And by what you are saying, will a GM let go of a higher rated player for less if that player is having a bad season stats wise?

He may be more likely to move him, making him more open to offers. But if he isn't on the trade block, it may be a tough go.

Unfortunately, no. We've requested that they not be used for this sort of announcement.

So, Iwhen it comes to potential, I've noticed players lose potential stars. I've a young player (19 or 20) go from 5.0 potential to 4.0. I have a few questions about that.

1) I've not noticed it go up, just down. Can it go up? Can a player reach a higher level than what was predicted?

2) How much of that is just scouting (their accuracy was "A" rated concerning that prospect mentioned above)?

3) How much is that with the player being in the wrong level, or not getting enough ice time?

And if it has anything to do with ice time and I'm playing as GM only, is there a way for me to get my coach to play specific players more? And an aside to that, is there a benefit for me to set the AHL's coach to play prospects more? I've been keeping it at "balanced" but am I doing a disservice to my development?

Thanks...

Their potential is likely varying a bit because of the stats component tied to their ranking, or perhaps your best scout is now scouting them giving you an even truer ranking then what you previously had. But hurt confidence can diminish a player and keep him down a bit. It's funny, I think Pascal Vincent (Head Coach of the Manitoba Moose) was talking about this in a recent interview (and it's not the first time I had heard it). The vast majority of guys who are drafted or get to the AHL were all good scorers, and may still be in the A too. But many have a hard time adjusting to new roles when they finally get a chance to play in the NHL. Imagine being the guy who played 22 minutes a night to suddenly playing 8. It's a different energy and there's no doubt some plays psyches can't take that. It's also why you see some players flame out a little more than many think they should (notable example so far is Nic Petan in my mind).

Keep in mind though, 4 star player is still really, really good. They just aren't next-worldly good, like Gretzky, Orr, etc.

I don't get the whole "hot goalie" thing...

I started a game in 1967 with Random Debut.....of the other 11 teams, one goalie is H(1)one is H(3), one is H(4), and the other EIGHT are all H(5)!!!

My goalie (Harry Lumley) FINALLY got to H(2) two games ago. Then I was thoroughly outplayed on the road by the Canadiens. I was out shot 37 - 15 and lost 2 - 1, and he dropped to H(1).

Then I lost the next night to the Rangers, 2 - 0, and gave up 30 shots.

And now he's cold.

So while I did lose 2 games, Lumley played to the tune of a .940 save percentage, and went from H(2) to cold.....

I might be obtuse, but what does {HO} stand for on the rosters next to the Goalies?

Why can I only dress 19 players?

I started a challenge mode game in 1950 and it only lets me dress 19 players so my 4th offensive line never has enough players in it.

Just got the game, I really want to like it but this is making me hate it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Because that's how many the NHL dressed at the time.

I have some questions about coaches:

1. Are there certain coaching categories that are less important for assistant coaches? Like, do I need my assistants to have solid numbers for categories like tactics, ingame tactics, & motivation for example?

2. Let's say I'm looking for a new goalie coach. I've been prioritizing these categories:
Coaching Goalies
Coaching Prospects
Physical Training
Player Management
Motivation
Discipline
Tactics
Ingame Tactics

Am I off-base in what I'm looking for?

No. But what it tells you on the Staff page in the Assistant categories spots are the most important thing for that job.

I just started a historical sim in 1950 in challenge mode and my ticket price is set to $0 and I see no way to change it. Can I change it?

One last thing, my minor league team has zero games scheduled, there are no standings but the players have stats. What is going on?

Is he signed? Also - are you sure it's your Minor League Team? Several times there's teams that appear multiple times, but it's because the teams had rights split, so it's a small workaround.

While players accrue stats, the league is non-playable and therefore no games are played. It's more or less there to give the illusion of a season going on rather than nothing.

In some places it appears that "Great" is listed above "Excellent" but the inverse in other areas. I always thought Excellent was the top rating, but then on the Line Chemistry portion of the player profile, it lists Great above Excellent. So, which is it? Great>Excellent or Excellent>Great?

Great > Excellent. Are you seeing the reverse somewhere?

Yes, I'm definitely in my minor league team, are you saying teams appear multiple times or players? I can promote other players from this team, just not him and a few others. I tried offering a contract and got the message he already had a MIN contract and NHL honors MIN contracts so I'm assuming he's signed. There are only 6 minor league teams, one for each NHL team.

Also, so ticket price is essentially meaningless?
