Can I take the Mariners to their first World Series? Maybe win Julio an MVP?

As a Mariners fan, I'm excited for my team. Great young team poised to make a World Series run in the upcoming years. I met a guy on the golf course who had gotten a tattoo in 2019-- right after the Mariners acquired Julio Rodriguez-- that said "Mariners World Series 2020" on his upper thigh. He had since crossed out 2020 and tattooed 2021, 2022, etc. beneath it. How many tattoos will this man need to get? Lets find out in OOTP!

I started a live play a few days ago (6/11/2024) as the Seattle Mariners and I'm going to see how long it takes to get to the World Series with me as GM.

I'm considering doing a video series as well. This would be my first video series... so we will see how that goes.

It is June 11, 2024 and the Mariners are 38-30.

Hopefully Seattle can stay on top of the division until after the all-star game without any big moves needed.

I'll be considering a trade before the deadline similar to the rumors that exist in real life.

My main target for this trade will be either Luis Robert Jr. (CWS), Pete Alonso (NYM), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR), or Randy Arozarena (TB).

Made it to the draft. Still leading our division, no other major developments.

Tried to consider some guys the Mariners may be targeting in real life. Not a ton of guys available at our draft position. Feel ok about this draft but nothing too exciting.

Only two Mariners made the all-star team this year and of course they are pitchers: George Kirby (8-6, 3.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) and Logan Gilbert (7-4, 2.70 ERA, 1.02 WHIP).

Julio isn't having the best of years. His stat line still isn't great considering his slow start to the year. Andres Munoz and Luis Castillo seem to have barely missed the cut.

We also extended Kirby as our owner wanted us to do.

The big trade has been completed!

After more consideration and taking a look at possible trade packages, trading for Luis Robert Jr. seemed to be the way to go.

Pete Alonso and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are both in the last year of large contracts and I'm sure I'd need to pay them even more to resign them in the offseason. Randy Arozarena was on a smaller contract, but again I'd have to resign him in the offseason. Luis Robert Jr. has a affordable contract of 15m, 15m, 20m, 20m (team opt.). Luis provides better fielding than any of the other trade possibilities. Although I'd say Vlad or Pete might provide a marginally better power bat, I think Luis could be potentially provide as much quality at the plate as either for much cheaper and possibly longer. We also added a lefty to our bullpen with Tanner Banks as part of the deal.

We did have to give up a couple young prospects but at least we kept major prospects such as Cole Young and Blake Hunt.

A couple more trades were made. Baltimore offered me Jordan Westburg for almost nothing so I took it. I also picked up Lamonte Wade Jr. from San Francisco who had him on the trading block. Hopefully this adds a little more depth to our hitting.

As we head into the final month we remain at the top of the AL West. Feeling pretty comfortable at the top with... the Angels pursuing us? The Angels could even make a push to win a playoff spot.

So our big trade acquisition busted his kneecap... He will be out the rest of the season and the playoffs. At least we will be winning the division.
