (79.8, --) 23) County Crossing Bloodbugs (78.2, --) 24) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (75.6, -) 25) Southie Brews (75.6, +) 26) Concord Radstags (73.8, --) 27) FHE Yao Guai (55.4, --) 28) Starlight Killers (17.3, o) Brotherhood League As mentioned, the Grognaks are best in the CBO and hold a three-game lead over second-place Nordhagen Beach. Easy Town and The Slog are knotted up in 3rd place, while all of Salem, Nahant, and Country Crossing are bunched together just below .500. All teams in the BL can consider themselves very much in the playoff race at this point of the season. For the Party Boys, the turnaround back to a contending team may be complete. After being a perpetual playoff team in the first 15 seasons of the CBO (2298-2312), the Boys have now missed the playoffs in three-straight seasons, falling as far as 6th place last season. This season, Nordhagen Beach is nine games above .500 thanks a lot to being 2nd in the NCA in runs allowed (172) with the 3rd-best Starters ERA (2.92) and the best Bullpen ERA (2.82). Thirty-eight-year-old Ugio Church (6-2, 2.04) has been masterful, with great support from Mister Burns (8-2, 2.94) and Denaria Kee (4-5, 3.02) as starters. CL Stagbuck Ewing (12 SV, 0.64) is in contention for the Fallon’s Reliever Award in his second season as the Boys’ closer. Offense is tied for 7th in runs scored (215) with the best offensive ranking being home runs (tied for 5th at 40). The second through fifth hitters are bunched up in statistical production: SS Brass Well (.300/5/30), RF Slammin’ Sammy Holloway (.284/6/30), LF Mork Mendee (.303/5/22), and 1B Jag Jouan (.349/5/16). Institute League Despite a four-game losing streak, Fort Hagen is still claiming 1st place in the Institute League. Three teams are right on the Silver Shroud’s tails, in a game distance per team in order: Bunker Hill, Cambridge, and Lexington. Both Sunshine Tidings and Concord are three games below .500 and in the playoff race. Starlight is 8-43 (.157), still on pace to have the CBO’s worst season in its history. The Chemists were the premier team in the IL from 2303-2311. In that span, Sunshine Tidings made the playoffs every season and won the IL title five-straight times from 2304-2308. Now, they have missed the playoffs four-straight seasons and are looking as though that will happen again in 2316. Currently, the Chemists are 11th in runs scored (206) but rank second in home runs (49). Though not currently qualifying because of limited at-bats, 1B/OF Charles Towner (.446/5/23) has been on fire. He has recently taken over the 1B spot from Eddie Furnace (.254/7/27). C Red Jay Jones (.319/6/18) is still the best hitting catcher in the CBO. RF Blaine Stabb (.262/7/18) is ted with Furnace fore the team lead in homers. On the mound, Sunshine Tidings is 11th in runs allowed (228), showing that statistically they are perhaps overachieving with a 24-27 record. Ace Tiger Fanne (5-5, 2.96) has been pretty good minus run support. Veteran starters Eugene Gym (3-8, 4.78) and Major Tom Brennan (4-5, 4.26) have struggled. In the bullpen, CL Michael Rushmore (6 SV, 1.21) has done well. Minutemen League The ML has taken over as the tightest league with nine games separating 1st and 7th. Only one team, 7th-place Southie, has had a good stretch in their last 10 (7-3). Quincy went 5-5, which was good enough to put them 1.6 up on Atom. University Point and Goodneighbor are both above .500, while Spectacle Island, Jamaica Plain, and the Brews are all below .500. The Gunners are doing what it takes to battle for the ML title in 2316, which would mark their second title in three seasons. Quincy is also in the position to make the playoffs for three-straight seasons for the first time in franchise history. On offense, the Gunners are 7th in runs scored (192). 2B Will Hell (.302/11/33) is the team MVP, leading in the Triple Crown categories for the team. On the mound, Quincy is 2nd in runs allowed (169), including being 2nd in Starters ERA (2.94) and 4th in Bullpen ERA (2.94). Ace Make Money (7-2, 1.85) is in early contention for Vim! Pitcher of the Year and won May’s Pitcher of the Month. College Luckyman (7-5, 2.77) has also pitched well. CL Professor Harriel (14 SV, 1.23) is among the most successful closers in the league, currently second in the SCA in saves. Railroad League Every team but one, FHE, went somewhere between 4-6 and 6-4 in their last 10, keeping the RL mostly the same in positioning from the last update. Vault 81 is 32-19, tops in the SCA and just a game back of the Grognaks for the best record. Diamond City trails by two, and Glowing Sea trails by three. The