A Suggestion: Make Continents Do Something
This is a simple suggestion. There are already continents built into the game as a category in which countries are included. Though the majority of OOTP users do not build fictional leagues, I would like to think it would benefit everyone if continents had any involvement in league design or player nationality when it comes to league setup.
For example: I am creating an English league. I want some amount of international signings and free agents. I don't want a designated quota from individual countries to appear, but rather an option to weigh them in favor of moderate realism. Currently, I would have to go through every single country in the Player Origin section and pick which ones I want to include and leave out, which is extremely time-consuming. If I could check a button that checks every country in Europe, or allows percentages for continents or even regions (say, Western Europe 85%, Southern/Northern/Eastern each 5%)--with the knowledge, then, that OOTP's baseball quality presets will do the rest of the realism work for me--it would immediately give my game a more realistic feeling. (EDIT 6:42pm - while I double-checked and realize you can set the region feature to a particular continent, it's extra work to have to make leagues a specific nation from that feature, and that feature automatically disables player origins from outside of that continent, which is strange to me.) Would also be interested in seeing this in foreign players rules (i.e. no players from outside of a region allowed, rather than just a country), but player origin seems a good place to start. Again, this would use information already present in the game and that could be easily moddable. This, along with including languages as player and personnel attributes, are probably my top two features suggestions for OOTP as a whole. Curious to hear what the forums (and, perhaps, the developers) think. Last edited by dynaboyj; 07-31-2021 at 07:52 PM. |

If you give your league a region, I believe the foreigner limits for the league will actually go by the region rather than the country. You can also go by team regions instead for the foreigner limit.
It does annoy me that if you give your league a region you can't select any other countries for international players, though, I agree. |

Well, they do move over time, but you would need like a 10 million year league to see any changes.

What the OP means, I think, is that OOTP should have a setting for faster plate tectonics, so that a fictional league can replicate the re-formation of Pangaea -- or can start with Pangaea and chart its breakup.
