They requested mediation, not arbitration. Big difference. Arbiters comes to a decision, while mediation is more of an impartial third party helping both sides come to a middle ground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I just can't see these differences being bridged anytime soon without some outside assistance of some kind. Gotta go close the door now. Another casual fan just left the room forever. |

I’m not about to jump ship over this fight. I’m far more concerned with Manfred’s changes to actual gameplay. How would people feel if Roger Goodell instituted a fifth down? That’s what Manfred has done and is doing to this game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If the league and players don't put a product on the field this year will they give back the money?

Arbitration

A mediator is a better tool here, IMHO. Not a person who decides the deal; but someone with good communication skills who is given the authority to convene meetings and require submissions. The best mediators can talk very candidly to each side about what is at stake, appeal to their fears, appeal to their better instincts. The best mediation technique is to lock the negotiators in a room, or better yet two rooms with a conference room in-between, and not let them out until they have an agreement. I once had a mediator deny me coffee until I worked on my client to be reasonable. It worked! |

I'm not a fan of games being canceled at the beginning of the season. But I'm less of a fan of games being canceled at the end of the season.

I am trying, gauging the depths of my animosity, to see if I have enough of it to walk away from this version of the game permanently.
I will always love baseball, but do I need the MLB to enjoy it? For, and this is NOT nostalgia, I seem to have enjoyed MLB much more before all of the ridiculous amounts of money, the blaring hype, and now the relentless messages about betting ruined it for me. So, for example, say you are a Washington Nationals fan. You love Bryce Harper who plays for your team for seven years and seems headed for the Hall of Fame. Someone to treasure, yes? No. Instead of taking the Nationals' offer of $300 million, he decamps for Philadelphia who offered him $330 million. Now he is presumably one of the ones who wants even more if he can get it out of a new CBA. So why should you care about Bryce Harper, the Washington Nationals without your favorite player, or MLB in general?

Even look at the squabble over MLB minimum salary. Both of the numbers put up by the owners and players are ridiculous money by any account. But to these millionaires and billionaires, it's worth fighting for. The business of baseball is ruining the enjoyment of the game of baseball at the professional level.

No matter what either side says, neither one cares at all about the fans, they only care about making more money. Others than the players making the minimum I have no sympathy for anyone on either side.

Really, at this point it’s the MLBPA who is providing the clown show. They are so hell bent on making up for the last two deals they got fleeced on. (Their own fault). Now, they won’t even accept a reasonably good deal.

Was anyone else part of the great migration from MLB.TV? I turned off auto-renewal and let it expire on 02/28/22. I assume that was done en mass given that MLB announced super late that they would not be auto-renewing anyone at this time.
I should have just deleted my account but that's a message to be sent a bit later.

The owners have gone full-blown villain/bully status here as far as I can tell...even as much as throwing new random stuff into their last-minute offers hoping the players might miss it due to the deadline. How do you think the previous bad deals came to be? The owners have and continue to strong-arm the union while using their vast resources to buy positive PR and make the players out to be the villains. The union isn't even really standing up to them, their last offer doesn't really get them anything they were hoping to get at the beginning of this process, which is younger players getting paid closer to the value they are providing and rules to prevent teams from going into full tank mode (a la Astros, Cubs, etc.). The owners are flat-out trying to break the union at this point. Last edited by Rain King; 03-02-2022 at 01:26 PM. |

I only got an email today (well, sent Tuesday US time) that they would let me continue to have access to the available archive until the stupid millionaires and billionaires are done tugging on the bags with dosh in them.
They didn't word it exactly like that. I'm staying. Where else would I get baseball?
