I have the feeling the interview was taped a couple of weeks ago. Notice the lack of any specific dates being mentioned.

Maybe he was ripping some Beethoven off on that piano before the interview

That would have been a great prelude to the interview.

Same. Pre-order without question.

Only thing that would get me swooning at this point would be proper audio play-by-play like Baseball for Windows had with Ernie Harwell. Took the immersion to a new level - it was just great.

I was thinking Heat Miser when I saw him.

Markus was hilarious when talking about how much he sucks at Perfect Team. I like him for being honest. As for the reveal it was alright. Better simulation engine, catcher framing, and the shop a player upgrades are all awesome. Hoping for multi team trades and better graphics on the pitches a pitcher throws.

Having hopped on the bus relatively recently [OOTP 21], I can appreciate the need for the tutorials for newbies. I was initially bewildered by the complexity of the game (and still on the learning curve), and was fortunate to be newly retired (mostly) with time to learn. I doubt the tutorials would help me now (though these forums clearly do): but happy they could make the game more accessible for first time players. I enjoyed the changes, improvements, refinements in OOTP 22, and have pre-ordered 23, trusting that there will be more of the same, including some changes that reveal themselves well down the road. I like that. The commitment of the developers to making the game better (and fixing the bugs) is admirable and inspiring. Happy to pay for that.

Like many of you I pre-order as soon as the gate opens and did so again this year.

The interview was more comforting than exciting. The trailer looked good, and improvements to the engine are of course more noteworthy than we can appreciate prior to our playing the new version.

For me... sortable team stats is enough of a new feature to bring a big smile

Adding in the now annual incremental improvement in graphics will make V.23 the usual yearly addition to my overall level of happiness. I could not say that last part to a stranger, but I can feel the veteran part of this community nodding its heads.

My guess is that the people who have decided before seeing the tutorials that they will disable them from jump are in fact the ones most likely to benefit from them.

Ironic.

Has there been any news on what exactly the changes to sim engine are. All I've heard is that they've made huge changes to it but I haven't found any information on what exactly was improved.

Last year, it was like a damn beer league offense until I went in and changed the modifiers.

Hope it's not that kind of "improvement" again.

Matt Arnold said you won’t be able to cheese the game by taking until you have two strikes anymore, which implies that maybe they’re implementing true pitch by pitch mode, maybe?

You'd be surprised at how many "the pants color doesn't fit with the uniform" comments I have read through the years so it was something highly requested. I'd like some news about the historical part of the game, I'll buy friday like I always do even if I know I won't get much this year but it looks like the games will be fun to watch so there's that.
