IAFA System
Is there a way to revert the new system back into the old one in the game settings? This has absolutely ravaged my online league and ruined a far better system we managed to get out of the old way and I would like to be able to shut it off.

We shut off scouting discoveries and expanded the July pool to 600 players to make up for it. We also shut off player demands so it's a true market system and players who are like 20/20 guys don't have stupid $1 mil demands. Then we allow iafa space trading to a max of $8 million dollars.
We also drop the 600 player pool class in March to give a 100 day window to scout and through the season teams jockey for budget space and get all set for the July period. The only two rules are a minimum $100k bid and not going over budget. Once the July period opens up each sim week we get a huge batch of signings from huge $8 and $5 mil ticket players to a plethora of a few hundred thousand guys and we log the signing details in a shared spreadsheet so the GM's handle the in the game transaction and we reference the out of game sheet. For 10 seasons we have used this system to remove the random element of top prospects appearing out of thin air and make sure everyone has a chance to bid on everyone like in real life, have had a large bunch of small $ signings become great players and even a perennial mvp at 22 and 23 from one of the big signings in year 1 and most importantly we have maintained a realistic league demographic of having roughly 1/3 of the players derive from the Caribbean rather than over time becoming an overwhelmingly draft derived league. Fast forward to now, the new system does not allow us to scout the 600 player pool, the invites to complex takes too long and we can only boost it to 30 max so no matter what we do you can only have a "low" accuracy of reports at the starting of the signing period. Economically players have demands no matter if we shut it off so our league that has a finate $160 mil of budget space to spend has to contend with a 600 player pool with a total demand of ~$750 million worth of contracts,which makes it economically unfeasible since players will reject deals even if they only ever get one offer unless it meets their usually high demands. It has completely removed the incentive to strategize and make trades for budget space and has become a worthless trade asset. Previous to the new system the draft was a huge event from opening day to June, then a couple of sims after the iafa system had a ton of talent for 3-4 more sims before the deadline and generally kept the league flow. Now it's become a completely dead event since it's settings are forced and we can't seem to revert back to the old mechanics. Last edited by Woodman19; 08-30-2023 at 10:11 AM. |

This all reads like, you altered the way it should work and now that it doesn't work in 24 you're mad about it.
I get it, custom leagues can have custom rules. But the game is the game, and I think if you were creative enough to find a way to make it work for you in 23, you can think of a way to make it work in 24 also. I think there is a big difference between game features changed and working properly and game features changing and not working properly. This seems to read like the system is working as intended - but not for your league. Quote:
