strategy profiles

How do I use them?
Would love to recreate some old coaches and use their profiles but I have no idea how. Is it even possible?
Why are they there?

There is some basic information in the online manual about this.
Within the game there is a folder called "strategy_profiles" which I assume you have found. That can be accessed in the game with the drop-down on the strategy page so you could load your favourite manager.

One way to get to where you want to go:

Load a Manager (or a style of strategy) that is close to what you want, make some tweaks (overall, per score, per inning, as detailed as you want) and then export that strategy.
It will show up as a "team name" strategy in the "import_export" folder with the .str extension. You could then simply rename that to your favourite manager .str and then move it to the strategy_profiles folder.

And remember, as mentioned in the manual, the strategy only applies if you use auto-play to sim.

it won't translate perfectly, but older releases had historical coach strategies -- believe created by contributors, not scientific in any way... so, may have some opinion and points of argument, which are not avoidable either way.

anyway, download the demos and look... it's before the recent switch, so when the ui changes for coach strat, you'll know that's the year to mine some information, if you really want to.

maybe someone has an archive for you? it's been 2-3-4? years since it shifted??

The .txt files in the strategy_profiles folder contain some helpful information. I believe the reason OOTP doesn't promote the use of these profiles (which a dedicated OOTP user painstakingly created) is that they cause problems with sim results. The sim engine does better with more generic manager strategies, IIRC.

you can't use them with the newer setup.. i mean you can do it by hand but you can't import them like you could in past versions.... it's not included with '18 is it?

worth a look, op... bu tlikely ou need older versions.

Just tried it in 18. The historical manager profiles seem to import just fine.
