Can't sign Free Agents

I'm new to this game, and I'm in preseason of first year and trying to add some players from the free agency but unable to.

Under NHL > Roster > Free Agents...

There are a number of younger players that when clicking their names then contracts they are unrestricted FA but I get a message of "It is not possible to sign this player at the present time" when I right-click and "offer contract"

I completed the fantasy draft 3 weeks ago, and am currently 4 games into the preseason. I'm coming from EA NHL/NFL career games and am unfamiliar with (playing) OOTP.

I would assume that when I go into free agency and players are "available", I can upgrade my team...but I get this generic message. This is why I'm confused. When I try to offer a contract to the 17 yr olds, I get a message that they are too young. When I try to offer a contract to the 18 yr olds...I get the message in the image.

You can use the filter button on that screen and tick the 'signable' box,
and it will show which players you can sign.

Thanks Castleview, this is actually helpful so I'm not getting rejected nonstop.

Now that I have scouting reports coming in, I noticed all of those young players that are unable to be signed are draft prospects. This makes no sense considering they are not yet in the NHL so they should not be in NHL Free Agents list. So Alessandro was correct on this as well.

However, that filter helps a TON now though, thanks!

It's a bug that's on the list to fixed. (Or so I've been told)
