What year did the NHL start free agency? Google gives me nothing and FHM6 doesn't seem to enable it automatically in historical mode, so I'm trying to figure out when to turn it on.

What doest this Shortcuts by the name (red square) mean?
(H3) - is that Hot streak 3 games? But what is (TB)? And what all options could we see there? |

The game actually does enable it automatically (although if you turn historical editing on, you'll be stuck with the system in place at the time unless you edit it manually.) It's not a perfect historical model, though, since we only have the current restricted free agency rules to work with in the game, so they get applied in all seasons when the actual compensation system varied over time. The way it works now is: 77-78: restricted free agency begins 94-95: unrestricted free agency for players 31 and older 05-06: unrestricted free agency for players 30 and older 06-07: unrestricted free agency for players 29 and older 07-08: unrestricted free agency for players 28 and older 08-09: unrestricted free agency for players 27 and older (I did find and fix an error with the 2010-11 setup while I was checking this that was probably preventing UFA's in that season.) |

Hover the mouse over the column title and you'll get a list of the explanations. The only one not listed is H#, which is the goaltender's current heat number.

Oh, there's actually an easier way around it than editing: activate Steven Engelland from your injured list and you'll be able to continue (albeit with a short roster for a couple of games until everyone's healthy.) I'd suggest also shopping/trading some of your >age 26 players that are on large contracts for younger, cheaper players, to reduce the risk of this happening again.

Hi ! Thank you for this amazing game and all the work you're putting on it.
I do have a question regarding FHM7 : do you have plan to ameliore managing in european leagues ? I tried somes saves in the Swiss leagues and while the game is great in general, there are some flaws that are a bit game breaking. For exemple : - the number of foreign players allowed in National league (swiss first division) is 4 and not 5 (4 on the ice, clubs can have a max of 8 licences per year for foreign players) - too much or to unrealistic changes of players between clubs during season (not trades but the buyout player by an another club) ; this is relly rarely happening in europe (except KHL) ; I see a lot of time somes tops players from the tops teams to go to the bottom team... Thank you in advance for your answer !

Two quick things I've noticed that I can't figure out how to edit, or even if it's possible to, in Commissioner mode. The first is that I'm seeing a few players that should be RFA's after the 19-20 season that are instead UFA's in the game, ie Ryan Strome. The other is that certain players with overseas experience (mainly in the KHL) aren't showing as rookies, even though they are by NHL standards, ie Igor Shestyorkin.
Are these editable at all? |

You also have the option, when you start a new game, of playing as the GM of a national team.

I posted this on Reddit but would be good to get an official answer on this.
So, from what I understand and have seen on YouTube, there doesn't seem to be much opportunity to move around different teams (Challenge Mode) because the competition for jobs is so intense. Is it possible in the European leagues and progress through different leagues and better teams, without using Commissioner Mode? I'd really like to try this as one big final FHM 6 game as opposed to the usual games with NHL teams. |

Do owners change in the game?
I'm on my 8th season in a historical/random debut replay, and I'd swear my owner's name is different this season. I'm pretty sure the name used to be Jonathan in the monthly Board Confidence Update emails, but now it's Al Savill. And he seems to be way more demanding. After a 9-3-1 month and an overall 24-9-3 record that's first in the conference and tied for second overall in the league, he "thinks that this season has been disappointing so far". |

I recently moved my save from my laptop to my desktop pc. In doing so, some of my player facegens are now 3/4 missing. It's not all players. I can see 1/4 of the jersey on the left but then it just cuts everything off and is transparent. I'm sure I'll probably need to upload a pic (sorry forgot to get one last night) but didn't know if anyone knew what I was explaining and how to fix it.

I have not watched hockey regularly since the early 1970s, but I was watching one of the Stanley Cup games recently and that made me start thinking about this game.
Questions: Is FHM6 still on sale for $9.99? Is there a "can't get fired" option, as in OOTP Baseball? If I play this game, I want to manage Columbus, not get fired by Columbus and have to apply for a job at another team. Getting fired is a real-life thing I don't enjoy having in sports management sims. How much fighting is there? Fighting is one of the things that made hockey uninteresting for me years ago. If there is a lot of fighting in FHM6, can it be toned down? Are the in-game screens 2D or 3D? I very much prefer 2D. I looked at screen shots in Steam, and they *looked* like 2D. Thanks in advance for any replies.
