Smile Big News - An announcement by Andreas & Markus

Dear OOTP community,

Today is a very special day for our company and for me and Andreas personally. In case you didn’t know, we both are the original founders of OOTP Developments.

About 23 years ago I started writing the first lines of code for a fun project that some months later received the name “Out of the Park Baseball”. It was October 1997, I was living in a 90 square-feet room inside a student home of the University of Hamburg and I lived & breathed both baseball and programming. Since then, there have been many milestones, and what was once a crazy idea by an overly enthusiastic German baseball fan, turned into a mid-size development studio with a pretty good track record over the years.

Now it’s time for the next chapter. Andreas and I are happy to announce that we have sold our ownership shares of Out of the Park Developments to the Com2uS corporation, who is a global leader in the games industry and already has several successful MLB-licensed mobile games in their portfolio of excellent products.

Your first question now is most likely “OK, but what does that mean for the future of OOTP and FHM?”. And the short answer is: Almost everything will remain as it has been in the past, and we now have a strong partner who will support our plans for the future. Andreas and I will remain with the company, as will the entire team, in the same roles as before. In fact, Andreas and I will have much more time to focus on design and development work than before, as Com2uS will help us a lot with administrative tasks like accounting, licensing etc. On top of that, Com2uS will help us with mobile-specific development for OOTP Go and also with localizing the entire OOTP product lineup for other languages and markets, as they have professional translation teams and techniques at their disposal. When it comes to game design decisions, OOTP as a studio will remain independent and we will of course continue to listen to you, the community, for suggestions and feedback, no matter if positive or critical. This approach has taken us to where we are right now and we will not change this one bit.

We are convinced that this acquisition will start an amazing new chapter for the company, and we will continue to work as hard as possible to give you the best sports management games possible, on all platforms. Thank you so much for your support both in the past and in the future!

Markus & Andreas
