Help with scouting during the offseason...

It sounds very odd, but all of my MLB scouting goes from "Very High" to "Very Low" or "Low" in the offseason.

Ever for my own players, despite having a scout with "Outstanding" in all categories.

He's fully employed, and I haven't touched my MLB scouting slider. Very odd.

But I noticed it last offseason as well.

How do you scout players when its off season and they're not playing ball?

Ratings change all of the time under the hood so if a player isn’t being scouting, then they are going to regress in accuracy. I assume there aren’t any games or scouting going on in the offseason.

I get you.

Well, I don't see why you'd all of a sudden have your scout telling you they're not as good as they were when the season ended a month ago.

Like, for instance, Rocker's potential rating dropped from a 4-star "Very High" rating, to a 3-star "Average" rating.

So, my scout just tells me everyone gets worse during the offseason because he hasn't seen them play in 30 days?

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Seems to me that the ratings should all freeze from the last time a player was scouted until they next time they are scouted. Be that during the season, or in the off season.

Private investigators. You may not learn anything about their on-field abilities, but you should figure out everything about their personal lives. Think Markus would change this for v22?

Welcome to the cushy, unaccountable world of OOTP scouts, where everything's made up and the points don't matter!

January 2020: He's great, can't miss! Rocket arm, power bat, get the Hall of Fame plaque ready.

June 2020: 6 tool player, I had to invent a new tool to describe him! He's got all 5 tools plus baseball radar.

January 2021: He makes Barry Bonds look like a noodle bat, he runs like Willie Wilson and hits like Hack Wilson. That's why his nickname is "Double Wilson".

June 2021: What a bum, why are you wasting my time sending me to scout him? He couldn't even ride the bench in the Pecos League!

I have found that at the end of a season when it flips to the offseason, the scouting accuracy for all players jumps from very high to low overnight because the scouting report unaccountably has jumped from my scout to OSA. So check under the scouting tab and make sure the reports are coming from your scout. When you switch it back everything should be as it was the day before.

This is often caused by looking at the profile of a player who has retired. For me, it happens when I do Hall of Fame voting.

Ah! This has been bugging me forever.

I thought it had some logic behind it, like scouts question the accuracy of their reports when players aren't playing, so I'd always queue up my whole roster to be scouted again and it wouldn't move the bar.

I can't believe it was something this simple
