Thank you!

Cusick, you bring long ago ballplayers back to light. I sincerely appreciate your efforts.

Wes Scott

I'm looking for 60's and early 70's Giants farmhand Wes Scott. A minor league pitcher who hit .275 and was 15-8 in the 1971 AA Dixie Association. It appears he got hurt soon after. Baseball Reference says he was all of 6' and 150 lbs. If anyone can find his likeness I would much appreciate it.

Thanks for the quick response!

Baseball reference has him as Wes Scott and then lists his name as Leslie Mortimer so thank you for clarifying that discrepancy. How did you find this player?

I checked out what teams he played for when, then checked for newspapers from those cities on newspapers.com. I first searched for Les Scott in the Amarillo paper, and got only one hit, but it listed him as Wes "Les" Scott. So then I searched for Wes Scott, and found the picture in a 1969 issue of the Phoenix paper.

I think in the modern era Tito Nanni would be on a big league roster. They would adjust and elevate his swing for power and let him strike out as often as he wants. He was a big lefthanded hitter who could steal some bases. He should have had at least a cup of coffee with the young Mariners so he could have a big league card of him.

A's farmhands 70's

Im looking for lefthander Dennis Root and middle infielder Joe Robinson. Root only pitched a couple of years but was effective before he got hurt. He pitched for Burlington in '72 and '73 with a step up to Birmingham later that year. Robinson spanned the two eras being drafted and playing for the Kansas City A's organization and finishing with Oakland's double A affiliate in 1973.

Any known photos of Ron Locke in a 1970 Jacksonville Suns uniform. He was in Seattle Pilots minor league spring camp in 1970. Which made him a Pilots.

Charles Bates

Lumpkin, as you know from past experience, I'm willing to try finding newspaper photos for some of these minor league players for you, but asking for 50+ players at once is a bit overwhelming. I'll try just a few.

Charles Richard Bates is major leaguer Dick Bates. Among other places, his image may be seen in a Seattle Pilots uniform on his baseball-reference.com record at:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...atesdi01.shtml

He was also on a Renata Galasso baseball card in a Pilots uniform.

Larry Wallin

This photo of Wallin is from the Cedar Rapids Gazette of Apr. 2, 1978. By that time, his playing career had ended and he was coaching baseball.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=wallin001lar

Walling was a spring training invitee to major league camps twice -- to the Mets' camp in 1967 and to the Indians' camp in 1971.

John Conzatti

The first photo shows him tossing a no-hitter for Centralia (WA) high school. It's from that town's Daily Chronicle newspaper of Apr. 28, 1967. I may have posted that photo previously. The second photo is a better one of his face. It's from the same Daily Chronicle publication, but the issue of May 21, 1969.

Guy McTheny

Photo shows McTheny at age 16 when scouts were saying he had the greatest potential of any player they had seen. Photo is from the Tampa Bay Times of St. Petersburg, dated Dec. 15, 1965.
