MLB managers that go to the minors to manage
Is that a bad thing to do? Right now Sparky Anderson is the best but I'm not sure if I should sign him to a AA team.

Right now I'm in 82 and started in 1970. Lots of MLB managers got fired so I'm tempted to sign them to the minors I don't know if that's a good idea.

Can't hurt to try. :-)
But if it were me, I'd do it. |

I did something like this in one of my fictional leagues. Hired a guy with "Legendary" status to manage my AAA team.
...and when the big club started to struggle, I fired my manager, and guess who got the call? Mr. Legend was good for a couple championships in about seven seasons, IIRC.

Dunno how much success Sparky has in your BB universe but this is one thing I don't understand with this game. I'm sure it's been brought up already but wouldn't it be realistic if a manager with Legendary status and all that experience & success at the highest level turn down the offer to manage in the minors? I mainly use fictional players and managers and do the same thing myself. But it makes no sense when mangers with 10+ years in the MLB and some success in the playoffs accept your offer to manage of your minor affiliates.

Maybe the guy needs the paycheck. My experience is that well regarded veteran managers ask for quite a bit of money to manage a minor league team.
That said, coaches do need more work. My biggest peeve is that so many overseas managers refuse to work in the Major Leagues ("not comfortable in a foreign league"). That makes sense the other way around (e. g., an American not wanting to work in Japan), but I doubt that any manager of a U.K. club would fail to jump at the chance for a much better paid and more prestigious position. |