rest of the league is below .500: Oberland, Roxbury, Egret, and the Yao Guai. For FHE, currently on a CBO-worst seven-game losing streak and possessing the SCA’s worst record, it is almost time to sell. The Yao Guai seemed to be up and coming just two seasons ago, having made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons in 2313 and 2314. Then, they dropped and just have not been able to find the winning formula. FHE’s offense is its “good” unit, currently tied for 12th in runs scored (181). The only person standing out, though, is CF Missile Crews (.340/4/21/23 SB). Leadoff 2B Slip Knotty (.208/8/23) leads the team in homers. On the mound, the Yao Guai are 14th in runs allowed (237), including having the 13th-bnest Starters ERA (4.32). At the top of the rotation, Baker Dozen (4-6, 3.65) and Lawdog Whipple (4-4, 3.83) are holding the team together, but hardly. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 29 - It was an extraordinary week for Charles Towner of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. First he goes on a hot hitting streak, batting .632, then he is voted the Player of the Week in the North Charles Association. Last week Towner went 12-for-19, racked up 1 home run and 7 RBIs and scored 5 runs. It was a heck of a week for the Sunshine Tidings left fielder. Towner is currently hitting at a .444 pace with 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and has scored 14 times. When it came to hitting the baseball, Nippy Ben Nippolt was in a class by himself in the South Charles Association this past week. Nobody did it better. The outstanding shortstop for Spectacle Island tagged opposing pitchers for a .571 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 12 hits in 21 at-bats, 1 homers, 5 runs scored and 3 RBIs. This season, Nippolt has banged out 51 hits in 155 at-bats for a .329 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .388 pace and his totals also include 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored. June 5 - Cambridge fans have something to crow about today as Cambridge center fielder Pro Jabonete nabbed the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Jabonete. He posted a .476 average (10-for-21) this past week with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. So far this season, Jabonete has recorded a .366 batting average with 67 hits, 16 home runs, 42 RBIs, 32 runs scored and a .424 OBP. Odd Todd Walker demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Oberland second baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .440 average (11-for-25) with 5 home runs and 7 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. On the year, Walker has hit .312 with 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 42 runs. CBO Noteworthy News May 25 - The Vault 81 contest with Jamaica Plain featured a real shining moment: Nick Maris, the Dwellers third baseman, collected career base hit #2000. That his team lost the game, 5-4, took away only a little bit of the luster. Fittingly, the 38-year-old Maris, who went 1-for-2, received a warm ovation from the Red Rockets Stadium crowd. Looking at his career numbers, Maris has played in 1952 games with a .283 batting average. Among his 2000 hits are 400 doubles, 61 triples and 144 home runs. He has also scored 1125 runs and driven in 839 runs. He is the 17th player to reach 2000 hits in his career. Good Don Duck is the all-time leader with 2506. May 27 - In a brilliant performance at Red Rockets Stadium, Jamaica Plain pitcher Derek Green entered an elite group by tossing a no-hitter against the FHE Yao Guai. In the effort, he fanned 5 and walked 4, leading the Red Rockets to victory, 6-0. "I was getting my off-speed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball," Green said in the clubhouse after the game. "My guys made some nice plays behind me and cut off several hits, too." In 11 starts this season, Green has recorded 4 wins and absorbed 3 losses. He has pitched 63 innings, allowed 54 hits, struck out 33 and has a 3.43 ERA. The no-hitter by Green is the 23rd in CBO history and his second. Green joins Jaa Thirtysix (Salem) as the only pitchers with two no-hitters. Green last threw a no-hitter against Vault 81, on April 21, 2307. June 5 - "Vote Early and Vote Often!" While that may not be true for elections, that's the message coming out of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization offices for the upcoming All-Star game, scheduled for Tuesday, August 1st , 2316. The ballots have been released, and everyone can cast your ballot up until a few days before the game, when the final rosters will be released.

