Pitching Woes

I'm at a loss for who to have in my pitching staff. All of my pitchers in my rotation have a losing record and my pen hasn't helped me out. Does anyone have any suggestions for my team? I can post my collection pitchers if needed.

What are your park factors? What about the teams you've played on the road?
What's the offense like on the teams you've faced?

What's your defense like? How does it compare with the rest of the league?

I carried over my park factors from what I had in PT22. AVG and HRs are at 1.1, doubles and triples are at 1.5

Defensive efficiency and zone rating are 15th while errors are 3rd. Runs against and bullpen ERA are 15th, starters ERA is 14th

I have been experimenting with my fielders in hopes that I can find a good combination. My offensive categories are all in the top 10

Doesn't the game adjust based on each individual league? Has some baseline then changes it after the first 5-10 games of the season? That's how I thought it worked.

But my pitchers haven't changed much, yet I get this (see image). Repeat of 2025, I suppose. With every introduction of new cards, my 'deck' becomes lesser value vs competition.

I usually use Don Newcombe but he was 'cold', so I swapped in Lee Meadows. Smokey Joe Williams is the only real change since ... hell, 2023 season, I think.

ed: oh, I ceased using Stoppers after I noticed that they ignored the "don't use below x fatigue" setting. I'm not sure if it ignores it for "Setup" or "Closer" roles, but I just assumed it did, since they both specify innings to "start" at. Unsure if that bug is fixed. I posted about it a month or so ago.

I believe the issue is that it sees reliever X is to start after inning Y, and it looks no further if this reliever is "rested enough" (I *think* this is 50%, but it could be as low as 25%), so this guy will most likely perform worse than reliever Z that is at 75% or higher rested state, which it ignores (or ignored, if it was stealth fixed)

Oh, here's my second team. Don't play regular tourneys on it, just enter drafts (and then sometimes don't draft players, laugh... oh well). I did win some 25K point tourney

anyway, they share some of the same pitchers. no 100's. this guy is probably going to get relegated though. laugh.

my guess would be it's mostly a defense thing for you

in bronze those pitchers are getting hit that hard? would have to think it's extremely poor defense then ... or maybe really bad overall settings, though i question their overall impact, there are def some ways to sabotage them

(to a degree where i got *suspended for 'tanking' in ootp 22, laugh.... so much for the tests)

ed: added in third account, which gets the least amount of time spent on it & has the 'worst' players.. i don't even have a good right-handed specialist, which is pretty important atm, since most teams are right-handed heavy, but .. oh well ... did think it's curious that the AI seems to favor clayton kershaw for saves. never quite figured that out -- the criteria it uses to select which middle reliever to use (other than just R vs L handed) .. roster has been same all season (i think .. maybe I finished a few of the LIVE collection missions and swapped in a batter or two also?) , but i do remember swapping in tim lincecum for ben sheets

Here is my team currently as of 6/23 at 2:47 eastern time. Pitching has bounced back some, but still 12 games below 500

Is it giving the 'setup' and 'closer' relievers priority in the 8th+ inning, even if they are in a lower rest state tier than the other relievers?

ed: I guess since points are on sale, the tests I'm doing now w/ settings aren't going to be very useful (at least in terms of the league itself) .... oh well, may get regulated on main account this season. good time to marketplace some cards maybe

Oh, re; settings, I usually set them on each individual player, but some global stuff that I've never found positive results in going below +1 would be the infield and outfield shifts & would impact ERA

I'm not sure. I looked at my strategies and everything is set at the basic settings. Where would I look to see that?

Have to monitor it, or (more complicated) you could individually look at your pitchers and see if one of the setup guys throws enough pitches to go under, say, 75%, then throws some more the next day .... whilst another one of your relievers would be at =>75% ..

If they're all set to even, definitely turn up the shifts though & turn the intentional walks down to -3, -4, or maybe even -5 (never tried that one, tbh) ..

These others shouldn't impact pitching, but the global stealing setting should be set to -4 (or really -5, but then if you had, say, Cool Papa Bell, you'd want to individually set him, as he's one of the few people that has a beneficial steal rate) as long as mediocre pitchers are throwing out 40% of baserunners. Hit & Run is also negatively impacted by this, though it's not that hot to begin with (it's really something you'd individually want to set, specifically on groundball prone hitters & even moreso if they follow someone in the lineup that moves like a sloth).

I’ve completed some of the live series collections and some of the division collections. I now have 98 SS Concepcion, 98 SP Dickey, 98 SP Fernandez, 97 SP Bender, 97 SP Schilling, 95 SP Liriano, 95 SP Sheets, 94 SP Pennock
Are any of them usable? My current SS is 93 Sewell
