Why Does OOTP Change My Rosters?

I keep signing up for tournaments. I keep submitting rosters. It appears my rosters are accepted. But when I check tournament results, the roster for my team has been changed to much weaker players. Why does this happen? How can I prevent it?

Here's an example. I submitted a roster with all gold players. I ended up playing the tournament with this mix of bronze, silver, and gold. Why?

It does not appear that you have updated to the most recent patch (there is no text description of the era restriction for that tournament, which was new in the last patch), and so you most likely submitted an invalid roster.