Nice start to the season for the Radscorpions. I saw PAM had Enigma Montgomery as the top performer as I expect that he's having a great season. Though when I went to look at the leaderboards I stumbled on an exciting new pitcher, Scooter Yaghmour, who at 23 was ranked as a top-20 pitcher and is off to a dominant start. Top in the WHIP and top three in a bunch of other things. What's his story?

Scooter entered the Southern Commonwealth Youth League in 2307 with the Hope Firestarters, which joined the CYL in 2309. Scooter played in 2307, part of 2308, and 2310 with the Firestarters. He was injured in 2308 and missed all of 2309. In 2310, he was 6-7 with a 2.32 ERA in 20 starts. In 131.2 innings, he struck out 157 batters. At the end of his senior season, Yaghmour was drafted by the champions, Nordhagen Beach, with the 28th pick overall. The Party Boys traded him before the 2311 season to Nahant in a trade that landed Jacob Tarberry in Nordhagen Beach. Tarberry ended up making the All-Star game in 2311. For Yaghmour, he pitched in the GBRL with the Celtics' Croup Manor Inspectors, where he went 11-3 with a 3.21 ERA. In 2312, Yaghmour went 6-5 with a 4.90 ERA in the BMU with the Brockton Irish. On June 11, he was traded to Cambridge and placed on their GBRL team, the Scrap Palace Attack Dogs, where he went 4-4 with a 2.63 ERA. In 2313, the Coursers promoted Yaghmour to the CBO team as a reliever. Towards the end of the season, he got four starts (guessing), giving him 57 games appeared and four starts. At the end of the season, he was 2-4 with one save and a 4.27 ERA. In 2314, Yaghmour became a most-time starter for Cambridge, apperaing in 33 games with 28 starts. He finished the season with a 10-7 record and a 4.04 ERA. In 2315, he became a full-time starter, getting 32 starts on the season. He finished 14-12 with a 3.55 ERA and was selected to the All-Star Game. This season, he is having a dominating season, holding a 9-1 record with a 1.81 ERA in 14 starts. He leads the CBO in strikeouts (89), K/BB (4.9), K/9 (7.7), BB/9 (1.5), rWAR (4.7), and Win% (.900). He is in great shape to be the Vim! Pitcher of the Year in the NCA if he maintains this pace.

Trying to catch the forum working when I have the chance to post!
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 June 2316 CBO Analysis We are right at the midway point of the season with most teams having played 63 of their 130 games. That gives us a good idea where teams stand and what playoff outlooks may be, so we will post both power rankings and playoffs standings this update. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Vault 81 Dwellers (130.1, o) 2) Malden Grognaks (126.2, +) 3) The Slog Ghouls (112.1, ++) 4) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (110.7, ++) 5) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (109.7, -) 6) Diamond City Swatters (109.5, --) 7) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (106.7, -) 8) Oberland T-51s (102.3, ++) 9) Cambridge Coursers (102.1, -) 10) Bunker Hill 75ers (98.2, --) 11) Atom Cats (96.8, o) 12) Spectacle Island Reapers (95.4, ++) 13) Quincy Gunners (94.2, --) 14) Goodneighbor Hancocks (92.3, --) 15) Lexington Synths (88.4, -) 16) Easy Town Assaultrons (85.4, --) 17) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (83.7, ++) 18) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (81.9, +) 19) Salem Witch Hats (80.8, ++) 20) University Point Deathclaws (80.7, --) 21) County Crossing Bloodbugs (77.9, ++) 22) Roxbury Rad Sox (77.9, +) 23) Nahant Celtics (77.8, --) 24) Concord Radstags (74.8, --) 25) Egret Ninjas (72.3, +) 26) FHE Yao Guai (65.7, +) 27) Southie Brews (47.8, -) 28) Starlight Killers (39.1, o) NCA: 1. Malden 2. Fort Hagen 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Cambridge (2-0 series vs The Slog) 5. The Slog 6. Bunker Hill SCA: 1. Vault 81 2. Quincy 3. Diamond City 4. Glowing Sea 5. Atom 6t. Oberland and Goodneighbor (tied 1-1 in season series) Brotherhood League With a five-game winning streak and a 7-3 mark in their last 10, Malden has built their BL lead to four games. Nordhagen Beach is tied for the NCA's second-best record with Fort Hagen. The Slog, on a six-game winning streak, is in 3rd and Easy Town rounds out the teams above .500. Salem, Nahant, and County Crossing are all below .500. The Bloodbugs were used to winning, making the playoffs 11 times from 2301-2313 and winning the Sole Survivor Series in 2306. Ten years after that