What is the best way to make an AFL?

i tried to make a 3rd rookie league as an early half-season league that ended before the draft. an attempt to let young guys play an entire year, if still at the lowest mil level the year after draft.

just beacuse it takes place at a different time doens't mean it is treated any differently as far as the ai filling it. so, it doesn't move players over to fill it... it expects to have a full set of players for each league even if not concurrently played.

that was a few patches ago, but i doubt it changed.

i think there's a 'winter' league designation that may or may not be helpful.. maybe it changes ai behaviour to fit?

Go to the general settings page.
In the top right drop down, there's a drop-down. Select "Add a tournament".
On the right of the first page, select "Arizona Fall League".
Click through. Enjoy.

Thanks, does this make it like irl where each team assigns player to a team?

Yep, and you will even see players (most of the time pitchers) decline the invitation, but the rate of declining to go is customizable in the settings of the league.

Here is the blurb about them in the manual

What I have not been able to figure out with AFL creation is whether it is possible for me to let the AI pick the players for the AFL team rosters BUT with my having had input about which players from my organization I wish to be given consideration.
I have in the past been able to select my players for the AFL but only if I control the selection for all of the AFL teams, which I really don't wish to do. I'm not finding specific instructions about this in the manual or in any of the online threads. Is this something that just isn't possible in the current setup?

Yes, currently the only way to choose which of your players go would be to take control of your AFL team and select the entire rosters for them.

Thanks for the clarification Matt!

If I'm understanding you correctly then I could in fact choose the roster for only 1 of the AFL teams, but I would have to take control of that team (as manager/GM?) in order to that. In that case, all other teams in the AFL would be selected by the AI. That would be a bit less cumbersome than the way I did it before, where I selected for all teams.
Though, admittedly, I'd rather take a bit more passive role in this.
