Stars who missed WW2 Years
I have noticed something and not sure if it is a coincidence or a game issue. I have Ted Williams on my team and of course he has been a stud...until 1943 when he missed the entire season. He is only hitting .264 until he got an injury.
Same with Joe DiMaggio who is only hitting .247. Conversely, Bob Feller as a pitcher has been extremely dominant in 42 and so far in 43, two seasons he missed in real life. But Johnny Beazley, through 9 starts, has a 6.71 ERA. I'm trying to look up other star players who did not play in 43. Tommy Henrich has been a career .300 hitter. He is hitting .246. Phil Rizzuto has also been a career .300 hitter. He is hitting .204. I found that Dom DiMaggio is hitting more like his brother at .342, so maybe this is an anomaly. Thoughts?