title, the Bugs have now missed the playoffs two straight seasons and look to make it three straight. Hitting is not the problem with County Crossign currently 7th in runs scored (263). Legendary 1B Babs Rooth (.288/12/35) has been dominant as of late. SS Robert Ai (.309/3/19) has also stepped up his game to take over the SS role. LF Frak Meng (.305/8/26) has also taken advantage of more playing time. Both CF Lakeview Malone (.292/11/32) and CF Thrift Iraheta (.297/0/23) are injured, leaving Easy Rider Powell (.091/0/0) to fill in. On the mound, the Bloodbugs are 14th in runs allowed (305), the only team to have allowed more than 300 runs. SP Whip Lashley (7-3, 1.85) has been great, while the rest of the rotation has struggled. CL Jupiter Jones (10 SV, 2.97) seems to be the only good option out of the bullpen. Institute League As mentioned above, the Silver Shroud hold the IL's best record, tied with the Boys for 2nd in the association. Cambridge, Bunker Hill, and Lexington round out the above .500 teams, meaning eight teams in the NCA are above .500. Sunshine Tidings, Concord, and Starlight are all below .500. The Killers are still killing themselves, possessing just a .206 winning percentage, still on pace to break the CBO record. The Coursers have come alive in 2316 in a season where three of the expansion teams from 2310 look to be playoff worthy. Only the ML's Southie team seems to be out of the running. For Cambridge, they are looking to be legitimate contenders for the rest of the season. They are 2nd in runs scored (288). Three and four hitters, CF Pro Jabonete (.360/17/50) and LF Bubbler Mayhem (.380/11/43), are the stars on offense. Jabonete leads the CBO in homers and leads the NCA in RBI. The Coursers are 5th in runs allowed (229), which includes the 4th-best Starters ERA (2.96). Ace Scooter Yaghmour (10-1, 1.85) has dominated and currently leads the CBO in four categories (Ks, K/BB, BB/9, and Win%). Rookie Bullets Barnes (6-6, 2.93) has helped as the second starter. The bullpen has not been great, so some improvements there would help Cambridge in their title pursuits. CL Monte Ward (12 SV, 3.49) has been serviceable. Minutemen League No team has stood out, though both University Point and the Brews have struggled as of late, dropping them both down the games back ladder. Quincy holds a half-game lead over Atom with both Goodneighbor and Spectacle Island right on their heels. The Deathclaws are just four games back at three games below .500, so any team can still claim the ML. Jamaica Plain and Southie take up the last two slots in the standings. The Cats are a good team, but the wins are not coming at the rate they would like. Atom is 5th in runs scored in the SCA (255). 1B McMack Bingham (.301/7/33) leads the team in the Triple Crown categories. Both LF Gremlin T. Squearfish (.268/4/32) and 2B Lee Mayhew (.243/5/15) have seen significant drops in their production in 2316. On the mound, the Cats are also 5th in runs allowed (232). Ace Josh Brown (9-4, 1.97) has had a great year, but the rest of the rotation, including K-9 Creep (8-8, 3.92), has struggled. CL Dylan Davies (11 SV, 6.20) needs to be replaced in that role. Railroad League Tied with the Ghouls and Oberland for the CBO-best 8-2 record during their previous ten games, Vault 81 is now four up on Diamond City for 1st place. Glowing Sea is one game back of the Swatters, while the T-51s are now three games above .500 and tied for the last playoff slot with the Hancocks. Roxbury, Egret, and FHE are all probably needing to turn their attention to 2317 at this point. The Ninjas should be in a different position on offense. As the 11th-ranked scoring team (229), Egret should be among the worst in statistical categories. Instead, their only low rankings are in stolen bases (14th with 8) and base running (13th with -10.5). They are 3rd in OBP (.330) and 2nd in home runs (51), so something is awry. RF Deez Phantom (.382/8/30) has been excellent. 1B Dynamo Barnes (.326/10/31) has also contributed to the team. The pitching is not good, ranked tied for 12th in runs allowed (279). Ace Sheldon Mayoral (7-3, 2.12) has been good. Fourth-starter, Eddie Housey (1-5, 3.09), gets almost no run support. In the bullpen, CL Outie Lett (10 SV, 4.05) could be better. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week June 12 - In the twilight of his career, 37-year-old Babs Rooth of County Crossing recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. "I've been playing since I was a kid," Rooth told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success." Rooth outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 4 home runs, and 7 RBIs to stake his claim to the award. This season, Rooth is swinging the bat at a .294 pace. He has hit 10 home runs and scored 28 times, while driving in 30. His on-base percentage is .365 and he has played in 56 games. It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Griffin Herring, the Spectacle Island Reapers 23-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 7 hits in 21 at-bats, compiling a .333 average with 4 home runs and 7 RBIs. This season, Herring is batting .246 with 9 home runs. June 19 - When it came to hitting the baseball, Jack of Diamonds Cordero had few peers in the North Charles Association this past week. The talented second baseman for Malden tagged opposing pitchers for a .407 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 11 hits in 27 at-bats, 3 homers, 8 runs scored and 7 RBIs. This year, Cordero has collected a .339 batting average to date with 75 hits in 221 at-bats, 39 RBIs, 9 home runs and scored 45 times. He has played in 59 games. Quincy fans have something to crow about today as Quincy left fielder Alchemist Hall nabbed the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Hall. He posted a .500 average (12-for-24) this past week with no home runs, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Hall is currently hitting .292 with 5 home runsand 21 RBIs, while scoring 25 runs. CBO Noteworthy News June 8 - Nahant's Ajani Peacock entered the record books today as he collected hit number 2000 at Lucky Charms Bowl. "I am proud of this. Not too many players reach this level. You have to be around quite a few years and you have to get a lot of hits," Peacock said after the game. On his milestone day he went 3 for 4 as the Celtics won 6-2 over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. In his career, Peacock has hit .297 with 2002 hits, 325 doubles, 113 triples and 157 home runs. His totals also include 852 RBIs and 1196 runs scored. June 19 - A press conference announcing the firing of Ray Pratt has been set for today by the Southie Brews. When pressed for reasons behind the decision to fire Pratt, Southie GM Straus said, "We spoke in my office for an hour and decided that it was time to make a change. Unfortunately, his philosophy was no longer working in the clubhouse and a new voice was necessary for us to continue moving in the right direction." A replacement is expected to be named to the media soon. CCBL Awards Hitter - At the age of 19, Biddy Juhan of the Revere College Riders could very well have his best years ahead of him. It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2316 was good enough to win the left fielder the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Top Collegiate Hitter Award. "See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach." The top hitter put up a .435 batting average this year, as well as a .500 on-base percentage. He played 56 games and racked up 97 hits, 18 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs, 56 RBIs and 44 runs scored. He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 68. Johnboy Zikmund of the Brown Bears finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Alika Morilla of the UConn Yankees finished third with 17 first place votes. In 14 starts, he gave up 65 base hits and struck out 130 in 91 innings with a 0.59 ERA. Opposing teams hit .198 against him. He received 58 first place votes out of a possible 68. But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the New Hampshire Wildcats reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2316 Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Top Collegiate Reliever Award. "I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Brockton, Massachusetts native said. For the season, Le Troutstain had 2 saves in 27 relief appearances, which totaled 31. He fanned 33 betters, while walking 7 and put up a record of 4-1 to go with his 0.87 ERA. He may only be 15, but it will be hard to top the first baseman's 2316 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the North Region Slugger Supreme Award. His winning campaign featured a .502 batting average and a .591 on-base percentage this year. In 49 games he piled up 104 hits, 15 doubles, no triples, 28 home runs, 103 RBIs and 86 runs scored.
